A little something I was musing over earlier today....

How do we define God's goodness?

Do we:

A) Study the Scriptures to learn of God's ways and goodness?

or

B) Decide what goodness is and then apply that to God when we read the Scriptures?

Now I am sure everyone here is jumping on, "A - of course!"

But do we? Do we really?

If you are claiming "A" right now - let me ask you . . . . how has your understanding of goodness been changed by reading the Scripture?

So this is the challenge:

I'd like to see postings of Scriptures that show what God's goodness is. (Now, I don't mean posting, "The Lord is good" - because that doesn't explain what goodness is, what it looks like, how it operates. This is what I want to see.)

All right?

Go!

My reply straight up is - I had read about His goodness through the Bible but it wasn't until I had experienced it physically/Spiritually that I connected Scripture and His goodness toward me as an individual - it was when I had experienced this that I was able to then go forth and apply it through my actions/words to others -

So . . .

How is goodness defined and described here?

What is "good"?

wow Neb! There's so many scriptures. However, to pick just one - how bout this one?

2Ch 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of [them] whose heart [is] perfect toward him.

Now how special is that? The scripture doesn't say to show Himself strong in that particular person, or those living over there - but to those "whose heart is perfect toward Him." In other words, for the true worshipper of Christ. For the weak, He is strong. I think to champion for the weak is an example of goodness.

Wow so hard to just put in a few sentences....How can one fully comprehend the Goodness of God...Its when we come to the cross and see the Love and Mercy of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ dying in our place...when the cross becomes real and alive to us and we can understand the magnitude of what God suffered for us to reconcile us back unto Him...how can we even begin to understand the Word of God til we get saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, thus He has opened the eyes of our spiritual understanding..and opened our hears to hear... truely hear....

Luke, 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father forgive them, for they know not what they do............ :shower:
