Perhaps the Satan we've been trained to fear all our lives is a misrepresentation designed to keep people contrite?

Perhaps the only devil in anyone's lives is the one in the mirror.

Care to explain? Dropping bombs like that with no explanation makes your comments worthless ...

What the binding of Satan means is that after the coming of the long-expected Messiah, Satan lost certain authority which he possessed prior to the life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of the Savior. It does not mean all satanic operations cease.

When Jesus drove out the demons, he actually proclaimed his authority over Satan and the arrival of his kingdom. He said, "How can one enter a strong man's house unless he first binds the strong man?"

Although Satan is bound during the present age, this does not mean that he ceases to be the "god of this age" who blinds "the minds of unbelievers" (2 Cor 4:4), "the ruler of the kingdom of the air' (Eph 2:2), and the one who "prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). Satan continues to do all these things.

It is kind of Ironic that we have the same differences that the Jews did when Christ was before them. Some Jews expected the spiritual Messiah and others expected Christ to seat himself in the Temple and take political control on earth. Today we have Christians expecting the Savior to return on the Last day and take his followers to his heavenly kingdom, while others expect a political rule for a thousand years.

What is that saying about history, "Those who ignore it are bound to repeat it."

Satan was defeated at the cross, not bound at the cross:

"And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent called Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a great voice saying in Heaven, Now has come the salvation and power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony. And they did not love their soul until death...

... And the dragon was enraged over the woman, and went to make war with the rest of her seed, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. " Rev 12:9-11, 17).

He can't make war against the saints if he's bound. He was defeated at the cross, but he is not yet bound - and the only One powerful enough to bind him is the One who also defeated him at the cross:

"And I saw an angel come down from Heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. And he cast him into the abyss and shut him up and set a seal on him, that he should deceive the nations no more until the thousand years should be fulfilled. And after that he must be loosed a little time." (Rev 20:1-3).

In the wisdom of God, he has permitted His defeated foe to continue his activity in teh world until he is bound, then at the close of the millennium God will loose him again once last time for just a short time.

We assume that because Jesus is the One with all authority in heaven and in the earth, He has bound Satan. But He hasn't - not yet, anyway.

Does that mean that those who ignore history are tied up? :whistling:

Mark 3, 23

Summoning them, he began to speak in parables, "How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand; that is the end of him. But no one can enter a strong man's house to plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house."

So why do people expect Satan to be bound up in the future, for a thousand years. Christ said Satan is tied up. I give more relevance to the words of Christ than the teachings of John Nelson Darby.

The term 'abyss,' that Satan is bound to, is used as a metaphor for the nations of the world that have risen out of the sea. Satan has been bound to this abyss that we call earth.

After the seventy-two returned from plundering Satan's kingdom. What did Jesus say?

"I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky."--Luke 10, 17

Satan is no longer allowed to visit the celestial throne.

You have to look at the context of what was taking place to get the meaning of Jesus' words. Christ had been casting out devils, and the religious crowd that had denied him were saying he was casting out devils through the power of the devil. All Jesus was saying is that it would make no sense for Satan to cast out Satan. If he did so, that would mean he was fighting against himself, and if he were to do that, his kingdom could not stand. A Kingdom divided against itself will fall. There are a couple of ways one can view verse 27. On the one hand, when a demonic spirit possesses someone, they have somehow gotten the victory over their host and bound that man or woman up. They have taken over. Then, in order to set that man or woman free, one stronger than the devils must bind the devil and cast them out. The one who is stronger is Jesus Christ, and through delegated authority, we are able to cast out devils in his name. When the devils are cast out, they go back into the air space looking for a new host.

As for the Satan being bound for 1000 years, turn to Revelation 20:1-3

1 AND I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Satan will indeed be bound for a thousand years after the battle of Armaggedon takes place.

I do have to question any one who would ask such a question, "Is Jesus a liar?" All things will be done in the order of God from right at this moment until we behold all the splender of the new heaven and the new earth. For we can't even comprehend nor are we able to hear what all will be there but all will be fulfilled as there are things that have happened and come to pass in my generation and though I didn't see all fulfilled in my generation thus far it will all happen in the order of God.

1 Corinthians 15:21-28.................in these verses notice key words that gives us understanding.

vs. 23----"every man in his own order"-----"afterwards"

vs. 24------"Then"-----"when"-----"when"

vs. 25-----"till"

vs. 26----"that"-----"shall"

vs 28-----"when"-----"then"

The Lord's time and in his order the things of God will come to pass.

Some studying can do a soul good and say, "It is well with my soul"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
