yes, with a hair test, the drugs and alcohol would stay in the system that long. with urine tests, most drugs are undetectable after three to five days.

that would be one heavy drinker for the alcohol to stay in the system that long! one beer (or one shot, or one cocktail) is out of the system in one hour. two drinks, two hours, etc.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I

have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on

their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone

sitting on their ***, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine

how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to

get a public assistance check ?

This I totally agree with. If someone who is employable, but is on welfare, or any other assistance from the state, they should be tested. I know of many, many people who would become disqualified for not passing this test. She makes a very good point. Why should our hard earned money support their habits? Just to set the matter straight, I was one of those who did abuse the system when I was an addict. The money was free and all I had to do was lie once a month or so ... no big deal to a sinner. Easy street.

I drank every day and was on call to drop a urine any day. I could drink up to 7P without getting caught, any later than that and I would be positive. What an idiot I was. But I am clean and saved now!!

I agree with the testing. Although I was a big time smoker of pot, I quit and never regretted it. I don't think that it is an invasion of privacy - it is necessary. At one job I had - I saw 3 women come close to getting killed by a forklift BECAUSE THE DRIVER WAS STONED.

I also worked another factory job where we ran punch presses the size of a house. Some of the guys would go out at break time to smoke some dope, then come back in to work. Then you have to pray that they don't hit the press button while you are inside it pulling out parts.

The government already does screen Section 8 beneficiaries. If you have a felony or drug conviction, you cannot get it. And they most assuredly do a background check.
