Day 5.

Seeing Life from God's View

James 4:14b (NIV)

What is your life?

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.

Anais Nin

Thinking about my purpose

Point to Ponder:

Life is a test and a trust.

Verse to Remember:

"Unless you are faithful in small matters, you won't be faithful in large ones."

Luke 16:10a (NLT)

Question to Consider:

What has happened to me recently that I now realize was a test from God? What are the greatest matters God has entrusted to me?

Everything in my life right now seems like a test. God is testing me to see where my heart lies. He wants to see exactly where we turn when we get in trouble. He's trying to teach us that He's the only one to lean on and trust.

The greatest matters that God has entrusted us with is our children. Our children are our test to see how we act with the other people of God. They are our family. The church is supposed to be the same way. If we treat our children differently then everyone else, and don't take the time to teach them as well as we do others, why should God entrust us with more people.

Day 6.

Life Is a Temporary Assignement

Psalm 39:4 (NLT)

Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away.

I am on earth for just a little while.

Psalm 119:19 (TEV)

Thinking about my purpose

Point to Ponder:

The world is not my home.

Verse to Remember:

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

Question to Consider:

How should the fact that life on earth is just a temporary assignement change the way I am living right now?

TDY is a military term for temporary assignment. When the military goes TDY, they have a saying "What goes TDY, stays TDY." It's an attitude of whatever happens when I'm away from home has no impact on my home. They want to believe they can do anything while away and not have to answer for it later.

As Christians, we know this is a false way of looking at things. Not only does what we do here on earth impact us in eternity, but we will have to answer for it. We tend to think that we can do anything we want and still be accepted into eternity. God will call us into accountability for the things he gave us charge over in life. He will make us accountable for all the times we were just too lazy to do His work. The right attitude is that of Paul to continue on through everything doing the work God has called us to. Paul knew that there was a finish line, and he kept on pressing right till that finish line came for him.

Day 7.

The Reason for Everything

Romans 11:36 (LB)

Everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory.

The Lord has made everything for his own purposes.

Proverbs 16:4

Thinking about my purpose

Point to Ponder:

It's all for Him.

Verse to Remember:

"For everything comes from God alone. Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory."

Romans 11:36 (LB)

Question to Consider:

Where in my daily routine can I become more aware of God's glory?

I need to look for the places in my life where God is already at work and join Him there. I need to get up early and spend time in prayer and reading. I have no problem at night reading or praying, but I feel that I need to start my day out with Him. Too often the morning is chaotic with 4 children getting off to school, and I never want to get up till it's time to wake them.

Sorry y'all, but i wanted to back up to day 6 for just a minute. I think it's so important, especially in today's world, to remember to fix our eyes on the unseen. With all the advertising and wordly displays going on around us, it's too easy to get caught up in the flesh. A bigger house, better car, luxuries. When our focus should be Jesus and his kingdom. When we get our priorites straight all else falls into place. Must be what He meant when He said "seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added." So, what is truly important in our lives? Isn't it those things that cannot be purchased? For what will last, but love?

Feel free to back up to any day. The point of this study is to share what God's purpose is for our lives. It's not to just read through the book. I was just catching us up to where we were supposed to be.

Question to Consider:

I know that God uniquely created me. What areas of my personality, background, and physical appearance am I struggling to accept?

I apologize for getting sidetracked but work and family have gotten hectic. I'm going to try to catch up today. I think the biggest thing in my life I have problems with right now is my weight. It's my belief that being overweight adds to the chance of other diseases. I don't believe that God wants us to be obese. The Bible says that physical discipline profits little, but a soldier trains in both the physical and the mental. If we are sick because we're overweight, how do we do the Father's work?

My wife and I are both starting a 40 day fast today that we would hope that everyone would pray for us about. Our purpose in the fast is to have God change us both inside and out. We are seeking to have a closer walk with God and to hear Him with a clearer voice. We are looking to overcome the addictions (food, distractions) in our lives. God has made it clear that we are called to a ministry but we continue to get distracted by other things. We desire to overcome these things and grow closer to Him. Keep us in prayer during this time.

Asduke,

I commend you on your quest and 40 day sacrifice. I will pray for you and your wife concerning this fast, that it is what God wants you to do.

I would like to suggest a book to you that I just recently started because I have also been dealing with a weight problem for most of my life. It has become a noose and even though it is easier to leave it alone it is better to work with God to get the pounds off. My church has a support group that I am going to for the first time tonight and they are the ones that told me to get "Thin Within" by Judy Wardell-Halliday. I have read the first few days and it really has had a profound affect on me. It is not your traditional weight loss program and it certainly is NOT a diet (bad word by the way), it is designed to help you do what you are trying to do. You can go to this web site to learn a little more about it but I think with you both fasting this is a good book to read, and maybe even find a support group in your area. I have also gotten a free sample of their online study (there is an extra cost for that though). If you would like to see it I can send it to you, just let me know.

Blessings,

Rose

Grace to you all,

Sorry for the break or lull in the posting.

As I stated at the outset. My personal life and the job I do here is interfering with the thread. That is okay because Ministry begins at home. As my heavenly Father told me,"Your Ministry is your life son!" He Loves us so very much. :huh: We must learn to apply Jesus to every situation and live daily in His life. Reside in His supplication. For we are weak vessels, drop us and we break and shatter. Ah' but fill us with Water and we can give a drink. Pour forth a Praise and a Blessing that has been filled into you today Saints.

The mere fact that you all have stepped in to fill the void is most welcome. A Blessing. Please continue to do so. If you feel led?

I will be busy most of today as well. I will try to return later tonight. Although I doubt it. To post and catch up.

Ah' Jesus what was I ever doing before I came home? How was I living? When I am so alive now?

Father, I leave a prayer as well . That his Thread will grow and prosper for in the Lord all our answers are Yes and Amen. Yes and Amen Father God to the sharing to the growth that has already occured. Yes and Amen Father God to the Blessing. Father I stand on your Word. I stand on your promise that if we will turn from ourselves and to you that we will be blessed. Father leave Your Holy Spirit here for the sharing. Pour forth Living Water a Blessing that we may pour forth Your Holy Praise. Father we are but clay vessels shaped and formed into fine work. Fired and tested in the heat. Then colored and added dimension. We then are placed on White Marble or Granite. On a pedestal. In the way . Then filled Father with Water! So that we may be poured out. Yes and Amen Father. In Jesus name , Amen!

Peace,

Dave

Grace to you,

Let us be Faithful in the little things and continue on here.

Lets catch up to at least day 8?

My responses

Day 4;

Question to Consider:

Since I was made to last forever, what is the one thing I should stop doing and the one thing I should start doing today?

I should start living for Gods Will for my life. My life is a daily Ministry. I should stop placing so much value on things that are not eternal.

Day 5;

Question to Consider:

What has happened to me recently that I now realize was a test from God? What are the greatest matters God has entrusted to me?

Grace to you,

Day 8;

Planned for God's Pleasure

You created everything and it is for your pleasure that they exist and were created.

Revelation 4:11

The Lord takes pleasure in his people.

Psalm 149:4a

Point to Ponder;

I was planned for God's Pleasure.

Verse to Remember;

"The Lord takes Pleasure in His people."

Psalm 149:4a

Question to Consider;

What common task could I start doing as if I were doing it directly for Jesus?

This very task right here. My job here. Jesus I do Love You! :il:

Read the Bible as if you and Jesus were reading it together. Simply because you are. Not a chore a delight!

Peace,

Dave

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
