you can let them know that the wording they are using is offensive, and that you would appreciate it if they would choose their words a bit better.....

there are a couple where i am working, they choose to ignore the request, but then again, they are not receiving any reply, nor conversation that is not done for work from me..... if they wish to make an issue of it with me, then they may be looking for another place of employment..... the union rep chose to violate these rules, and he is no longer the union rep.... he knew better and chose to do it anyways.....

at work we are suppose to be professionals... we are suppose to dress, work and act the part of the professional, we are direct representatives of the company we are working for..... if I walked into an eating establishment, and there was nothing but profanity from the waitresses, I would turn and leave.... if i walk in to sears, wards, penneys, walmart, NAPA, or anywhere else to purchase something, and there was nothing but profanity, I would take my buisness else where.....

yesterday, we had a group of people come through our plant to see if they would like to start a contract with us..... if they would have heard constant filth from the workers ( front line or behind the lines) they would probably not want to have their contract with us, being that is totally unprofessional... if we are unprofessional in our words, then we probably are unprofessional with our work.....

a slip of the tongue is one thing, constant filth is another.....

something that has been said many times, in many ways, by many people over the ages.... if a person has a low vocabulary, they will fill the gaps with profanity, kind of like the smurfs, they are lacking so many words in their vocabulary, that they fill in the blanks with the different forms of the word smurf.....

at work, the people need to be professional, in their dress, language and actions......

if the work environment is volatile, then it needs to stop.... that is all there is to it, the first place is to either let the person(s) know in person, or through Human Resources.....

I say no. The darker it is, the brighter the light.

This was my initial response, too. I put up with a lot of profanity from my peers; I pray for them and let it pass, unless it's really, really vile. But now that many of them know me, they make a point of controlling their tongues when I'm around.

all i can say to this question is, if you are gonna start correcting people's language, you gonna be awful busy. at least in my neck of the woods...

Same here. You can try to correct people's language all you want, but, in my experience, it hasn't done much good. I work for a company which has 52,000 employees, and so I am constantly working with different people, in different cities, almost every week.

I just try to switch off.

Recently started a new job, pretty stressful job, its intense for 12 hours straight. The job deals with the rougher element of the population. My first night on the job was last night. Supervision and co-workers relieve stress with vulgar and profane conversations. In your opinion am I required to object to this activity that everyone else on the staff is participating in.

Where is the list of words in the Bible that we are forbidden to use? I never have found it.

Now I was raised christian and taught not to use certain words, and usually I try not to use them, but don't sweat it too bad if you slip up, or even if you do it often, and certainly not if someone else slips up. The fact is, I still struggle with finding myself judging others for doing it, even in spite of what I'm about to write, because I was raised to think such and such a word was a sin to say, etc.

As far as I have ever been able to find from scripture, there is actually no basis for forbidding the use of certain so-called "profanity" or "cuss" words, other than cultural tradition. In fact, many of these forbidden words actually appear in the Bible and in the exact same context as they are used in every day "profanity" speech, in a few cases even God himself uses them!

Their meaning and definitions are no different than other words you use regularly and do not think twice about it, so what is so different about these "taboo" words? Nothing really, just some weird legalistic tradition with little or no Biblical basis.

Its a wonder how some christians can even do their jobs or hold a conversation as legalistic as they are. How do you even take a biology class or help your child with their homework if they need help? Well its the SAME THING. Different words, identical meaning.

"in a few cases even God himself uses them" ? WHAT? REALLY? Can I see some scripture please!

you can convey your feelings on the situation depending on the group but normally you will be ignored or many will do even worse if you speak up! I do agree that it is good of you to speak up, but i just prefer to "step out" of the conversation whenever the opportunity arises. They may gossip for a bit , but in the end you'll gain more respect than the first opt. Best wishes with the new job and secular group...lol

this is when it becomes harassment..... when they do things in spite or malice.... this is when, if it continues on, needs to be handled at a higher level then on the same level....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
