Should I be worried about my husband?

Hi

My husband got up in the night and his right leg unexpectedly gave way and he fell. He is very dismissive of this - says he was probably sleeping awkwardly and cut off the blood supply. He rarely goes to the doctors.

However, I was a bit worried as it was so unusual. He is 60, very physically active and doesn't smoke. His leg is OK now but this has never happened before and I think it fairly unlikely that he was sleeping awkwardly.

Anyone had or heard of this sort of thing?

lass, I wish I could be helpful with this. The only thing that comes to mind, has he or does he have back problems?

That happens to me all the time and I'm only 20!

Many times when you sleep awkwardly and your leg (or arm) is pressed against something, it puts pressure on the nerves and you get that sensation that it's "fallen asleep."

I've gotten out of bed and BOOM! Right on the floor!

Me too Kari, my husband too. And both of us have slipped disc.

And I also have, cause it felt like my leg was asleep.

I think he's likely OK, expecially if he is in generally good health. There are a lot of miles on 60 year old legs.

I am fairly young and I have had something similar.

Sometimes, I can wake with one half of my body very numb.

I think my circulation is cut off or affected during the night especially if I am sleeping

on one side.

Maybe the best thing to do would is to see your local doctor and have them run a few tests

I think it is worth watching. I would look for things like ankles swelling, or changes in vision, numbness or tingling. I do this with my husband all the time. He will tell me something hurts or he gets dizzy or something. I ask a few innocent questions and then watch for other "symptoms". Usually nothing comes of it, but at least I have some answers for the doctor (if he goes to one).

As meagin said, it could very easily be a back problem. I like chiropractors (I go to one regularly and have been helped a lot).

Lass, Why don't you just give it over to God and then if it happens again insist on the doctor visit...

Commit it to prayer and see if it happens again. He could have circulatory problems, which is a different ball game for older folks. Blessings!

Hey Lass,

Don't you just love the way these youngsters are calling being in the sixties "older"? And here I feel so young and thought everybody else thought 60 was young! A lot of miles on those legs. For sure. And many more miles to go. Bless God!
