  1. Pray what you feel. You don't have to speak eloquently or formally. "Lord Jesus, I need a lawnmower. Amen" When I wake up in the morning, I say "Good morning, Father." When I eat, I just say "Thank you, Lord." Your methods may vary.
  2. Same here. If I tried to run, I'd be sucking wind so bad that anyone with a half mile of me would suffer from oxygen deprivation.
  3. Far better ways to deal with a baby born from rape. There are tons of couples (some with infertility issues) who would LOVE to adopt.
  4. To echo what a previous user posted, I liken it to eating food sacrificed to idols. The thing that bothers me is not the physical exercise, but the "emptying of mind" or whatever the goal is. IMO, clearing the mind is akin to the Scripture talking about the man's house being clean and in order, with the expelled spirit returning with a bunch of his buddies.
  5. Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. ~ Isaiah 52:1
  6. Sacrifice and offering you did not desire but my ears you have opened. Burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. Then I said, “Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll. I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” ~ Psalm 40:6-8
  7. Before the internet, back in 1994, I bought their 1974 self titled debut. During that time, I was only familiar with the Volz/Schlitt eras, so you can imagine my shock when I heard THIS gem:
  8. HUGE Petra fan here. Have every studio album they put out. Grave Robber has a very significant place in my heart. My mom passed away from cancer in 2008, and this song serves a reminder that I will see her once more when I enter the Kingdom. (I actually prefer this version of Grave Robber to the original.)
  9. John 10:11- "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep."
  10. Those are the verses of the Shema. My godparents learned it when they went to Israel last October, and they had the Hebrew verses transliterated to English, and we would sing it before Sunday School. Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheynu Adonai Echad Baruch Shem Kevod Malchu'to Leolam Vaed
  11. I definitely would like to go to the Ramp sometime. They're in Hamilton, Alabama, just 300 miles from me, so that's not too bad a drive. I did get to go to IHOP in Kansas City a couple years ago for my 40th birthday, which was a really great experience.
  12. I've seen Kutless, Disciple, Seventh Day Slumber, Decyfer Down and Fireflight several times over the 2007-2009 period. I saw Skillet once in 2009.
  13. I wonder what Hosea went through in his day, being yoked to a prostitute. I get that there was a bigger picture there, but still..
  14. Just get on youtube and look up the phrase "Called to Flag". It's also the name of that particular channel and the people who make my flags. See their videos for examples.
  15. That's where I'm at right now. Once a mindless robot during worship, now I dance with flags in my hands at the back of our sanctuary.
  16. I'm an assistant manager in retail, and I consider myself blessed to be where I'm at. Most of my customers are regulars who I see all the time, and there are times when they open up about their problems, thereby giving me something (or someone) to pray for. To me, I'm being the church by doing my best to serve in the environment I've been given.
  17. I think the biggest difference between Peter and Judas was that Peter was spiritually immature (as many of us are, or have been), but he repented and was restored. The Bible says that Judas was remorseful, but instead of repenting, he committed suicide. But I digress. As for the unpardonable sin, the context in which Jesus says this relates to the Pharisees attributing Jesus' miracles to Satan, especially since He performed many of those miracles right before their eyes. I know of lots of people who fear that they have done that very thing, and I was one of them until I learned the context, and backed up my repentance with scripture (See John 6:37, 2 Corinthians 7:10)
  18. NIV for me. Particularly the Zondervan study Bible.
