  1. Can you get married in another country?
  2. Are you not the same person a Bo Peep?
  3. Welcome to Worthy, Sean. Some people don't understand what the words faith and works mean. Faith has the same root word as believe. One is a verb and the other is a noun. So believe means to trust or rely on, adhere to. Works are the product of believing or of faith. Some people think that the thief on the cross didn't produce any good works. Let's look at what he said to Jesus on the cross. Luk 23:39 LitV And one of the hanged criminals blasphemed Him, saying, If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us. Luk 23:40 But answering, the other rebuked him, saying, Do you not fear God, for you are in the same judgment? Luk 23:41 And we indeed justly, for we receive things worthy of what we did. But this One did nothing wrong. Luk 23:42 And he said to Jesus, Lord, remember me when You come in Your kingdom. Luk 23:43 And Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, Today you will be with Me in Paradise. He believes that Jesus had done no wrong. He calls Jesus Lord, and believes He will be King of the Jews and preside over His kingdom. I consider this as much of a work as the confession of most Christians joining Jesus' church. Jesus accepted his confession of faith saying he would join Him in paradise that day. He did as much of a work as anyone being crucified could do and uttered the good confession.
  4. The Son of Man was the title of the Messiah given in the O.T. He is God born of Mary. He also calls Himself the " I AM:"in John 8 which is what God called Himself in Exodus 3, before He called Himself YHWH or Jehovah. This is translated LORD in most translations because His Name is too holy to say aloud. Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. Joh 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. Joh 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men; Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, glory as of an only begotten from the Father, full of grace and of truth. Colosians 1 and Philipians 2 also speak of Jesus being our Creator.
  5. 1Co 9:24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Php 3:8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ Php 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— Php 3:10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, Php 3:11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Php 3:12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Php 3:13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, Php 3:14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, Heb 12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. Heb 12:4 In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
  6. Mat 4:6 and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, "'He will command his angels concerning you,' and "'On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.'" Mat 4:7 Jesus said to him, "Again it is written, 'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'" We are also supposed to obey civil authorities. I am a vulnerable part of the population--75 with COPD and diabetes. A person in their 30s with a very mild infection who goes to church could easily kill me if they sat behind me and especially if they coughed or shook my hand. So I shelter in place, wear a mask and gloves when I pick up groceries. I have only seen 2 other people do this.
  7. One of Fenelon's chapter titles is "Only Imperfection is intolerant of Imperfection". Another is "Sensitivity to Reproof is the Surest Sign that we Need It" Both of these deal with a person's pride. When our pride is gone and we live in humility we are no longer sensitive. We are no longer defensive. Nor are we judgmental about a person's temptations or failings. We have gained compassion. A person with compassion can speak from the heart and with edification because love is in his heart. He can be gentle and with compassionate love tell the truth. Telling the truth should be never be hurtful from self righteousness or from being judgmental or condemning. Most often the latter is because we have logs in our our own eyes.
  8. Charles Stanley is the only TV pastor I will watch. Dave Bectal's sermons would get me laughing and suddenly I would realize I was laughing at myself. His humor allowed the Holy Spirit to touch areas of my life I had been guarding. He used Far Side cartoons for sermon illustrations. Steve Winnery methodically preaches through the Scriptures. I never fall asleep. Watchman Nee: Sit Walk Stand, The Release of the Spirit, Twelve Baskets Full. Corrie TenBoom: Amazing Love, Not Good if Detached; Her simple illustrations stick with me Fenelon: Let Go. He wrote short letters like:"Sensitivity to reproof is the surest sign that you need it"
  9. Next ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you may be empowered to do His will. He will fill you with love for the people who ignore you, even for those who may ridicule you for what ever reason. You will learn to see others through God's eye and see their need. You will learn to have compassion on them. Our greatest stumbling block is our preoccupation with ourselves. God can enable us to be preoccupied with others and eager to enrich their lives with God's love for them.
  10. we have 2500 cases, 125 deaths and no toilet paper.
  11. they may be making masks and gowns instead.
  12. If only they had included toilet paper in the deal.
  13. I remember having those things but no sign on the house. They wanted us to catch the "childhood diseases" in my day. We were too sick to go outside and play or go to school. I really remember hurting so bad with mumps, and that my dad didn't want to see me after I gave them to him. My next door neighbor had polio and I remember the sign on her house. It was the official kind from the public health office.
  14. In WA we have been ordered by the governor to shelter in place. We can leave the house for food, maybe gas, and medical appointments. But we are encouraged to go for walks or exercise outside as long as we stay 6 feet from each other. I have been told they might close down the borders. They still aren't dealing with the toilet paper shortage.
  15. Isolation has been used for many centuries and should be used more. We use it in the hospitals whenever a person has a communicable disease, as well as when people are susceptible due to poor resistance. That is called reverse isolation. Mask and gloves, goggles and good hand washing are the standard. People were isolated in place during the polio epidemic in the 40s and 50s. My next door neighbor and my husbands home had signs on their doors. The biggest difference is the speed in which covid 19 spreads to people who are unaware they are carriers till symptoms become evident. So it amazes me how slow people are to use the best standard methods of preventing the spread of disease. WE SHOULD NEVER TEMPT GOD BY IGNORING ISOLATION WHICH WAS COMMANDED BY GOD IN LEVITICUS 14 MANY CENTURIES AGO . Should God instruct me to lay hands on the sick I will do so, and have done so at times. But it is foolish for people to do so at will when they are over 70 and have a chronic lung condition. It is the invincible teenagers that will ignore our governor's shut down and spread the disease. My grandchildren are among them. So wash your hands AGAIN! Use a bandana for a mask and wash it every night with bleach added. Use common sense. Don't hoard food but pray for our daily bread. Mormons are supposed to hoard a years worthy of food and provision so we will all convert and go to them when we get hungry. I remember this from their own literature. So if you need TP, knock on their doors and ask to use their bathroom. They are sure to have some TP.
  16. We still have long long lines crowding the isles to the checker. the soup isle is empty. Only 2 cans of anything can be purchased at a time. I can't buy distilled water to be used in machinery (we have extremely hard water.) Bottles of drinking water are getting very low and TP is not to be had. That is the biggest worry. Paper towels are scratchy and not flushable as are the junk mail that we could use to wipe. Enoob said that leaves work but our new leaves are still coming out and last years simply are not suitable. Glad things are better where you are. Spokane is a little better as well.
  17. How true! He likes to attack us when we are down and most vulnerable. He doesn't play fair at all. He use to attack me when I made an error in my checking account and was overdrawn! I would panic. Now I just get annoyed that I have to recheck everything. Back then it was paralyzing dread. I finally realized that the enemy was trying to steal my joy and keep me from being useful to God and from being a blessing to my family. As soon as I woke up to the wiles of the enemy he left me alone. He shrinks from being exposed to the light and the truth. Praise God that He has set us free! However, It is good for me to remember how it was before God came into my life. The fear, the guilt, the darkness and the hate. For a short while I am reminded of what people face daily who are of the world. My compassion is renewed as God fills me again with His Holy Spirit. Thank You Jesus!
  18. My nursing instructor told me of a man in her church who had a stroke and kept repeating things he otherwise would never have said. Sometimes there is brain damage that causes things like this.
  19. It is true that we should turn from sin where we find it. But if we are in the kingdom of light we are God's kids. We just cleans ourselves by the washing of the word, and agree with God by confessing our sin. He has ready forgiven and forgotten. He continues to cleanse us, changing us from glory to glory. If your child has a dirty face you wash it. God our Father is the same way. He doesn't reject us for having a dirty face or even if we don't wash it. It is God who cleanses us and makes us fit for His Kingdom.
  20. I don't know the date that I was saved either. It has been 60 years. I developed a hunger to read the Bible and to know Him better. I hungered to draw close to Him. I wanted to follow Jesus and to learn of Him. However, it took 10 years of searching, back sliding, and seeking God afresh to finally fall at God's feet in total surrender. I was totally broke, knowing that I couldn't ever be good enough for God that no good thing dwells in me of self and I needed Him to rescue me. Was I really saved back in 1958? Maybe not, but God certainly had called me. In 1970 He started speaking to me again, guiding me and drawing me to give money to the poor and to support the churches. He began showing me my lack of love, that I could not love as He does, laying down my life. He told me He was changing me from a vessel of dishonor and changing me into a vessel of honor. He did this by allowing a lot of poop to be dumped on me and learning when it was men, or the enemy, or by God using these things to accomplish His will. He taught me to respond with love to those who used me and despised me, and to walk as Jesus walked. He still calls me into continuous relationship with Him, keeping me close to Him. How do I know that I am a Christian? I have been treated the way people treated Jesus, and responded as He did. And He taught me to pity them as Jesus does, with grace. Do I do this consistently? No. Amazing grace! But I know that His love is growing in me and that only His life in me could do these thing. It is not I but Christ Who lives in me.
  21. Unfortunately he speaks the truth. Thanks to Adam and Eve every one of us is headed to hell but for the blood of Christ and His resurrection, which conquered death for us. Those who humble themselves and trust Christ for their holiness, asking Him to be the Lord and Master of their lives, need not fear. Believers are instantly changed from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His marvelous light when we are born again. Praise God!!!!! Hallelujah! No more fear. Come quickly Lord Jesus! Heb 2:14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, Heb 2:15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.
  22. Your religion differs much from Christianity. We get right with God through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, which He placed on the heavenly Mercy Seat for our sins. Gal 2:16 NKJV “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. My dad told me that if I am right, then he had based his whole life on the wrong premise. It is aways sad to see a wasted life, but my dad repented and trusted in Christ's blood to make him right with God. Rom 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. In trusting in the Sabbath keeping or law keeping to make you holy and righteous you are only creating your own righteousness--self righteousness. When you trust in the blood of Christ to sanctify you are trusting in God's righteousness.
  23. Hi, Paul, good to see you again. Missed you.
  24. On Monday we had one case from another county who survived. By Friday we learned of several deaths and about 20 cases in our town. It spreads and multiplies really fast. A Senior living quarters has a lot of cases here. So ;you may not have heard of the cases near you yet, but by the time you do people will be dying from it and many of the people they exposed will have it. Too many people will think they have a bad cold and are exposing everyone. So if I go out I will wear a mask, gloves, sunglasses or goggles, and wipe things down and wash my hands often. Food is being rationed. 2 cans per person. Tell that to my dogs. That is one day of food for them. There is no alcohol sanitizer available. A recipe for it that I heard is 2/3 rubbing alcohol and 1/3 aloe vera gel. So I will continue to pray for those I know who, like myself, have severe asthma or weakened immune systems. Both of my daughters in law have immunity problems. It is very possible that the politicians will try to use this to set up a Marxist society or the new world order if it results in economic collapse. But our civilization has endured pandemics in past centuries. I do hope that everyone takes it seriously enough to practice frequent hand washing. I worry most about the teens and college age group that think they can't be touched by it and only the elderly will be affected. Most schools are turning to the internet for education. People are being resourceful and becoming drive in restaurants. Our church once talked of dividing into home churches if this happened. But I never dreamed it could happened so fast. 10 people are all that can legally gather in one place in our state, and this is also what our president recommended.
