McKinney relief boat rammed by Israeli navy

By CRAIG SCHNEIDER

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Monday, December 29, 2008

A boat carrying international peace activists, including former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and medical supplies to the embattled Gaza Strip sailed back into a Lebanese port on Tuesday after being turned back and damaged by the Israeli navy, organizers of the trip said.

The crowds on the docks in the Lebanese port city of Tyre were jubilant and cheering as they welcomed the vessel.

The boat, which set off from Cyprus Monday wanted to make a statement and deliver medical supplies to embattled Gaza. The trip

Well, if they did not try to run the blockade, this would of never happened. I see this as stupidity on thir part. If they allowed the Israel Navy to board, all would of been well for them ...

If they didn't find themselves opposing the God of Israel they wouldn't have been in that situation either.

I have to wonder what they hoped to achieve by doing what they did, Israel is at war. I also wonder what might have happened to them if they had gotten into Gaza at this time. Some people really need to read the history and listen to those clerics and others who say out right Israel has no right to exists, would they be so willing to help those who want an entire people wiped off the map. Yet I cannot see anyone of those who feel the palestinians have more rights to the land to ever change their minds.

Unfortunately, many will not understand until it happens to them. If Mexico, Canada or Cuba started launching rockets into the US, those here who are so against Israel would change their mind real fast.

Oh no wait, that's not hilarious, because human life is actually worth something.

I'm laughing but let me make it clear that I do NOT wish any harm to come to Ms. McKinney or anyone accompanying her. Hopefully she, and the others, will leave that area of the world and come home to do their protesting. Hamas won't appreciate anything done for them anyway.

Good to hear glory, but my comment wasn't meant for you.

The people on the boat concern me, but I'm most worried about the dying Palestinians including children who were waiting for the medical supplies the boat was carrying. How can a Christian laugh at this? So the boat made a stupid move...Would you laugh at an ambulance if it got wrecked because the driver ran a red light?

Also, I see Cobalt is reading this thread. What do I win if he changes the subject to abortion?

There is no such thing as "palestians." It's a made-up term.

We can put semantics aside because it doesn't matter to me what KIND of people these people are, just that they ARE people.

Perhaps if this humanitarian effort would have went through the proper channels and not tried to run a naval blockade, this wouldn't have happened.

There's something ironic about talking about "proper channels" in the same place bombs are dropping. Tell me, were those Palestinian children killed through the proper channels, or are they just collateral damage?

The fact of the matter is, if Hamas was not lobing missles and mortars into Israel daily, the attacks on Gaza would never have taken place. Where is your outrage over that?

We can debate historical context all day, and you would probably win, but I'm looking at the immediate threat to life. People are dying, a boat trying to help them got damaged, but we here at Worthy are laughing about it because apparently that boat stands for something we don't like.

Where's Jesus in us?

Life is precious, and it's just as precious to Israel. :emot-highfive:

Grace to you,

Lorax,

I'll answer your question when I hear your condemnation for those who seek the extermination of an entire race of people from the face of the earth. Until then I will laugh at bozo's like Cynthia McKinney when she opposes the very God of Israel. :emot-highfive:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
