  1. It cannot be God because there is no evil in Him. Satan became proud and tried to overthrow God in heaven, so he and 1/3 of the angels were kicked out of heaven. We are told that in the millenium satan will be bound and people have the option of evil, which they again choose.
  2. No Scriptural referenced but St. Luke was a physician and he traveled with Paul. Person experience is that I was unable to get surgery done in time and now spinal arthritis is quite bothersome. I couldn't find a doctor to do it before medicare kicked in. I do recommend doing it while you can.
  3. Question: "When did the church begin/start?" Answer: The church began on the Day of Pentecost, fifty days after the Passover when Jesus died and rose again. The word translated “church” comes from two Greek words that together mean “called out from the world for God.” The word is used throughout the Bible to refer to all those who have been born again (John 3:3) through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 10:9–10). The word church, when used to reference all believers everywhere, is synonymous with the term Body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22–23; Colossians 1:18). The word church first appears in Matthew 16 when Jesus tells Peter, “On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” (verse 18). The “rock” here is the statement Peter had made, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (verse 16). That truth about Jesus is the bedrock of the church that has flourished for over two thousand years. Everyone who makes that truth the foundation of his or her own life becomes a member of Jesus’ church (Acts 16:31). Jesus’ words, “I will build my church,” were a foretelling of what was about to happen when He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell believers (John 15:26–27; 16:13). Jesus still had to undergo the cross and experience the resurrection. Although the disciples understood in part, the fulfillment of all Jesus had come to do had not yet been accomplished. After His resurrection Jesus would not allow His followers to begin the work He had given them, to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19–20), until the Holy Spirit had come (Acts 1:4–5). The book of Acts details the beginning of the church and its miraculous spread through the power of the Holy Spirit. Ten days after Jesus ascended back into heaven (Acts 1:9), the Holy Spirit was poured out upon 120 of Jesus’ followers who waited and prayed (Acts 1:15; 2:1–4). The same disciples who had quaked in fear of being identified with Jesus (Mark 14:30, 50) were suddenly empowered to boldly proclaim the gospel of the risen Messiah, validating their message with miraculous signs and wonders (Acts 2:4, 38–41; 3:6–7; 8:7). Thousands of Jews from all parts of the world were in Jerusalem for the Feast of Pentecost. They heard the gospel in their own languages (Acts 2:5–8), and many believed (Acts 2:41; 4:4). Those who were saved were baptized, adding daily to the church. When persecution broke out, the believers scattered, taking the gospel message with them, and the church spread like wildfire to all parts of the known earth (Acts 8:4; 11:19–21). The start of the church involved Jews in Jerusalem, but the church soon spread to other people groups. The Samaritanswere evangelized by Philip in Acts 8. In Acts 10, God gave Peter a vision that helped him understand that the message of salvation was not limited to the Jews but open to anyone who believed (Acts 10:34–35, 45). The salvation of the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26–39) and the Italian centurion Cornelius (Acts 10) convinced the Jewish believers that God’s church was broader than they had imagined. The miraculous calling of Paul on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1–19) set the stage for an even greater spread of the gospel to the Gentiles (Romans 15:16; 1 Timothy 2:7). Jesus’ prophetic words to Peter before the crucifixion have proved true. Though persecution and “the gates of Hades” have fought against it, the church only grows stronger. Revelation 7:9 provides a glimpse of the church as God designed it to be: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.” The church that Jesus began will continue until the day He comes for us (John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17) and we are united with Him forever as His bride (Ephesians 5:27; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Revelation 19:7).
  4. Got Questions: New FAQ Ask Intl Chat Donate What is the Church Age? Question: "What is the Church Age? Where does the Church Age fit in biblical history?" Answer: An “age” is an historical period of time or an era. Some historians divide human history into many epochs and name them according to their defining characteristics: Middle Ages, Modern Age, Postmodern Age, etc. Biblical history, too, can be divided into different eras. When those divisions emphasize God’s interaction with His creation, we call them dispensations. More broadly, biblical history can be divided into two periods, roughly following the division of Old and New Testaments: the Age of the Law and the Church Age. The Church Age is the period of time from Pentecost (Acts 2) to the rapture (foretold in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). It is called the Church Age because it covers the period in which the Church is on earth. It corresponds with the dispensation of Grace. In prophetic history, it falls between the 69th and 70th weeks of Daniel (Daniel 9:24-27; Romans 11). Jesus predicted the Church Age in Matthew 16:18 when He said, “I will build my church.” Jesus has kept His promise, and His Church has now been growing for almost 2,000 years. The Church is composed of those individuals who have by faith accepted Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord (John 1:12; Acts 9:31). Therefore, the Church is people rather than denominations or buildings. It is the Body of Christ of which He is the head (Ephesians 1:22-23). The Greek word ecclesia, translated “church,” means “a called-out assembly.” The Church is universal in scope but meets locally in smaller bodies. The Church Age comprises the entire dispensation of Grace. “The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). For the first time in history, God actually indwells His creatures, permanently and eternally. In other dispensations the Holy Spirit was always present and always at work, but He would come upon people temporarily (e.g., 1 Samuel 16:14). The Church Age is marked by the Holy Spirit’s permanent indwelling of His people (John 14:16). Scripture makes a distinction between the nation of Israel and the Church (1 Corinthians 10:32). There is some overlap because, individually, many Jews believe in Jesus as their Messiah and are therefore part of the Church. But God’s covenants with the nation of Israel have not yet been fulfilled. Those promises await fulfillment during the Millennial Kingdom, after the Church Age ends (Ezekiel 34; 37; 45; Jeremiah 30; 33; Matthew 19:28; Revelation 19). The Church Age will end when God’s people are raptured out of the world and taken to be with the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:51-57). The rapture will be followed in heaven by the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:6-9) as the Church, the Bride of Christ, receives her heavenly reward. Until then, the Church carries on in hope, exhorted to “stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
  5. Those under the teaching of Peter also had the baptism of the Holy Spirit and were part of the Church. The church started in Acts 2. Those baptized by John may not have been a part of the Church since they later had hands laid on them to receive the Holy Spirit. Those who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit belong to God. Rom 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
  6. The fact is that Peter and Paul preached the same gospel. This was verified when Paul went to Jerusalem to compare his teaching to the other apostles. Paul challenged Peter about circumcision but Peter agreed with him. The trust of this is that the Holy Spirit inspired all of the New Testament and Old Testament 66 book cannon. One of the proofs is that there is no error found there like those found in the aprocrypha. 2Pe 3:15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 2Pe 3:16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.
  7. One of my favorites. Like that ancient stringed instrument.
  8. Since there is proof in the emails that appear he is grooming the boy, the guy should be kept from contact with minors.(if he is not fired). Then he should be put on probation for 5 years. Many people learn to speak Christianese and are good actors but are not genuine Christians. Christians tend to be gullible and get excited when someone goes through the motions and claims to be a Christian. Even after counseling few pedophiles genuinely reform. I know a guy who raped both of his teen aged daughters which is why his wife divorced him. He married many times after that and I shuddered when I saw the kids in the subsequent families. I couldn't reveal how I learned the details of the case because I was not allowed to according to the legal contract I signed when I was employed by the hospital. By the way, each state has its unique laws concerning the ages and child rape.
  9. 1Co 15:1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 1Co 15:2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 1Co 15:6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 1Co 15:7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
  10. I notice that most of us trust in and depend on God's word in the Bible, where as you are depending on and trusting in your feelings. True faith is based on God's word. Feelings change with our mood, our health, our hormones, the weather etc. God never changes and He can't lie so His word is dependable.
  11. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. :You will never be good enough for God's free gift. That is why it is a gift of grace. Grace cannot be earned. It is a gift not based on whether we deserve it. It is based in God's love which is so great we can't possibly understand it. Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, Eph 2:5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 1Co 1:26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 1Co 1:27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 1Co 1:28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 1Co 1:29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 1Co 1:30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 1Co 1:31 so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." Enter the rest from your own effort and relax knowing that Jesus did it all for you and perfectly. That is His gift to you. You are set free from needing to do or think anything just right or enough. You already have Jesus' free gift. Start thanking Him for all He has done and all He has given you. Just be thankful and praise God.
  12. The bridegroom will go and prepare a place for you (His bride), adding a room to his father's house and returning to take His bride (the Church) home after the betrothal time or when the Father approves of the construction of the room. That is why only the Father knows when He will come for us.
  13. My driver's license has an iris scan, my cell phone takes a finger print scan and is already talking about facial recognition in the future. I told my kids that should I die they would have to make sure they got my picture or print if they want to open my phone and change its ownership. I thought it was sort of funny but they didn't want to consider it.
  14. I have no idea why they were called Australian Cattle dogs because they were from the US. Sorry, my mistake. I had them confused with Australian Shepherds which were Basque but first traveled to Australia? before coming to western US where they completed crossing them till they excelled in the environment. They are an excellent working and herding dog. They often have each eye of a different color. I always laughed because a guy claimed he had the first ones made available outside of continental Australia, but they were not from Australia. He just liked to tell tall tales.
  15. They are amazing cattle dogs and were bred in the USA, not Australia. I watched a cowboy on a quarter horse working with a cattle dog to cut and herd cows. It was pretty amazing. The horse and dog worked in sync to get the cow to move where they wanted it. I am sure the Cowboy was communicating with his legs but it looked like the horse and dog were working together and the rider was just trying to stay on the horse.
  16. That is why the Passover lamb is taken into the home for several days to be inspected before it is slaughtered. It teaches just how much it cost the Father to see His own innocent Son to be tortured and slaughtered as He was going to and upon the cross.
  17. My pastor has a small farm and brings a small donkey and a sheep every Christmas for the children to see. This requires a roundup. It consists of pastor running the length of the pasture many times and for hours after that sheep. I am not sure if the sheep was sacrificed after the last time but pastor may have at least been thinking murderous thoughts. After all, he is nearly 60 and not in the same shape that he was in his football days. The kids are no longer in 4H and they also have a cow, chickens, a horse or 2, the pigs.....so there is no need for that stupid sheep. Another pastor used to raise turkeys. We were compared to that flock of turkeys. He would go out to drive them into better pasture. The ones in front would slow down, the ones in back would still be charging, and the upshot of it was that they would all take to flight back to where they started. Had there been turkeys in the Holy Land, they might also have made it into God's parables. Off topic a bit is the Good Shepherd who guides His sheep dogs with His eyes. Psa 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Psa 32:9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you. After watching the border collie working with the shepherd I thought of this psalm. The dog watches the shepherd's gaze. When it turns toward straying sheep the collie hardly needs the whistle--he is already racing after the sheep because he was watching the shepherd's eyes. Some dogs are very visual and watch where we are looking, whether it be the TV or the direction we we about to throw the ball. One of our dogs would always be there to catch the ball in the air and couldn't be outsmarted or tricked. He was watching the ball thrower's eyes. We need to be gazing into our Master's eyes as well, and go where His eyes of concern are looking.
  18. Sheep scatter without their Master They are dumb and they stink; those shepherds that sleep with their sheep smell like them, too. They were not allowed in the Jewish temple without a ceremony of cleansing. They needed a bath! But little lambs are so cute and like to play "king of the mountain" and stand on top of their moms. Jesus was also the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Like the scapegoat, the sins of the people were placed on His head and He was led outside the camp and away from Jerusalem to die. He was also the Passover Lamb that was inspected for several days to be sure it was without flaw, innocent and pure. Then one was sacrificed for each family, and it all had to be eaten quickly while standing as their forefathers had done before the exodus from Egypt, so the death angel would pass over their house having the blood of the lamb on the mantle and door posts. Isa 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

    Unpardonable?

I was backslidden when our first son was born. Knowing that my influence would only last a few years and then their dad would be the big influence, I first started again following Christ, and then started praying for my husband's salvation. It took a few yeas since he had been pretty hardened and enslaved in sin. But he first asked God to help him and then told me he didn't know why he had waited so long. He had peace!. He was baptized 6 months later and then our sons started begging to be baptized as well. 45 years later they and their families are serving God. Your family certainly will follow your leadership. It may even influence their children. That is why an unsaved person's sins are visited on their children down to the 3rd and 4th generations. It is the ungodly influence on them. So I am asking God to also make you a godly influence on your children. So don't lie to Him, tell Him exactly how your feel and why. Then pray "God have mercy on me, a sinner", You only need to ask God to make you willing. God is good at that.
  20. Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Lev 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. Deu 18:12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. H178 (Word Study Dictionary) אוֹב ’ôḇ: A masculine noun meaning a conjured spirit, a medium or necromancer; or a leather bottle. The primary use of the word is connected to the occult practice of necromancy or consulting the dead. It is used to signify a conjurer who professes to call up the dead by means of magic, especially to give revelation about future uncertainties (1Sa 28:7; Isa 8:19); a man or woman who has a familiar spirit (Lev 20:27; 1Ch 10:13; Isa 29:4) A familiar spirit has its root in the word family; it was an evil spirit that imitated the loved one who has passed away. James Pyke was an Episcopal priest who was drawn away from God by trying to communicate with his dead son. Many Christians who are not grounded in God's word get drawn away from God and into the occult through this. The enemy attacks when we are most vulnerable, as Jesus was when he fasted and was lead into the wilderness to be tempted by satan, or when we are grieving. It is fairly common that this occurs, which is why people from Mexico who observe the Day of The Dead often make shrines for their dead relatives and leave food for them and other rituals to invite the deceiving spirits to speak with them. Remember that satan can change himself into and angel of light to deceive us. 2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
  21. Rev 4:8 NKJV The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" Rev 4:9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, Rev 4:10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: Rev 4:11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."
  22. For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies. Refrain: Christ, our Lord, to you we raise this, our hymn of grateful praise. 2 For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night, hill and vale and tree and flower, sun and moon and stars of light, [Refrain ] 3 For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child, friends on earth, and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild, [Refrain] 4 For yourself, best gift divine, to the world so freely given, agent of God's grand design: peace on earth and joy in heaven. [Refrain] SongwritersFolliot S. Pierpoint
  23. We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing; he chastens and hastens his will to make known. The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his name, he forgets not his own. Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine; so from the beginning the fight we were winning; thou, Lord, wast at our side, all glory be thine! We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, and pray that thou still our defender wilt be. Let thy congregation escape tribulation; thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
  24. We may have ham. My family doesn't like turkey. That is down right un-American of them. But they do make an awfully good baked ham.
  25. We associate Thanksgiving with turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green been casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls and pumpkin pie. Lately they have decided that no-one from their house likes turkey so they have been fixing a baked ham instead. No one asks me to pray ever again because when I do the food gets really cold. My cousin's Italian husband must have spaghetti with it all.
