Seems to me science makes far more claims based on ' authority' then ever Christianity has made. If science is as dependable and as ' scientific ' as you are claiming why haven't scientists been prepared to argue there case. There have been atheist conventions where they have been challenged by Christians to debate science. The Christians have challenged atheism to present there experts and the Christians would have an ' expert' qualified in that field to debate them. Terms shared video copies available to each side, costs to be shared, a mutually acceptable chairman etc. Guess who were so unsure of there arguements that they would not meet the Christians. Even Ken Ham, wh is not a scientist they would not meet. Here is a final thought. An atheism explain why science and reason works? They are dependant on a Christian world view for there understanding of why it works.

I can best explain through a true life story. Billy Bray a 19th February Cornish man was asked about prayer. His answer was," See that copper kettle the wife has been polishing. Now you give that a rub every now and then and it will stay bright, but you let it go green and you'll have a hard job getting it all bright again." Have set times in he day when you read scripture , think and pray, also as you have need pray. God knows your intension so quick ' arrow ' prayers kin an emergency, or rapidly mumbled prayers about a friend's situation are as acceptable to God asking eloquent verbose prayer.

What I meant to add is that Jesus returns with his angels and those who are with him in heaven. The rapture is for those still alive at his coming. And, is where the departed a major issue or one of secondary importance. The important question is, did they know Jesus as Lord and Saviour? If they did then we will meet them in heaven. My personal view is that as God is outside of time that when we die, we to move outside of time into where ever God is.

Relationships are a two way conversation, if your mother only permits her understanding, her view of how things have to be, then it is abusive. If you are still living in the same house you should leave. If you are living in your own home, limit your contacts with her. Explain that you disagree with her reasoning and that you are not prepared to be abused by her. That if she changes you will have more contact, ditto with any grandchildren etc. Do ring her regularly, arrange to visit say once a month, remember significant dates with cards and flowers etc You can hold out a hand of fillial respect and love, she has also to respond.

Borderline, anxiety disorder plus witchcraft

I have just left a nonbeliever forum.
Who me replied to a topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
This referrs to marrying someone, not to being on forums, membership of clubs, working in nonchristian firms or having non Christian friends. Many forums are hostile to Christianity, if you are posting on such a forum, two things to remember. 1/ that your email and identity used to gain entry to the forum are burnable. I'd you can use and discard that cannot be used to trace you. 2/ follow the rules of that forum and use them, if the forum moderators will not enforce the rules leave and abandon that email etc. -
Yes Christian live in the certain factual historical truth that is Christianity. The faith we live by is not a woolly that wishful thinking. Unlike other religions Christianity can be tested, our faith is bolstered by knowing it is historically true.

We have given you our ideas, if you follow this link :-https://winteryknight.com/ it takes you to an article where different religions are compared and there claims are are compared. if you are serious about examining religion take a look.

I wish I had Christian Friends. Is God talking to me?
Who me replied to JTC's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
https://christianityexplored.us/ Is what appears on my computer, once in scroll to the bottom of the page. There is a section ' find a church in your area' I typed in New York state and it came up with 800 church addresses. As for evangelising asking people what do you belief? Is a good starter as you learn what hey believe. Following it with what evidence do you have for that? Gets them thinking and gives you the chance to show how reasonable and historically accurate Christianity is. Just be sure that you too can answer those questions without having to say ' well just have faith '. Another site that is useful for finding answers is coldcasechristianity, run by an xcoldcase detective. -
Please, in light of recent events, consider the following
Who me replied to DanielConway's topic in Eschatology
No, I don follow links blindly. The subject is a boring pointless subject. All we need to know about the second coming is that Jesus will come and that he expects to find his people busy, active in serving him. So stop reading these sites or if you met look spend the same amount of time on apologetic sites and on missionary sites. Then get active gosipping the gospel to family friends etc and seeking areas to serve. -
I wish I had Christian Friends. Is God talking to me?
Who me replied to JTC's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
Two questions. What church did you used to attend? Does it still exist, do you still know people there? Sorry that question raised subscuent questions, basically why are old Christian friends in touch with you? Second question check out the christianityexplored web site for churches in your area and if there are any, get in touch with them. I just had a quick look and there are over 800 churches in the New York State registered with christianityexplored. One of those churches should be able to have a member ring you to have a chat or help you get there services on line. -
Hebrews 1:2 these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. it is Jesus, the second person of the trinity who created all things and who keeps all things, including us, in being. If we want to know about God then we must also know his written words.

Take These Three Verses And Call Me In The Morning
Who me replied to Riverwalker's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes that is all one can say. When life hurts we can call out to God in our pain, fear and tell him, yes tell him it hurts, that you don't understand, that you want to know Why Me etc etc etc. God already knows what you are thinking, so he honest. It takes a deliberate act of will to say, ' I will trust you. ' God does strengthen yo, to cope with the next 30 seconds, the next few minutes. He never gives you the strength for tomorrow, as you don't need it, it is not tomorrow. God helps you Now. -
Is it right to make people take classes before baptizing them?
Who me replied to Hopefully's topic in General Discussion
Why are people baptised? Possible this has already been answerd, for me it is a witness to others of what has already happened. They are already a Christian, it is not a process that makes one a Christian. Without a baptismal class it can be a pointless thrill seeking event. Let me tell you a story. A great number of years ago I was part of a 20's church group, we would meet for Bible studies and for social events. Well on this Saturday we has arrange to drive to the coast, maybe swim, certainly picnic, go for a walk etc. We got to a small coastal resort and were walking along the beach and came across a crowd. They were singing hymns and there was a line of people being baptized in the sea. We had among us some non Christian friends. One of whom decided they want to be part of this and joined the queue and was baptised. This person wasn't a Christian they weren't challenged or as far as I could tell even asked whether they believed in Jesus, just dunked in the sea. A pointless thrill seeking event for that person. Classes, form filling, challenging has a perpose in weeding out those who are not real. -
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the ]substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is saying I know that my redeemer lives. Faith is not a keep of blind faith but trust in what is known. only atheism is a blind keep of faith, hoping that there is no God, no judgement and no heaven or hell. christianity is the opposite of that.
-
As has already been said your giving to God, charity or any other cause is between you and God. If a church makes tithing a condition of membership I would expect a very high level of openness in the annual church meeting about how that money is spent. It follows no openness don't even attend such a church. But why aren't you a member of a church?
-
What evidence will you accept? This is a Christian forum so I am assuming you have already discounted All other religions. Ultimately if you can demonstrate that Jesus did not rise from the dead you will have disproved Christianity, but it follows if you cannot do that, then you have to face the historical facts that Jesus lived, was crucified, burried and that he rose from the dead. Who can come to life again? What other religious leader has done that? Then there is the unique claim of Christianity that you do not have to reach a standard of holiness, you do not have to follow strict rules about how you live in order to please God or to earn a reward. God offers you forgiveness, rightousness and a place in heaven all you have to do is accept it. What other religion offers as much?
-
As we do not know the future, often counting the cost of being a Christian is impossible. Having made that decision we have to live by faith and trust Jesus to keep us no matter what the situation is.

Please use your phone to follow this link:-https://iocdf.org/expert-opinions/25-tips-for-ocd-treatment/ It has very helpful section on coping with intrusive thoughts, so please do read it. You are bored, have nothing to look forward to or challenge you. Are you old enough to get a job or to volunteer to help charities? If you are start seeking to find a job or place where you can help. Are there food banks in need of Packers for example. May I suggest you change your routine. After waking, washing, dressing and breakfast. Get your Bible and a set of Bible reading notes and sit down and read the passage he notes suggest, read what the notes say and follow any suggestions about prayer. Can you go for a walk, if so do that every day. Give some of your time to looking for work, any job is better than no job. Spend some time reading Christian blogs, following Christian missionary web sites and praying for what you read. A physical activity that gets you off your phone is to learn a craft, help with food preparation, house cleaning or doing things like jigsaws and other puzzles. Try to do at least one different thing each day.

None of us deserve any of the blessings God pours out on us and it is to our shame that we consider our prosperity our right. All too often modern 'christian' songs are about worshipping us not God. Jesus gave us a far stricter interpretation of the ten commandments, we if we love him are to obey that spiritual' understand of the law. When did you hear that listing after a girl was equal to have sex with her and apply that to the rest of the commandments and how we show live by that understanding.

Is God going to "spit me out?"
Who me replied to rachelizabeth's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
May I ask you a question? What is it that makes you think you are a Christian? Note no where does the Bible endorse belonging to a church, having followed a series of rite or rituals, or being born into a nation or a family make one a Christian. John 3:16-18 is worth reading as is Romans Ch 5. Yes all of it. It is Jesus's death and resurrection that saves us, not being baptized or belonging to a church etc . If you church does teach this may I suggest searching the christianityexplored web site for a church that is biblically based and if they are running this course sign up for it. Otherwise talk to your minister for personal councelling. -
You have read the ten commandments, what situation are you facing that is not covered by them? You have read and heard sermons on Jesus's sermon on the mount and how he made keeping not just the letter of the law, but the keeping the spirit of the law vital. That is Do not commit adultery, the spiritual application is do not lust after pretty girls etc. If you are struggling to understand this ask either here or your minister to explain what you don't understand.
