  1. Matthew Henry in his commentary on the creation of Eve put it. She was not made from his head to rule over man, nor from his feet to be trampled under foot, but from his side, close to his heart to be loved, under his arm to be protected and cherished. That was a view of Eve, as the bride of Christ how much more are we loved, protected and cherished.
  2. Leviticus 19:1+2.The Lord spoke to Mosses saying, " Speak unto all the congregation of Israel,, say to them" Yo shall be Holy as I the Lord am Holy." They failed to live Holy lives, just as we achristians fail to live sinless, holy lives. It is why we need Jesus.
  3. We especially have to prove our ideas against the bible and against those Christians who have proved themselves to be faithful servants of God. In being suspicious of what other Christians have written over the years, articles tested and approved by other Christians, one is I danger of constantly re inventing the wheel. How do you know that William Tyndale was a faithful Christian doing God's work in translating the Bible into English. Have you tested it? Where do you stop testing everything?
  4. 613 Laws : We Read in the New Testament about Sins that will Keep Us from Heaven : How do those Sins connect to the 613 Laws? Define what you mean by 613 laws? example you could say how many laws there are in America, numbering all the federal laws, each state laws and talk about the total number of laws required to be obeyed by an American. But it would be incorrect. There are three types of biblical laws, the ceremonial, to do with temple sacrifice and worship, the civil laws about getting along with other people and the moral laws about living to please God. Which laws are you referring to? We all need to remember it is the failure to keep one law that keeps one out of heaven, it is why the bible labels us All as Sinners, we have All sinned.
  5. I'm coming late to this thread. You say you are on disability benefit, are you also getting Housing Benefit from your council? Are you in touch with the social services? your doctor will supply written confirmation that you need help from them. You complain, rightly, about a lot of super spiritual nonsense from christians. Please be blunt and ask your minister how he and the church intend to help you. Can they take you to appointments, shopping, to church, are basic helps. Form filling, as you are partially sighted someone to sit and type for you would help. The occassional invite for a meal or to supply a meal, help with housework, laundry etc are all things you could ask your minister about the biblical requirement to help those in need.
  6. What does Paul tell us in Corinthians about the earthly body and the spiritual body?
  7. May I request that you review the history here as between thedays of Joshua and the time of Nehemiah are several hundred years and a great deal of history. Times of great spiritual awakeness and sadly times of great depravity, but your suggestion of only one period of a golden age is not correct.
  8. This is the judgement found in scripture of the Pharisees, that he ate with traitors and sex workers and those ritually impure. There is no such thing as " non sinners ", for Jesus living on earth was to always be with sinners.
  9. Your friend here are two on line bible resources. Bible gateway and bible hub, they will enable you to read any ' questionable ' verse in multiple translations on the same web page, thus helping ones understanding of that verse. Here the translators chapter heading gives you a clue. God will judge all who do not live up to his standard, as the bible says All have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God, so judgement is to be expected, yet there is also hope for those who are humble and contrite. how can someone santify themselves and at the same time eat food that is unclean, it shows how far from God those who think they can live as they please are.
  10. Deut 28 is about obedience and disobedience and the consquences. The bible clearly shows that the Israelite disobeyed and suffered the results, being taken off into exile. As the bible also shows, a remnant returned.
  11. You cannot take one verse out of context and question that solitary verse4. Re read the chapter, even a casual read shows that God is talking about blessings for obedience and the consquences of disobedience. Many of those consquence can be seen being worked out in the bible. They had recently left egypt, it was fresh in there minds and the threat of being returned to egypt would be, to them, a real threat, far more than a decent threat of being taken off into a remote xile. So were those curses ever carried out? Yes they were. Did the Israelite get shipped back to egypt? No they didn't, but they were carried off into exile.
  12. Jesus ate with sinners, that is fellowshipping with them. We don't have to identify with their lifestyle choices, but we are called to live in the same world, work in the same firm, have them working along side us etc etc
  13. Whole heartedly agree but with the addition that our due diligence is in learning from other Godly men, otherwise you have people constantly reinventing the wheel.
  14. So are you saying we should not learn what the bible says, not learn to explain, to reason out what and why we believe or to learn what false beliefs teach and how to counter them. I hope you are not saying that we should let go and let God, teach us, train us, provide for us etc. For Paul talked about training like an Olympic athlete, or being a fully trained and equipped soldier, both of those mean very hard work over a long period of time. Paul talks about training g, not sitting back waiting for the spirit to speak.
  15. You clearly do not live in the real world where people of very different views mix. Are there no couples in your church where they married as non Christian and after marriage one became christian? Do there marriages fail, do they cease walking with God? Non christian friends, wow what a small world you live in. So when Easter and Christmas come round, when your church does a men's meeting you have no non Christian ' friends ' to invite. Ever noticed that it was the pharisees who add rules and laws onto God's commandments. We are to imitate Jesus the ' friend ' of sinners
  16. There are two areas here in our Christian and church life. In our secular life. Both involve how we view and receive information and both depend on our own knowledge and wisdom. False information never comes at you like a charging elephant, it is always presented as a subtle little thing that slips past you untill one has accepted it having heard it many, many times. Sometimes this is down to how it is presented and because everyone else accepts it, other times it is because of ignorance. an example, many people accept that mormons are Christian, they see others accept they are, the have talked with them or read posts by them, but they don't know what they believe and so accept the false information that they are Christian. In our secular life society does not live by Christian morality and because of the constant exposure to world views and due to a lack of clear teaching many Christians live not as Christians but as secular atheists, example, how many Christians have sex before marriage.
  17. We prepare for heaven by living now. The saying:- Those who are most heavenly minded are of most earthly use! Is true, if we are obeying Jesus's commands, we are showing his love to a lost world.
  18. Greed, but that is where it starts, with the historical facts of the crucifixion and resurrection. We need to remember that there a solid historical bases for Christianity.
  19. interesting Paul uses the phrase, what I received, I passed onto you. As you rightly said, he was not present on the night Jesus gave the last supper, but he had met with Jesus and with the leaders in the church in Jerusalem and had had confirmation from them that he preached the same message they did. What is especaly interesting is how atheist historians view his use of this phrase in 1 cor 15:3-7 and how they view this as an early example of a Christian creed dating back to months of the crucifixion. One article about it is at:- https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/earliest-evidence-christianity/ there are plenty of others look up Dr G Habermass and his talks on the resurrection.
  20. Chesterons answer to ' What's wrong with the world? ' " I am! " Is also the answer to the comp, ain't in this thread. Who has shown no interest in learning about Christianity? Who has been lackadaisical in there private devotions? Who has not listened to the meat of the gospel preferring to drink milk? Who has not challenged their congregations on spiritual and moral issues? Who has not brought spiritual meat before their members, encouraging them to digest it? The list goes on and on but basically the responsibility for the decline in our churches is ours. The old testament refrain, if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, turn from their wicked ways and pray. What will hapen?
  21. Jesus said, by this all men will know that you are my disciples if you have Love for one another. If there is no affection, how are we to Love one another.
  22. If you are still living in there home, then you obey them except where obedience goes against God's commands. Unfortunately one often has to earn the right to speak about hristianity in families or workplaces. Instead of openly talking about the gospel, rather use conversations about the news etc to show where their morals etc come from. It is Christianity that gives us equality under civil laws, rights as individual and political freedom. Atheism/agnosticism has to borrow these concepts, but cannot justify them. Start following the reasonablefaith Web site to start learning about the logical reasons for being a Christian. For scientific reasons try winteryknight.
  23. We are saved by both Jesus's death and by his life. Through his death he paid for, atoned etc for our sin, guilt and shame, through his resurrection we know that he has done this and that his earthly teachings are to be followed. The fruit of reconciliation is a Christ like life. In what capacity do we serve, where ever we are.
  24. As I understand Matt 5:13+14 is that we are not setting out to be or to do, but that is what we are. If we are following Jesus, if we are seeking to obey him, to be like him, then as a result we will be salt and light to the world. A part of this that is not popular is 1 Peter3:15, always be prepared to give the reason for your hope. To give a reason why one believes means learning what and why one believes. Christianity 8s not about just having faith.
  25. Google it, I found several reports on big investments to farm insects for animal feed and as food supplements. As to whether it will happen, depends as to whether it makes money.
