As has been said Atheism covers a mutltude of views and there are many reasons why people are atheists. Our role is to be a 'rep' for Jesus, to live a consistent ' holy ' life that actively demonstrates the love of God for All man kind. That is, as you are aware, this is not an easy or simple task. There are two questions that can help a discussion with anyone. What do you belief? For a ' hurt ' unbeliever, Does the existence of an abusive teacher negate/destroy what they teach, so does an abusive 'christian' prove there is no God?

Do you live in the real world, interacting with real people, with real needs, problems etc, or are you shut away in your room never going out? You say WE are to Punish disobedience in people who live around us! Don't you know that it is God who will judge the living and the dead, who will reward or punish according to his justice and mercy. No where in the bible does he tell us to judge and punish other people. In the OT he pronounce judgement on people and used other people to enact his punishment. He has not done this for our times, you do not have the authority to pronounce judgement and punishment on people you don't know.

There is nothing wrong with having doubts or questions about ones faith. Look at John the Baptist, in prison he was full of doubts. Jesus didn't rebuke him, he gave him the evidence he needed to reasure him. When we have doubts we should seek the answers. Christianity is based on historical facts and not myths or legenfs. Answers can be found and believed.

So get up and start again. In the bible the apostle Paul likens the Christian life to being an olympic marathon runner. So check out the churches in your area, the site Christianityexplored will help find one and if they are running this course sign up for it. Christianity is also likened to being a family, and families don't live in isolation, they meet up, talk, etc etc.

We don't need to pray for what we are already told how to do somethinfg. Matt 5:44 pray for those who perscute you. Pray for them, does NOT mean saying " God bless that person. " Itmeans like the many prayers recorded in the bible, being aware of their needs, situation etc and praying intelligently about them, for the good of the person who persvutes you and to do this regularly. One cannot pray intelligently and regularly for a person without coming to love that person.

How easily you are decived. Ask them to say ' Jesus is Lord' Pray with them, Praising, thanking Jesus for his salvation and asking Almighty God the Father to banish any evil spirits from your life. All Iam trying to say is that Christians who are effective in life, are Christians who have learnt to explain their faith. That it is not a case of just saying ' just believe!'

How strange, the world according to you has not been influenced or changed by Christianity. So Christians in the roman world didn't stop the practi of exposing unwanted babies, the gladiators games. That the medieval monasteries research and preserved education, that the Christian wor.d view influenced science, ( can you explain why maths works, or science works? ) Look at the work of Christians in science, society protecting the poor, fighting slavery, reforming prisons etc etc etc To say that christianity does not affect those around one, is to say one is not a Christian.

Actually it is taken from a number of biblical images of God's people being washed clean. Yes salvation is far more than our sins being forgiven. It starts, as far as we are concerned with our repentance. This is a biblical premise that forgiveness by God or by us Always starts with repentance.

All I can suggest are two things. 1. Ask him does he recognise that he has a problem? If he does not recognise that he has a problem, there is nothing anyone can do. 2. Point out that his drinking is destroying his life, that he will loose his job. Do reassure him of your continued support and challenge him about what he believes to be Christianity. Ask him, " what do you believe is Christianity ? ' And ' What is his evidence for that belief?'

In genesis 2:15 Adam is given responsibility for the garden of Eden. Just how hard he would have had to work we don't know because he fell before he had an opportunity to care for it. It cannot have been as strenuous as farming became.

First requirement is for you to identify Jesus's law or commandments, before you try to instruct people. Jesus said, A new commandment I give you, to love one another as I have loved you. So how do you think we should obey that?

Tells us that everything is in Gods controll, and that we do not need to worry about the futre.
