seeker, quit making excuses and dancing around and quit passing judgment. i'm not blocking the word of the Lord. just answer the question. and if i may, let me direct you to find your answer in the word of God. your refusal to give a true or false answer is not doing you any favors.

and jcisgod, in answer to your most recent question, had even the torah been written prior to abraham? i'm seriously asking because i'm not sure.

frankly, it can't be answered based solely on scripture because abraham had direct communication with God. recall that God called to abraham in the wilderness. abraham had no clue who God was prior to that, and yet God came to him out there in the desert or wherever it was, and basically had a one-on-one sit-down kinda chat with him. abraham had no clue what the torah was, if it even existed at the time. because of abraham's personal experience with God Himself, he had the kind of innate trust to do exactly as God led without anything else. he knew God's character firsthand.

furthermore, the torah was the books of law. the rest of the written word of God had not yet been written.

we today do not know God the way abraham did. at least very few people know Him that way.

God spoke to Abraham. God speaks to us too if we listen.

of course He does.

now answer the question.

if what we hear when God speaks to us is not in 100% agreement with the written word of God, then it's not really God's voice. true or false?

no amount of dodging is going to change the truth, seeker.

Your question makes no sence as what the bible says can be a million things to a million people. There is One who can read the bible. This One is in agreement with what He wrote. Love Him and through His Spirit is the correct way to read the bible.

my question makes perfect sense. so shall i accept your non-answer as a "false"?

perhaps you should start studying the word of God a little deeper.

Ok how do we know its God when we are prompted to speak or witness to another person or pray for healing, or maybe as Elisha was told to lie on top of the dead boy and place his face on the boys face and his lips on the boys lips? These things are not spoken against but neither are they specific commands for who what when. I mean in todays world it would seem awful wrong for a man to lie on a dead body and esp a boy, and the bible says to avoid every appearance of evil.

we will know it's of God if it is not contrary to God's word. and the only way to know that "on the fly" like that is through daily, prayerful STUDY of God's word.

in today's world, it would indeed look strange to see a man lying on the dead body of a boy. and if he claims he's doing it because God told him to, that boy had sure better get up and walk afterward.

oh wow. it just sunk in what you said, seeker.

there's only ONE who can read the bible.

you mean you can't read the bible? i wonder then why the bible is printed in every language and is the highest selling book of any other book ever written, if nobody can read it?

did you know, seeker, that the bible says to STUDY it to show thyself approved?

Getting back to OP, was not George Fox`s life astounding. Imprisoned, beaten, left for dead, raised up by Gods power, misunderstood, misaligned, persecuted, railed againts and reviviled, miracles and healings following his preaching.

All the things Jesus said would happen to those who believe and follow Him. Maybe George Fox did have some errors or failings, i havnt seen any yet but even if he did, i would rather emulate him or Finney or Wesley, as they emulated Jesus, than anyone ive ever met in 20 yrs of being in christian fellowships around the world.

Seeker,

You have the same problem with the question that I had.

I think LadyC is meaning that the Word is inspired by God, is truth, despite the differing opinions on the meanings of scripture the core truth doesn't change.

In other words, each of us could be wrong on the interpretation and can only know the truth to the ability given to us by God.

And, also that the Holy Spirit speaking to us would not contradict the bible, but would instead explain and expound upon it.

That's the gist of the question as I've come to see it.

Things are getting into nonsence now. You know what I mean by reading, it is reading with proper understanding. It is getting late. Good night everyone!!

God Bless!

seeker, it's not nonsense.

the understanding that we are given by the Holy Spirit had BETTER line up perfectly with the word of God, or the voice you are hearing is just the voices in your head, not the voice of the Lord.

I agree LadyC, there is only ONE who can read it "properly"... The Holy Spirit who wrote it who then explains it to us.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
