Do Animals Have Souls?

It would appear from Ecclesiastes 3:21 that the spirit of an animal at death goes into the earth and is not bound for heaven as man's may be "Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?".

Also scripture seems to imply that beasts (animals) are not tripartite beings as man is but rather possess only a body and spirit. It was Adam (Man) that became a "living soul".

Again, it's asking a question, not making a statement. It's asking, "Who knows?.." if one goes one way and the other another.

If an animal does not have a soul, how could it's life-blood be accepted as an atonement for souls?

I'm not sure what is meant by that. The Bible says it's impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. (Hebrews 10:4)

It was accepted as a temporary sacrifice for sins, though - to make atonement for the souls of the people on behalf of whom the bulls and goats were offered - the priest would place his hands on the head of the animal to be sacrificed symbolizing that the people's sins were being transferred to the the animal. But this was temporary and had to be repeated year after year, because the blood of bulls and goats could not suffice for eternity, since the people sinned again and again.

If the blood of the animals was not accepted to make atonement for the souls of the people, then God would not have commanded that it be done.

have you ever seen the video of a lion named christian reuniting with the guys that raised him and then let him loose? search it on youtube... it will bring tears to your eyes! if you ever get the chance to see the entire show about the lion on animal planet, don't miss it!

What do you guys think?

there was only one time that I know of that an animal had a soul, then it gave it up after it only had it or three days......

I do believe there are other creatures that we will be seeing, maybe not like we are use to, but I believe we will see other types of animals....

Blessings, wyguy

My vet is a Christian and she has a beautiful painting portraying a depiction of heaven with with our beloved pets who have gone beyond in one of the exam rooms that shows two hands reaching out to the animals running up to the hands. There are those who say that because animals do not have a soul, or the Bible doesn't really address this, our pets won't be in heaven. I have heard this over and over again. But animals cannot choose between good and evil like we humans can, were not born in sin as we are, and they have never fallen like us, so they are not in need of a redeemer or saviour as we humans are. They have never became like gods.

I can't imagine being in heaven without my Miss Luci and Sammie, Buster and Daisy, who have taught me so much about God's unconditional love, patience, compassion, companionship, mercy, faithfulness and understanding better than most humans ever could.

Yes, I think my Miss Luci and Sammie, Buster and Daisy will be in heaven because I think what it boils down to is our understanding of God and His love for His creation.

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
