  1. It is not that we are born with sin, but that we are born with a bias towards sin. We are all moral beings and which.e we cannot save ourselves by good works, we are still morally responsible for how we live and act. Ultimately we are judge by how we respond to Jesus.
  2. It starts in genesis where God made a " covering " of animal skins for Adam and Eve, blood was shed then and from Ables murder we learn that blood is life. We learn in the Mosaic laws that God has to be approached via sacrifices of perfect ani also, that dealt with there sin. We now know that these point towards the one perfect sacrifice of Jesus. We learn that it was costly, it was a dirty messy business, blood, burnt burning flesh/fat, smoke and smells. That the worshiper had to identify with the sacrificial animal, he was there with a hand on its head as it died. It was a serious business, as people from Cain through many others discovered God is not mocked and there are no short cuts to a relationship with him We come via the cross, through Jesus or we don't come to God..
  3. The brutal answer is what is more important a mans soul and life or the life of an animal? To preserve an animals live, how many people are you willing to have die? The animal sacrifices in the bible, would you, if you lived then happily see killed a lamb every year so you could worship God?
  4. Ever watch a parent helping a todler learn to walk? They start off holding both hands, progress to holding one hand, then they abandon the child to walk three or more steps on their own to where they are waiting to catch them. No Christian is ever alone, abandoned by God, it might feel like that but learn to distrust your feelings and to trust facts.
  5. A good story which clearly iollistrates two poblems. 1 the ignorance of non christians. 2 the ignorance of Christians. Non christians, ignore the rules God has set and expect everything to go well, in there favour. Christians either are not taught anything other than the milk of the gospel or want learn to understand the meat of the gospel.
  6. It depends on the circumstances, if at work where one cannot leave, then asking them not to discuss whatever it is in one's presence can work. Sometimes it is an opening to discuss right and wrong and to challenge them where there moral values come from. If they are friends it can be easier to ask them to stop, they should know you are a Christian and be prepared not to talk about some subjects. Be prepared for name calling behind your back and to your face, the world does not like light being shone on its darkness.
  7. Yes it's only the bagpipe beast that runs clockwise round mountains.
  8. Paul was not a doormat to be walked over, he recognised that he had legal rights and was prepared to use them to further the gospel. Many people have gifts and skills that they were given by God and have worked hard at to perfect their use of those skills. Few Christians deny that there abilities come from God, though it must be hard if you are in the public eye to be constantly giving glory to God for something that has taken years to perfect.
  9. We are to share one another's pains, to weep with those who weep and Mourne with those who Mourne. This is difficult for those who have not had there own pains.
  10. Why not ask, why doesn't God stop people from sinning? We are not robots, we are all responsible for our actions, whether for good or evil.
  11. I am sorry to learn of this. May you know the peace that only God can give in situations like this. To trust God when life is falling apart takes courage and determination. God is there for us supplying moment by moment the grace and strength to carry on.
  12. No, simple because a person is more than just there genetic make up.
  13. No mental illness does not produce faith, it can and does distort faith and love into a parody of faith or of love but it does not produce real faith or real love. Religious extremist are not mentally ill, any more than a football fanatic or a political extremist is mentally ill. As there is a God, only those who worship and serve him in accordance with his will have any claim to sanity. Think about it, just how sane is someone who denies there is a God?
  14. You are assuming that just one cloned cell equals another human being. Not every fertilised egg results in a human, so not every cloned cell is going to result in a human being.
  15. The new covenant is between God and each worshipper. Baptis in the nt is by followers of Jesus on their profession of faith. " Christening " is a pagan practice, adopted by the rcc.
  16. If one wants to discuss the Truth, one has to permit those who don't know the truth onto a forum where the Truth is. As Christians we are to be ' in ' the world, not part of it or hiding from it.
  17. Evolving is change by chance, preparing a place is intelligent, directed activity. Whether that place existed before, or whether it is deliberately created from nothing, it has not been the product of mere chance.
  18. How do you come by that idea? I wrote, " All life is from God." So if a scientist managed to clone a living person, he will only have done something that God allowed to be possible.
  19. Sorry, you don't understand what evolution is. It is the gradual change, in theory of complexity from simpl3e life tro complex life For God to prepare a place is not evolution but creation.
  20. All life is from God, so if human scientists manage to ' clone ' a human being, then that persons soul will be created by God.
  21. Many people have questions about Christianity and about whether there is a God. Ask questions of them establishes more about where they are and how honest they are about seeking God. Basic questions are:- What do you believe? What evidence do you have for that belief? But even more challenging is to ask , what evidence would you accepte that demonstrates there is a God? Why is that acceptable? and What are you going to do about the evidence that there is a God? To expect a miraculous sign to prove God exists is not reasonable, especaily if that sign does not lead to a change in belief and practice of the sceptic. We have to be able to give a reason for our faith, equally the skeptic should give a reason for there unbelief.
  22. As what we call ' science ' is totally dependant upon a Christian world view, then yes any scientific theory that is understood by the bible will confirm that the bible is true. example to belief in evolution is to deny the bible, so evolution is false.
  23. Bah humbug to all who encourage romance.
  24. If your church is teaching this, leave. Otherwise just where is this being taught?
