You know.... My father stood in front of all his kids one day and said, "he did not have kids and he didn't love us" ( I was 12)...... Still, to this day, he tells people he doesn't have kids. I am crying as I am reading everyone's responses but I still wonder if God is a father, why wouldn't he reject me the way my father did? My father didn't supply any of my needs. He abused us and that was about the only thing he ever gave me. He wouldn't buy us food, clothes, or anything.

How can I trust that I won't be left??? Then you can add the church wounds and I really am having a hard time thinking I won't be rejected and left alone.

:mgfrog::blink::blink::blink::blink:

I had a cruel father and so when I was told that God is my Heavenly Father, I was not interested and in fact turned away from such a thought.

It took many years for me to finally get to the point that I understood that God was the Perfect Father and would always act as the Perfect Father and therefore He would not be cruel nor would He turn His back on me.

Just like with any relationship, trust comes with time and experience. The more you trust God and the more you see that He won't desert you, the easier it will be for you to trust Him more and more.

I hope that this helps in some way!

Sis  I am so sorry for your hurts.

I really don't know what to say except the walk as a follower of Christ isn't easy especially in the beginning. I cant identify with the hurt from a parent, but I can from a sibling and many so-called friends. It's hard but we have to learn to forgive and just move on. As I type this I know its sounds cliche but thats simply what we must do. As others have said or Father God will never leave us or forsake us and he loves us more than a thousand perfect earthly dads ever could. You just have to believe this and take your hurts to God in prayer.

It is not God who ever leaves anyone. It is always the other way around if there is a separation. All in the kingdom is by faith. He is not like a man, and earthly father, He is always loving, always faithful. Believe this. Don't let anyone or anything influence your belief in this. As long as you want Him, as long as you want to serve Him, He will never leave you or forsake you. If you fail, sin, or backslide, He will pursue you, hound you, chase you, until you return to Him, but it is we who must turn back to Him and He will always be right there to receive you, hold you, cherish you and keep you as His purchased possession.

If you have given yourself to Him, He has given Himself to you and will come in and abide not just with you, but within you, in your heart as your very own as if you were the only one he loves, His very own possession. Believe this. Fill your heart with this, and you will be lifted up into the very realms of heaven. When He dwells within through the Holy Spirit, you are His Holy Temple, His Holy abode and His presence there will make you holy and able to overcome all that he Devil throws at you. Give no place to doubt and the Spirit will witness with your Spirit that you are His precious child.

You now have a 'New Father', a 'perfect Father', one who loves you supremely, although at times He may chasten you, it is all for your good and done out of love.

You trust by deciding to trust, it is as simple as that, but that doesn't mean that it is easy to do. It is a battle to believe when assailed by doubt. God said He would never leave you, so you decide to believe it and cast out all doubt, and live by that faith. Faith grows strong by resisting all doubt.

God Bless you as you seek to serve Him, He will supply all you need. None of it comes from you, it is all a free gift by faith. The moment you believe, that moment Christ comes to dwell in you and from that moment you are 'complete in Christ'.

PS: Don't be concerned with Church wounds, keep your focus on Christ who dwells in your heart, moment by moment

I am crying as I am reading everyone's responses but I still wonder if God is a father, why wouldn't he reject me the way my father did?

I understand what you are struggling with.

My father had a short temper, and because of his own insecurities would be very hard on us. I've struggled for years with the belief and fear that God was up there with a sledge hammer, just waiting for me to make a mistake so He could pound me over the head with it.

In a lot of ways, I am still unlearning this image.

It helped me to understand this principle: our image of God is formed by our image of our father.

Understanding this opened the door for me to accept that God is not like my earthly father.

I wish there was some easy words I could say that would wipe away all these hurts from your past. (I wish someone had easy words for me, too!)

One thing you could do, perhaps? Read 1 Samuel 16 - the end of 2 Samuel. This is the story of King David. Read it from the perspective of looking for the love of God. David, too, was rejected by his father. Although he made mistakes he was punished for, the Lord never cast him away.

Yeah, I know with work and school it's hard to find time to read extra stuff, but the only way to learn about God and His ways is to read His book . . . or get a Bible on CD and listen to it while in the car or something?

Plus listening to Christian music (I am sure you can find a style you like; if you need help, you may ask). Off-hand, I recommend www.christianbook.com - go to the music section, and on the side is a list of genres. Pick you genre and a selection of albums will appear. Click on the album, and most of them will have a playlist where you can listen to a clip of each song. This way, you'll get the chance to figure out what you like.

But listening to people singing of God and His ways, form the Scriptural perspective, will help teach you about Him. I know there have been several songs that helped me through my depression and self-hatred.

Prayers and blessings!

You cannot compare your earthly father to your Heavenly Father. You see, your earthly father is under the curse that came into the world because of Adam's sin. We all struggle with sin and don't always make the correct choices. But here is love:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." John 3:16-17

Your earthly father can deny he has children, but that is a lie....you are living proof that it is a lie. But here is what Jesus said:

"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 10:32-33

So you see, God loved you so much that He came into His creation to die on a cross to give you eternal life. All you have to to is accept that (which you have). Jesus told us that if we confess Him before men that He will confess also befor the Father. Unless you deny Him before men, then he will deny you.

So, if you struggle, he won't deny you. If you fall, He won't deny you. If you keep seeking and learning, He won't deny you. He loves you very much, and is nothing at all like your earthly father.

Rejection and abandonment is a set up early by the enemy in hopes when we meet God our idea of Him will follow what we have been subject to. It is sooo major in the lives of people.

To try and get them to believe in worthyiness of being loved at all so that we can set up the awareness that Jesus loved them is a tough one, for how can one accept the Love Of Jesus of a wonderful magnificent God if they for years believed they are worthless and unloveable.

Your dad most likely heard the same thing and grew up with that stigma. It does not make it right. Just tell Jesus you forgive your earthly father and I know some of those fetters will fall off permanantly as they are now.

God knows I have been in that dark pit....many times to be healed. The wonderful things about being there is there are no windows, no doors no way out but up, Look up and let Jesus lift you out of the despair that you feel. And remove those lies. You will help to heal many who you will find in the same place one day.

How can I trust that I won't be left???

I am truly sorry for your hurts and wounds Angelique.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

Titus 1:2 a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time

Hebrews 6:17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.

In His love,

Richard

I Whoop Them There Blues With The Word For I Know I Am Not Worthy Outside Of The Lord

And I Know HE Is Not Finished With Me Yet

But I Do Know......

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:11

So I Know I Have No Right To Refuse My Lord Jesus And My Heavenly Daddy And My Beloved Holy Ghost Any Good Thing

Including My Trust And My Joy And My Praise And My Worship

No Matter How I May Feel Because

HE IS WORTHY

Hallelujah!

Amen

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
