I don't understand why all of a sudden, in the late 20th and 21th centuries, atheism began spreading so rapidly across the world. What exactly makes atheism appealing to these people? It does not promise any afterlife, it teaches that you no longer exist after death, and believes that there is no God whatsoever. Why do you think it's become popular all of a sudden? I hate atheism with a passion, but I love, and respect the actual atheists...

I also wish to ask the same about agnosticism....basically, a so called "middle line" between being religious, or disbelieving. Another thing, which country has the largest population of atheists, could someone please show a percentage as well? I feel that I need to know how bad it actually is right now.

May the Lord have mercy on all of their souls. I pray right now that many turn back to Christ.

The majority of people on the earth have always been against Christ.

I think that they were merely looking for an excuse to justify their 'non-belief'.....and that this has largely been provided for them with the advent of scientific discoveries.

So that people are now so much more ready to 'latch onto' any theory which reinforces their rejection of God, and makes them think that man, and science, has all the answers.

Btw, for 'scientific discoveries', read 'lies'........at least as far as some things are concerned.....evolution, for one thing.

Man thinks that science will provide all the answers, and that he doesn't need God anymore. Science, and the quest for answers, has become their God.

But this was always the case, in one way or another.

I could not find percentages beyond 2004, but the following numbers are interesting:

85% of Americans self-identify as Christians. (2002)

7% of US adults classify as evangelicals (2004) (see Evangelical category for more information)

38% of US adults classify as born again, but not evangelical. (2004)

37% are self-described Christians but are neither evangelical nor born again

Atheists and agnostics comprise 12% of adults nationwide. (2004)

11% of the US population identify with a faith other than Christianity (2004)

I think schooling has a lot to do with it. Evolution is taught as fact and many teachers believe it. Christianity is also belittled by many people. Then there is the fictional book 'The Divinci Code". Also media like to paint us as uncompassionate with our attitude towards gays.

well atheism has been apart of our society and not matter what you might be feeling hear these people will not give up their life style they love to live in sin

i have learnt one thing it is point less trying to get atheists to come around

yes lord have mercy on all their souls yet praying is not going to have no affect on these people

you are Just going to have to learn to accept this as best as you can and stay on the path god has you on and concentrate on what god has called you to do

with your second question you have asked just look around you look at those you know are they walking according to what it says in gods living word ? i left the church i was looking at becomming a member as what i saw with in was getting me angry and right know i am praying for a pastor that has fallen from grace the people in his old church have been giving this pastor a hard time were this man has even had threatning letters posted to him

were my friend wanted to hold an open meeting and openly say sorry for the hurt he had caused this will never happen

religon has done so much damage i left a traditional church my self and i am in a good bible beliving church

all i am going to say is this Jesus dealt with this when he was alive and walking this earth in the villages he found him self in he was constantly under attack by the so called pharisees who were saying we are the real christians hear

this is all i am going to say on this topic

Is there a relatively easy way I can preach the gospel to these people? Is there a dapper line or paragraph I could use? Actually, I know it wouldn't be easy...but still, I want these people to change for the glory of the Lord. They have a free gift of salvation, they just need to accept it. Please give me some advise on what approach I should teach these people about Christ. Should I try to befriend them, gain their trust, then witness to them?

high

there is nothing i can give you to help you as i also do out reach work with in the community i am living in and from what i said these people will not change they wil argue with you they wil throw things at you

like if god is a caring god why does he allow us to suffer

they hear what is going on around the world and will use this against you

they love to argue on evolution

they will even try to get you to question your faith so you need to be sure this is what god has placed on your heart and you need to be strong and grounded in gods word

trying to be friends with these people will not help as this will make it worse for you

also they will say what is written in the bible is put their by man him self

you can share your life experiances and you can try to be friends with these people but you will need people in your church praying over you

i hope you are educated and are ready to stand for your faith as atheists also love to debate

hope this helps

god bless from your brother in the lord damien stipic

Yes, the posts have helped. Everyone is welcome to continue posting too. It seems the only thing I could do for these people, is to pray, although that may not change anything for them. From what I read in this thread, these people are really hopeless, yet still capable of being saved.

I actually try to debate against them, but they argue Christianity cannot be proved. I've been doing this for around a year. Nevertheless, I remain steadfast in my faith. I'm a hard stone to crack. I will not forsake the Lord.

P.S. I never made a vow to the Lord.

Pray to God.

I don't see anything wrong with befriending them. They need to hear the Gospel and most would would be more willing to hear from a friend.

Also everyone is different. Where some may believe because of someone testimony others may believe because of fulfilled prophecies. There is no simple formula to convert someone. Only the Holy Spirit converts.

Also be careful. To spiritually grow we shouldn't become unequally yoked

In my eyes you may as well say 2% of the American population are true "followers" of Christ while the rest are just saying they are Christian. I dont believe that going to church every week, eating a piece of bread and drinking a sip of wine makes you a Christian. Christianity wasn't just about saying you're Christian and believing that Christ lived and died for you it was also to follow in his footsteps and live your life as he would.

Half the world is in turmoil and these modern day so called followers of Christ really dont do much asides from pray that somebody is gonna just magically make everything better. Now tell me if Jesus was here would he simply sit there go to church on Sunday go home and relax for the rest of the week. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't, he would probably spent every waking hour trying to strike down poverty and suffering worldwide. As far as I am concerned every christian man should take it upon themself to better themself through charity of missionary work and until you do so going to church and relaxing for the other 6 days doesn't make u a true "follower" of christ which really doesn't make u a true christian.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
