their statement of beliefs is rather ambiguous isn't it? they don't really give much information as to what their doctrines are. i think i'll listen to some of their youtube broadcasts. so far i'm getting the impression that they've forgotten the all important biblical principal of being in the world but not OF the world.

and i certainly don't like the way they seem to be a-ok with premarital sex. outside of the 30 day challenge anyway.

i'm less impressed by the minute with this church, and with this pastor.

funny thing.... in one of the newscasts he said the Bible is fairly silent on the issue of sex (huh?????) but that he had found some scriptures in the old testament that SEEM to suggest that Jesus disapproves of premarital sex. (what Bible is he reading? MY bible is pretty darn CLEAR on the subject!) it is reported in that newscast that the pastor thinks daily sex will make men better husbands and that better husbands make better christians! (sounds a bit backward to me!) the newscast concludes with the anchor saying the pastor is a former baptist who started his church 3 years ago and markets his church by tackling controversial subjects. (i hate when people "market" christianity. that usually means they water it down to make it more appealing to people who don't want to be held accountable to God.)

It might be helpful if you'd email him the scripture......

I thought this thread was a joke when I first read it..... this really isn't funny.

after watching some of their other videos, produced BY the church, i'm really too disgusted to email him. i'm sorry, but i don't think i'm capable of rebuking him in the spirit of love. one of the videos in particular was downright disgusting and wholly inappropriate for any single person to ever view. heck, it's not even appropriate for married couples to view.

The church is actually right, according to 1 Cor. 7. Sex is not only part of marriage, according to Paul it is an obligation each spouse owes the other one. A healthy sex life is the best defense against sin in marriage.

The thing that's most disturbing to me is that it's like a fast from sex for unmarried couples for 30 days.

marnie, yes.... we are not to withhold sex from our MARRIAGE partner. however scripture doesn't require it to be every single night 365 days a year, and let's face it, many women (and men) prefer to abstain during the woman's monthly cycle.

the disturbing part is the challenge for UNMARRIED couples to abstain for 30 days. that church is way off base on this one. see my previous post describing the news spot and what the pastor had to say about it.

i would even suggest you go look up their videos and see how totally inappropriate and unglorifying to God some of them are (specifically the ones regarding sex)... but i'd prefer you didn't. i do not believe that any married woman (or unmarried for that matter) should be watching a church-produced video that shows a man singing in a semi-rap manner about having sex, and literally showing him strip down to his socks.

that church is way off base. the only part of their "challenge" that has any merit at all is to the married couples, and given the provacative nature of their videos, that's questionable. it is, in fact, being referred to as soft porn by youtube members.

What is the deal with the church's sex obsession???

Here's a sampling of a few of the churches programs:

CHARLOTTE SOUTH FELLOWSHIP IN MATHEWS, NORTH CAROLINA, featured a

five week series in February 2007 called

Posted

here is the bottom line.

should a church have serious discussions with their congregation regarding the beauty, the joy, and the GIFT of intimacy? absolutely.

but in CONTEXT, and with the appropriate audience.

it should not be a mixed congregation. there are appropriate ways to teach about sex to married couples, and those ways are different than how you need to speak to singles.

let me give an example. at a recent women's camp i attended, the guest speaker (invited by our church) gave a discussion on sex during the last day. i promise i was NOT the only person who complained about this "sermon", and i'm quite certain the guest speaker will not be invited back. if she is, i know i'm not the only one who will refuse to attend.

during that sermon she got a little carried away. she was discussing sex in a way that went beyond scriptural and was really a little too much information that i don't think any of us needed to hear about her personal intimate relationship with her husband.

it was more than i, as a married christian woman, cared to hear.

but aside from that, there were SINGLE women in the audience... some of whom were only about 18-20 years old. i can only imagine how this sermon got their minds racing.

i really don't have to imagine. one of my dear friends is twice-widowed. she is in her mid-50s and does not anticipate ever having another husband. she confessed to me several weeks later that since that sermon, she had been struggling very hard with sexual fantasies, and with a desire to read/watch pornographic material.

and to make things worse than it already was, one woman even had her young daughter in attendance. the little girl was about 7 or 8 years old. and she and her mother were sitting in the FRONT ROW.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
