Blindseeker - I'm not a preterist - but I sort of understand the fundamentals. That's what this is, I believe?

See - I know that the apostles expected and wanted a king - one to deliver them from the present regime. Jesus was not what they expected. I get that part. However, even knowing that I find it hard to believe that Jesus was speaking to the near future. Perhaps He was - but I've not been convinced of it. I keep goin back to a big old void. See - if those things were ALL He was referring to, then that would mean that He was being silent about all these past 2000 years. I have to read more brother - but for now - I'm not convinced. The state of mind of the apostles didn't dictate the answers of the Messiah. He spoke many riddles, many parables.

Anyway - it's still a very interesting read.

I have to say it was worth the the read, and something I will be revisiting again, see I am just starting to get the meat. I have been born again for a number of years but it's only been this last year that I would say I have moved from the milk to the meat.

I also happens that the book of Matthew is my favorite so any thing new I learn from it is so exciting.

I just wanted to say Thanks for posting this and I will be rereading it again and most likely again as I tend to chew my meat slowly.

God bless.

Thank you Kitty for your post, it was a needed encouragement.

Please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to give you an answer.

Peace.

Well, William, I haven't finished reading all of the post, but what I have read so far, has not been a waste of time, not for me at any rate. however I shall continue reading the full entire post with both an open bible and mind.

eric, with a little 'e'

Thanks to you eric.

The same liberty is extended to you, any questions, contrary opinions or oversights on my part are more than welcome.

I am here to learn and to share what I learned . . . and to enjoy the sharing of hungry hearts and mind for the truth.

Peace.

William, for those that want a paraphrased post, I plan on doing just that, but the last part of Matthew 24 still confuses me. It is clear at the beginning which temple is indicated, and that He is telling the disciples what is going to happen with the destruction of the temple. However, from v. 27 onward, it sounds like Jesus is speaking of His second coming, but unless He suddenly jumped forward a couple thousand years, that can't be it especially since He said it would be immediately after the tribulation He described (which can be proven in scriptures and historically the things He described already happened). Please explain this. Thank you.

Sister Traveller,

Well, then we have more in common than our love of Jesus and His truth, for I am not a preterist either.

I believe Jesus did answer the direct questions of the apostles in chapter 24 . . . but in chapter 25 where He begins the parable of the ten virgins where the five wise ones secured the necessary oil for the duration of tarrying of the bridegrooms coming. I am inclined to believe Jesus was turning from addressing the near future to the time that would follow afterwards and till the end. That it would be necessary for the believers to use their time, resources, and talents (as follows in the follow parable) to be ready for His coming, as he says in verse 30,

I addressed this with the submittal of Josephus account in the OP. I will repost it and comment thereafter

I thought it would be interesting to submit also Josephus mentioning of Jesus in his historical accounting . . .

Josephus Antiquities of the Jews Book XVIII, Chap. 3 - para 3;

SEDITION OF THE JEWS AGAINST PONTIUS PILATE. CONCERNING CHRIST, AND WHAT BEFELL PAULINA AND THE JEWS AT ROME,

3. Now there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man; for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews and many of the Gentiles. He was [the] Christ. And when Pilate, at the suggestion of the principal men amongst us, had condemned him to the cross, those that loved him at the first did not forsake him; for he appeared to them alive again the third day; as the divine prophets had foretold these and ten thousand other wonderful things concerning him. And the tribe of Christians, so named from him, are not extinct at this day.

Thank you, William. This is an interesting Bible study, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I read through your explanation, and it makes sense. I'm going to look into it more in depth as I have time.

So, there are many things that Jesus said directly to, and about Israel which will certainly have some principle application to some events in the last days. But that is because of God

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
