Superbowl Sunday

And the Arizona Cardinals are in it???

Still dont understand how THAT happened.

I found myself praying today for the safety of all the players staff and spectators. I got curious about the praying habits of others. Does anyone here pray that their team will win? Or that another team will lose? Your thoughts?

The only time I've ever prayed for a sport was during the Olympics lol... it was kind of silly. It was for a particular person to win or to have enough endurance or something like that. I never prayed for saftey, thats a good point Ayin!

I was pulling for the Cardinals to win the Superbowl. I didn't want to pray about the game, but as soon as I muttered "Lord help the Cardinals", Kurt Warner threw that touchdown pass to Larry Fitzgerald that gave them the lead with under 2 minutes remaining. Then when the Steelers were on their game winning drive I said "Lord, I know it doesn't matter who wins, it's just a game, and it's not really important, but I would hope the Cardinals pull it out. Unfortunately they didn't. But I believe the Lord can teach His children even through a football game loss. So even with the loss, I believe that the Lord will comfort the players that rely and talk to Him. Because it's their profession, their job, and it's a big deal for them. I would have loved to see Kurt Warner get that win for those Cardinals though. Cardinals had a magnificent season either way. They're the 2nd best team in the NFL for this year, and that's a place their franchise has never been before. I hope this season was the beginning of a winning culture out in the desert.

But of course now that this season is over.....

Go Panthers in 09!

Normally I don't really, but since Wagner has been so adamant about talking about the Lord whenever he can, I was praying for him to have a testimony to the Lord that the media couldn't ignore.

Maybe I'm weird but the only time I cared about following sports was when I was in high school football. I've never cared since. :emot-hug:

I can understand people wanting to pray though - for whatever reasons but I don't. Just me...

But you didn't bother explaining why. I think that how you pray about anything is what is important, not necessarily the subject.

I look at it this way...God, the Creator of the universe, has more important things to do than direct the outcome of the SuperBowl. I believe that He isn't hung up on how we pray....as long as we do. I have actually carried on a running conversation with the Lord while doing my laundry. Does he care that I'm sorting clothes while praying for one that needs Him? I tend to doubt it.

I wish I could have a running conversation... my prayers are usually one way, silence then a reply. Usually in a form other that audible.

      You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose.       Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
