Gave up satellite tv and bought a roof antenna. That has saved us a lot of money.

Quit paying someone to mow the lawn, and do it myself.

We got a central heat and AC system and keep the AC on 74 in the summer and usually about 68 in the winter. I know some suggest 65 in the winter and having it warmer in the summer than 74, but I don't feel like being completely uncomfortable for the additional savings.

By the way, cutting off your internet is ok as long as your friend doesn't mind you using their computer. They might get tired of that arrangement after awhile.

I quit using my stove and oven. We have a gas outdoor grill and use it - this also keeps the heat outside. I also have an electric roasting pan that holds a fairly good sized turkey, and a deep electric frying pan. We us a toaster oven and the microwave. This all helps cut the electric bill.

We also have a nice garden and I either can or freeze our produce. I eat a lot of tomatoes, zucchini, etc.

We traded our gas-hog pick-up in on a more economical car.

We have a flock of chickens for eggs and, yes, meat. But...that's a long story. No eggs so far, and I've named the roosters so that makes it very difficult to eat them  We've talked about getting a milk cow. Between chickens and a cow we would be able to eat even if money got really tight. The cost of the winter food for the cow would be a bit, but if we had the cow and did the milking, we could share with our neighbor who plants acres and acres of hay each year - milk for hay! The milk cow could have a calf and that would be food, too - or sell it.

We got some of the light bulbs that are cheap to run and replaced the regular light bulbs.

That's all I can think of right now.

Get your groceries from ALDI's. You can buy things like dried beans, pasta, meats etc in bulk and then split it up for storage. Aldi's also has generic toiletries and diapers and such.

I save a lot of money by shopping at Wal-Mart and buying the store brand on most items. You would be surprised how much you save by purchasing Better Value products like mayonaise, cola, and bread. Sometimes you come out better at Wal-Mart doing that than purchasing in bulk at other places. I guess you would have to compare to see for sure. For instance, there are some items I can find at Dollar General cheaper than anywhere else, and others I can get at Food Lion at a good price.

I would imagine that most of us are doing a lot of things to save money without even thinking about it.

I pay $15 a month for an online game...

I never go out to dinner anymore.

I never go to movies anymore.

I save money on food, cuz I don't eat anymore.

I save money on gas, cuz I never leave my computer room.

I don't need a cell phone, cuz i shared this money saving advice with my friends so we just talk in-game now.

Theres more, but I gotta join a battle right now....

You and my son. When he is really involved he can't even answer a call from his mama. Gonna steal the power cord to his computer one of these days, just to get a bit of a conversation with him.

We just moved back to the states from the Caribbean. That saved me a WAD of money on groceries right there. And I just discovered Aldi's! It is so cheap... specially to someone used to paying $6.50 US for milk and $2.75 for a loaf of bread.

I am trying to get into using coupons. I have friends who save a lot of money that way. In Cayman we kept our AC at 80 in the day time and 76 at night. Where we stay now our power is free, so hubby has turned our apartment into a fridge capable of hanging raw meat. :) I may use all my savings from groceries on buying sweaters to wear at home.

Using only public transport (no car),using only pre-paid mobile phone, using pre-paid gas and electric, spending up $7/day on food for 3 adults.Buying groceries everyday and not for the whole week.Only discount supermarkets and special offers but not from same ones.

Saving so much to even go holidays.

Thank you God and Jesus.

I used to do this many years ago when I was married. ( one of the only things that worked :taped: )

We made a menu for each day of the week. You wouldn't believe the money you save on food by doing this. Instead of buying what you might need, you buy only what you will need. It takes planning and practice, but it does work.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
