That's ok Alan, I appreciate your attempt to. :20:

Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. :emot-crying:

It's just that they needed MORE oil. Yet the other 5 anticipated the need and had the necessary amoung ALREADY. They knew what to anticipate in terms of the "the darkness", and having enough oil to light their way.

In His Love,

Suzanne

Could the 5 unprepared be within the church that Jesus calls Lukewarm, while the other prepared 5 were in the church on fire for Him?

:24:

That was simple and interesting.

I was recently recieveing it as an instruction not to allow ourselve to get raw and coarse and infertile and desolate. We must continue in valueing the Spirit in our lives above all else.

Amen...They were all christians Thats why they all had oil. The parable of the wedding feast, I hope you do not mind 't' They were all busy with what God gave them to do to come to the wedding. Since God knew them enough to send invintations, you send invintations to friends. Then God went to te highways and byways.

Also of interest to note is that prepared or not with oil, they were ALL asleep when the Bidegroom came. What a picture of the church today. IMO, the church is asleep and we need an awakening. Even the true church with oil in their lamps.

Lord wake us up!

Interesting way of looking at it Suzanne, see I believe pre-trib but I have talked with my husband and said what if we are wrong. We need to know how to do things the "old fashioned" way in order to survive. I think that is what you are saying?

I had always thought that the oil represented the Holy Spirit and the ones who ran out of oil are the ones that fell away. Great discussion, btw.

Thanks PB,

I think it also goes along with various other posts I've presented regarding the issue of "Endure".

It is vital. So, to me, it only makes sense that you need to have oil for the longrun.

Suzanne

very interesting post - still, i fail to understand the concept of 'more'. if the oil = Holy Spirit, that's puzzling. how does one go about obtaining 'more'? what would i have done to 'run out' of the Holy Spirit and have to borrow some? i look forward to reading more of the post so i may, hopefully, get clued in. :emot-hug:

Dear Fraught,

Your confusion is valid, because actually, we've got 2 trains of thought going on in the thread. Which is fine. But just keep in mind that people are sharing different thoughts on this. My focus/view is one of "endurance". Someone elses is "The Holy Spirit". Which I do not dismiss, but I'm looking at another viewpoint of being able to endure.

In His Love,

Suzanne

I tend to see the Holy Spirit as giving the power to endure. So I connect the two.

This is a great little discussion. Oil=Holy Spirit; no doubt. Paul exhorts Timothy to stir up the gift that was in him. That means use it, apply it, minister to the body. The gifts operate by faith in love and are expressions of the Holy Spirit (I Cor 12).

Prov. 20:27 says that the spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord searching all the inward parts. In Rom 8:26-27, we find the Holy Spirit knows the mind of God and also searches the hearts. Hallelujah! Our spirit, one with the Holy Spirit, can truly accomplish the purposes of God. We can do all thing through Christ that strengthens us.

But we must stir it up! If we are fountains of living water because the Holy Spirit is in us, we must release this living water, washing one another's feet.

The parable of the talents teaches us that if we put to use what the Lord gives us we'll recieve more. If we don't, we'll lose even that which we seem to have and suffer for it. Help us Lord!

If we love one another we will endure. Love endures all things.

Greg.

so are you saying that if we do not use the oil of the Holy Spirit, it will run out? the more we use it, the more we will have when the bridegroom returns? the 5 virgins without oil in their lamps are 5 who have not used their gifts? therefore, the door is closed to them?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
