Sure I believe the Bible. I just have a problem with your interpretation of some of it. There is no way that I will ever believe that God gave "authority" to any mortal man whatsoever.

Like I said...you don't even crack the pages of a Bible yet try to present yourself as an expert on Jesus. OK...here you go. The very words of Jesus stating that the authority for Pilate to torture Him came from the Father

John 19:10

And that really is the problem...you and Lorax don't understand biblical authority. You create ways that make your own intellect greater than the Word of God. This is why you side with the rebellious and the wicked. There is no discerning of spirits when you don't have discernment of authority AND submission to that authority. As much as I disagree with Bush and his predecessor, I repect their authority to wield the sword. In the USA we have civil rights that allow us to change leadership through the political process, so the responsibility for what they do belongs to us, the citizens. Bush is doing the will of most Americans at this time by protecting us from foreign enemies. He's actually quite soft compared to past leaders but that is another discussion...

Romans 13 makes it clear that God has given EVERY government the power of the sword..some for good some for evil. He uses even the wicked to do His will and perform judgement. If the Taliban or Al Queda were to take over the USA, I would have to accept that it was God's will to judge us for wickedness...and for having weak leaders.

We can only reject idolotry but even then it must be done with respect for authority. Remember Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednigo willfully submitting to Nebuchanezzars ruling to put them in a furnace? Daniels reaction to being fed to lions? Joseph to Potipher's putting him in prison?

Almost every prophet of the bible (including Jesus) submitted to wicked rulers as unto the Lord. They did so without being personally corrupted...but they did understand that all authority comes from God.

from what i saw on abc and four corners their is too much evidence damming evidence if these tapes wear to be played as the CIA is good at what they do torcher is their main goal when it comes to getting information out of some one and what i saw in the footage they use water to make the victem think they are going to drown they even kidnap people that are being suppects in an investigation especialy those linked to terror groups

i remember hearing about this one guy the CIA kidnapped the poor man did not know wear he was all he remembers is being forced into a weighting van and driven off and being on sevral diffrent planes before being taken to this place the CIA had and they torcherd this poor guy

its what the CIA is trained to do as to get answers sometimes one has to do what they can as bin laden and his mob are good at doing this so why not CIA doing this its a cival service i would not want to be complaining to much to what the CIA does i found what abc and four corners had to say very intresting

i also saw this on sbs news and the head CIA boss had every right to have those tapes destroyed as it would have put the CIA agents into hot water if it ever did get to the point wear under the freedom of information act the public could view these tapes

my brother has been taught how to do this and its only used to gain valuable information my brother is a soldier in the croation army and i can honestly tell you if some one decides you are a suspect or have some valuable information will you honestly be able to survive this your self or do this your self if you wear a CIA agent

waterboarding sleep deprevation and what ever else is used is to brake the person

its also done on prisoners that are out of control thank god our prisons have changed as i have heard of prisoners being sent in a hole or a small cell with no light and they can stay in that small cell for any wear up to 21 days to a month this is real torcher no light no human contac you do not know if its day or if its night your mind goes crazy in the long run and for those that survive this you are never the same

what the germans did is more harsh than what the CIA uses the German SSS wear a mean bunch so i see what the CIA doing is nothing when it comes to the experts of torcher even what the british soldiers did to the convicts hear in australia i have read up on some horrible things not just done to the convicts but also to the aborigonal people

every time this comes on i am more intrested to why the CIA is always in trouble and i feel that they wil continue to do what ever they can with in their power to gain valuable information that could one day save your country and other countrys from these terror groups that have nothing on their mind but mass killings and dont care who gets killed

We must take this as an isolated incident. Yes, Jesus did submit to Pilate's torture, he did so because it was part of "the plan". He did what he had to do. And he also did say that the authority for Pilate to do what he was doing "came from the Father", but you have to realise - and you probably do but you will claim not to believe this because it "suits" what you are saying to claim this - that was referring to that particular incident, not claiming that "God gave authority to every government "official" for ever after", because that was all part of "God's plan" for Jesus. For everything to "go smoothly" pilate had to do what he did, and Jesus had to die, and for that to be possible Pilate had to have got his authority from somewhere.

God could have intervened, rescued Jesus, stopped him being tortured and saved his life, but to do so would have ruined "his plan" for Jesus to purchase our salvation on the cross at Calvary.
