I don't get it. I'm pretty sure I know if I jump out a window I'm gonna hit the ground. I don't think anybody takes gravity on faith. It may take faith to believe gravity will still be here tomorrow and the day after, but as of right now I "know" it's here.

I was just pointing out that the statement "the earth hangs on nothing" is really not scientifically accurate. Gravity is very much a 'something'.

Of course that statement isn't 'scientifically accurate'. The Bible isn't a science book.

Name me something you take on faith that science proves.

Consider this, Job 26:7, the oldest book in the bible, Job ststed that the earth hangs on nothing. Science has proven that that nothing that Job was talking about we know now as gravity. Job knew this brfore electricity was discovered. Jobs faith and science proved him true in his statement! :noidea:

Actually 'gravity' is something. If you don't believe me, take an elevator to the top floor of a very tall building and jump out a window. If you refer to something as "nothing" because it's invisible then that has extremely harmful theological implications.

you misunderstood my point. We know now what gravity is through science. Job had no idea what gravity was and yet he knew that the planet hung on what appeared to be nothing. :noidea: Unless you are just telling me to jump off a building because you hate the fact that science helps reasures what i believe from the Bible :noidea:

By faith, we believe that God is the creator of all that is created and that man will never find the creations smallest element. In proving this, scientist continue to make more powerful means to see something smaller then what they had already discovered, proving that we continue to discover His hand in the unseen.

By faith, we believe that God created the universe so vast and magnificent that man will never understand it in its fullest. Science continues to prove this as they create better means to explore places further away then previously seen.

Faith and science do have a lot in common, yet people continue to divide it with their terminology and ideals.

No I didn't mean anything serious by the "jump off a building" statement, I was just making a point.

onelight - I couldn't agree more! I love science and I love God, obviously one more than the other;)

science is so fascinating and it shows the uniqueness of God. His diversity and His perfect order. everything is balanced. we cannot go any smaller than the human cell to take one bit of it away and it would not function. yet the human cell is so complex and so intricate it could only be created by a great designer.

I continue to be mystified by this debate. Maybe this is because I grew up in a secular environment but I have never felt any conflict in science and faith.

The human body is a perfect place to see the mysteries of Gods hand in creation. To see a cell, it has to be magnified x10,000, to see the cromosome inside a cell, it has to be magnified x100,000 times. To get the first look at DNA, it has to be magnified x500,000 times. To see how the DNA is held together, it has to be magnified x5,000,000 times. Science will strive to look even closer to see inside the makeup of the DNA, into its bases and more. Here is a link that is very interesting, visually seeing from a cell to a DNA strand. How small is DNA?

To better understand how much information the DNA holds, I suggest this very quick and enlightening article. Is God Real? Why the DNA structure points to God... This article puts into plain English, even I can read it, and compares the programming of the DNA to that of a computer. A short piece as a teaser ...

To grasp the amount of DNA information in one cell, "a live reading of that code at a rate of three letters per second would take thirty-one years, even if reading continued day and night."3 Wait, there's more.

Thank you Yeddy, for replying to my post. It's nice to be part of the conversation.

I think a lot of misunderstanding about the compatibility of faith and science comes because some on the faith side don't understand the science and some on the science side don't understand faith.

I have to disagree with you when you say that it takes faith to beleive in a theory. Theories are built up over time through observation, hypothesis, experimentation and rejection or non-rejection of hypothesis. The theories that exsist today have withstood repeated experimentation and have changed as new discoveries have been made.

I don't believe in evolution on faith. I believe in evolution because the scientific evidence, so far, has support it and hasn't disproven it. My choice to follow Jesus, on the other hand, has everything to do with faith.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
