  1. I sounds like an ancient melody.
  2. Exo 3:14 WEB God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Exo 3:15 God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations. Note that YHWH is interpreted as LORD, Jehovah, or Yahweh because His Name was considered too sacred to say aloud for fear of saying His Name in vain. Isa 44:6 This is what Yahweh, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, Yahweh of Armies, says: “I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God. Rev 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, ” says the Lord God,“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
  3. The last time we had a huge fuel price increase and no social security increase, it was explained to us that the fuel prices are not figured in to the cost of living increase. I don't remember the lame reason that was given. The tax reform bill really let us down in one area. We are no longer allowed to deduct medical expenses. That is the one thing that seniors really need. The cost of medications is horrible. One of mine is $2000. out of pocket for 90 days of medication! Several more are over $1000. Sure, cheaper ones are available, but If I can't tolerate them it leaves me with high priced ones. That is 2/3 of my 3 month income. Since meds are rising each month, I seriously doubt that the greater personal deduction that will be allowed will cover the increasing expenses for seniors. Back to the OP. I voted for the Republican platform. The only thing I liked about Trump was his published list of Supreme Court justices that he said he would pick from. His biggest downfall is the tariffs bringing on a trade war. The same thing happened when Wilson tried it and he goes down as one of the worst presidents because of it, and because of leaving the gold standard. Trump really needs to back off of that one! It has made enemies of our friends around the world. It started with retaliation for the currency manipulation and terrifies other countries impose on us. We have had a negative trade ratio with these countries, especially in the east, for decades; it definitely has contributed to our declining economy. The best thing he has done was to encourage industry to come back to this country.
  4. Most agricultural areas agree. We need laborers to pick fruit and work in the hops and grapes. It is a year round industry even though the fruit doesn't grow that long. The trees and vines need to be maintained, pruned etc and it does take some skill. Picking asparagus is back breaking work that few are willing to do, as is working in onions though our Italian immigrants still do it. Other crops like soy beans and wheat require the use of dangerous equipment as can be told by the number of accidents each year.. In the 50s the laborers used to be brought in by family groups and each patriarch was responsible for his people. My dad had been a social worker and said that they almost never had problems with the Mexican immigrants. It was drugs that made the difference over the years. Now human trafficking. How wicked our world has become, that it preys upon children and the innocents who don't understand English. It corrupts and warps them. We have many people who are good citizens and wanna be citizens among the Hispanic populations. Some of our best artists and craftsmen come from among them. And there is nothing better that home made Mexican food, especially tamales. I have many friends from among those peoples, and befriend more every week. It is fascinating to compare the ways we were raised with older Hispanic women. Often we hold a lot in common. Unfortunately there is also a lot of reverse discrimination here. Much hatred of white people exists and of law enforcement. But the latter is a sign of the end times. Those immigrants who hate and break our laws and hate those who enforce them need to be expelled from our country and kept out at the borders. I wish we could do the same for all who are native born of citizens that hate our laws and law enforcement. In cultural anthropology we learned that that Aztecs used to use the Baja peninsula as a penal colony. Often I have though that it would be nice if we could empty our prisons and send them all to antarctica and isolate them somehow. However, some of them have also been rehabilitated and reformed by God's grace. Believers exist among them; but a portion of those are deceivers and con men, I have noticed. Still, we occasionally have prisoners as members here on Worthy. Our church and many others have jail ministries and those who are not as hardened have become members of our church and others. Blessings, A different Republican.
  5. Joh 6:53 WEB Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves. Joh 6:54 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. Joh 6:55 For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. Joh 6:56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him. Joh 6:60 Therefore many of his disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying! Who can listen to it?” Joh 6:61 But Jesus knowing in himself that his disciples murmured at this, said to them, “Does this cause you to stumble? Joh 6:62 Then what if you would see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? Joh 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life. Jesus is saying that God's word produces life. His flesh doesn't profit anything. The Eucharist does nothing for you apart from God's word. He dwells in the word, not in the elements. Your explanation of Hebrews is really poor exegesis. It has nothing to do with falling away from the Catholic church. It might have something to do with falling away from Christ. The Catholic church is not Christ and has in fact fallen away from the teaching of the Bible; it corrupts its meaning to justify itself.

  7. MAY 24, 2014 BY JACK WELLMAN 10 COMMENTS 408 God is holy but what exactly does the word holy mean? What does the Bible define as holy? Root Word for Holy The Hebrew word for holy is “qodesh” and means “apartness, set-apartness, separateness, sacredness” and I would add that it should also be “otherness, transcendent and totally other” because God is totally above His creation and His creatures, including us. Holy has the idea of heaviness or weight of glory. In the New Testament, the word for holy is “hagios” and means set apart, reverend, sacred, and worthy of veneration.” This word applies to God because God Himself is totally other, separate, sacred, transcendent, reverend, and set apart from every created thing. Since God is spirit this is why the Third Person of the Trinity is called the Holy Spirit. He too is fully God and all three Persons of the Trinity are holy and have the weight of glory abounding in them. Holy, Holy, Holy God has many attributes just like I do. I am a father, a husband, a son, an uncle and so on but God is merciful, patient, longsuffering, and abounding in love but the only attribute of God that is mentioned three times is apparently His predominant attribute. He is not just holy, but He is holy, holy, holy. In Jewish liturgy, when something is incredibly important, it is mentioned twice. Jesus does this when He says something twice like “verily, verily” but this is also signifies great intimacy when He repeats someone’s name twice like Moses, Moses; Abraham, Abraham; Saul, Saul…but when something is mentioned three times in a row, it is off the charts in importance and this is why of all the attributes of God He is holy, holy, holy. That is the greatest emphasis that can be put on anything or anyone in Scripture and this is telling us that this is the most important thing about God. God is holy, holy, holy. This is the only attribute of God that is mentioned in the Scriptures three times!
  8. This is ridiculous! That you could take his post as a personal attack is unbelievable. If you hold these beliefs, they are false beliefs but they are not who you are. At least I hope that you don't consider the ideologies friend listed to be your identity because they certainly all contain a false gospel.
  9. The criticism was not directed to an individual but to the new age and the false ridiculous teaching of the post modern churches. Some have decided that Jesus was a black man, as in Black Liberation Theology taught at Harvard and elsewhere. That was the allusion to race. We are discussion issues, not any one person here. The truth is that Jesus was the same color as middle eastern people of the Mediterranean region, not that skin color is important at all. God looks at us as saved or not saved.
  10. Desert (philosophy) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search "Just deserts" redirects here. For other uses, see Just deserts (disambiguation). Desert (/dɪˈzɜːrt/) in philosophy is the condition of being deserving of something, whether good or bad. I believe the meaning of desert in this case in not departure but deserving, since grace has much to do with God's mercy to the underserving. . It makes more sense to me to say that Grace cannot act where there is either deserving or ability: This is given as the last definition in most dictionaries, if included at all.
  11. Our associate pastor was the first to befriend and truly love my husband. They became good friends. Hubby needed mentoring and trusted very few. But no one had even tried. Pastor Mitch preached and shared at hubby's funeral, and shed a few tears over the loss of his friend. Several unsaved people spoke of how much it meant to them. Mitch isn't the best teacher and preacher, but he is full of God's love.
  12. No one mentions that Hillary confessed her affair with a military officer around the time of her husband's scandal. Then the officer died about a month later. Humm. Inquiring minds want to know.
  13. The problem is that God loves sinners but hates their sins. That is why God provided Jesus to wipe out our sin and confer on us His righteousness, so that we can be in God's presence and He can live in us. So God really loves and pities your gay friends and wants them to come to repentance. However, when you are listening to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to guide you, He will open up opportunities to witness to them. Sometimes they even ask you questions. At times like that I say a quickie prayer: " God, give me Your words--" Then I trust Him to give me what I need to say. But without God's holy love for them dwelling in you, your words will be empty noise. So do keep praying for your friends that they be saved. Ask God to open their eyes and prepare their hearts. Salvation is a free gift. God saves us because we need His help. We can't earn salvation. We come as we are and He changes our desires to conform to His will. Then we learn to follow His Spirit as He draws us. He usually starts by leading us to turn away from our sin and desiring His forgiveness through Jesus. Then He may create a hunger for the Bible, for being baptized, and for fellowship with other Christians. We may even have more love for our old friends because of God's love growing in us, but often our old friends reject us. That is hard, but just pray for them more, care for them anyhow, and forgive them. That is what Jesus did.
  14. We also attended marriage seminars. Marriage lasted 54 years. Sometimes they were small retreats given by our church. We also attended a Sunday School class on family relations and raising kids. Our sons attended large ones. They are going on 25 years and agree that putting the effort into improving a marriage is well worth it.
  15. Loved the worship but couldn't find another copy that didn't go silent. The first time it played it went into a medley of another song! Don't know what happened.

  16. I just wish our pre school sons had learned to say that instead of "no!" They were a hand full, but well worth the effort.
  17. God judges us by whether we have surrendered to Him as Savior and Lord, allowing Jesus to indwell us and live through us. He judges us as to if our names are written in the Lambs book of life. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.
  18. Sometimes it is the pride of life that causes a person to think they have surpassed their spouse. You can also call it the pride of education. Instead of understanding that they compliment each other they start thinking one is superior to the other. I had people stop speaking to me because they graduated from a private college and I from a state college. But I know many guys that had their wives put them through college and then dumped them as soon as they graduated. It had more to do with using people. It takes as much effort to make a marriage work as it does to graduate from college. Marriages take time, communication, appreciation, and they need to be cultivated. I have to admit that I went back to college after our kids were in grade school and it felt awfully good to communicate in multi syllable words. But I never felt that way toward my husband. He had excelled in math and I in languages. We complimented each other. We need to value and appreciate each others gifts. My dad had a masters degree and my mom a high school diploma. But their marriage was till death as was mine.
  19. I have always loved this song, and even have the album that looks just like that!
  20. `The bottom line is what things were inspired and led by God's love; what things were not I but Christ working through us; what thing are worthy of our casting our crowns at the feet of the Lamb. What things were done out of duty; what things were done for selfish reasons; what things were done were in fact self effort and a work of the flesh creating self righteousness.
  21. After you receive that Jesus Christ died on the cross to forgive you for your sin and arose from the dead; and then in thanksgiving surrender to Him the Lord and Creator of the universe, you are born again of the Father. This cannot be done by a baby. We can be born again now. We receive the life of Christ, His Holy Spirit which is the down payment of the salvation of our bodies. The salvation of our bodies is the last part of our salvation that occurs after our bodies die. We can know the joy of our salvation and the love, joy and peace He brings right now. Jesus said that he came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. We can face life with His strength knowing He will never leave us or forsake us. The problem is that some receive Jesus as "fire insurance". They don't want to go to hell but they don't want to live for God, trusting in His guidance and instructions as helping us through life. They don't receive Him as Lord. Joh 1:1 NKJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. Joh 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. Joh 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: Joh 1:13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Rom 10:9 ESV because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 1Co 15:1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 1Co 15:2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 1Co 15:6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 1Jo 5:12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1Jo 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. 1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1Pe 1:4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 1Pe 1:5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
