i usually say nothing, although i like the "where" comeback! i do notice when people say His name in vain though, and feel a stab, right in my heart. sometimes i feel that stab real deep, when i hear it come out of my own mouth. i think i feel it deepest when i hear it come out of my daughter's mouth, because kids learn from example, and i'm afraid i've set a poor one ;)

I'd like to know how you respond or react when you hear someone curse using Jesus name? I just cringe when I hear this and would like to know some clever retorts that don't sound 'judgemental'.

Sometimes I ask half-jokingly , "Hey, how come people never say "Buddha! Or Mohammed!!!"?

I've said "not His fault" before too.

Sometimes I say a quick silent prayer for them.

I've often thought that it would be perfectly okay, and possibly funny if, when I stubbed my toe, I spewed out "Ah Buddah!!!" but more than that, I'm looking for responses from anyone else out there.

There's another forum where I post fairly regularly and it's not a Christian one. Just one about country living, basically. Anyway, some of them routinely typed their posts full of curse words, and I never really replied back with anything about it. But, as time went on, and they got to know me and that I was a Christian, and after witnessing to one of then online in front of the rest of them, and another one via email, it got a lot better. I really believe they did that out of respect, but I'm not sure. However, not all people have any respect for others beliefs like that, so that's not always the answer either. I just tried to be an example to them, and they picked up on it? I don't know.

I tend to hear it...and then forget I heard it.....after I pray for the utterer of His Holy Name in vain.....Most people swear to get attention....or to get a shock value reaction....or to force ably

enforce their own statement but uttering "shock" words in addition to their statement....like it really matters what they are saying in the first place if they have to take Jesus name in vain to

put the dots on their "I"'s and cross their "T"'s ....

to me its like giving in to a bully on the playground....give him a reaction that is appealing to him..then he will continue to bully.....ignore him..and take the wind outta his sails....and soon he will loose interest and move on..... :t:

I want to tell about what my husband told his boss once. My hubby is very quiet, but his boss kept saying Jesus F... Christ and one day my hubby snapped and pointed his finger in his face and said "don't you ever talk about my Saviour that way again", needless to say I don't think he has said that anymore!

So many people say "Oh God" and I hate it. I have gotten to where I don't even say gosh, although sometimes I forget. :)

I don't generally respond to such cussing that uses the L-rds name many of us have done so in the past..but occasionally I do say something.

Once after someone had sworn in Jesus' name I asked him if he loved his mother...he said yes very much...I asked him her name...he told me....How would you feel if everytime something went wrong or I stubbed my toe I shouted out your Mums name?.....He got my point.

Sometimes it is such a good opener to witness to people about the name that is on their lips I can't help jumping in with some comment and it often leads to other things...I always think of Paul wandering around on Mars Hill looking for an opportunity to challenge those Greeks with the claims of Christ...and I think rather than letting this cussing get to us..we can sometimes turn it into a great opportunity without in anyway being heavy-handed or judgemental.

I was at work one day, and there was a conversation going on at the breakroom table. In the course of the conversation of my coworkers used the Lord's Name in vain while saying, "I don't think it means a G-D thing!" He looked at me and said, "what do you think, David?" I replied, "I think the Bible says, "Thou shalt not take the Name of The Lord your God in vain." He looked at me, and the whole table got real quiet. He could tell I was upset. He and I glared at other for a few seconds while he tried to regain his composure and move on. He has never used that word in my presence since.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
