The only concern I would have in changing jobs is stability. If you are able to get a better paying job or one you simply like better, go for it. You aren't doing anyone else any good staying put because others don't have the choices you have. If your concern was over jumping ship and worrying that the job won't be as secure in this economy, I could understand that, but I can't understand you not leaving because others can't find a job. That is like not changing your diet because in some part of the world, people don't have anything to eat. You are not doing them any good punishing yourself.

I think it's just reluctance to ask the Lord for His help in finding the job I want when I know He has blessed me with the one I have. Your analogy about diet is very thought provoking, Butero. :)

Staying in a job you are unhappy with or have " outgrown " is silly... It is not taking a job from someone else it is looking for a job that will siut you better :emot-hug:

MG, you may think it's unusual that someone would be looking for the kind of position you'd be leaving, but that position WOULD get filled... probably by someone who is qualified for it, and if they're not qualified, they'd get qualified real quick if they were thrown in and had to learn it. so unless the position you currently hold would be eliminated after you left, then it WOULD be helping someone else out there who is looking for a job.

MG,

There is a lot to contemplate about seeking another position. Eleven years ago I gave up a very lucrative executive job with many perks, but I was subject to the whims of a 7 member board of directors which changed each year. Some years would be awash with bonuses and raises for a well-managed department. Other years were not as good. The travel was exhausting to me and I didn't like that aspect at all. I traded this 'career' for a 'job' that had no travel, less money, better health insurance, paid continuing education and without the stress I had in the old job. I like to write manuals, reports and track statistics.... I work for state and local government and I've been so much happier. There have been some cut-backs and responsibility issues in the last couple of years - but I weigh them against the advantages of living close and doing what I enjoy... that's helped me get through the tough times. Being able to provide a service that is important to so many is something I take pride in and I like the daily challenges.

Happiness has to be a component in your work. Other things like stability, benefits and compensation is important - but having a "terrific" income and corporate perks while working with people who may not give you the respect you deserve or working on projects you don't like or enjoy - is draining.

I pray that God will guide and direct you as you seek answers.

God Bless you!!!

Good insight, sister. I just think I'm ready to move on from the oil and gas industry. What's strange to me now is how hard I worked to get my current position, two years of effort went into it, and the hard fought battle with my boss last year which drove me bonkers but eventually was worked out (I got my own office) and now, within the past two months I've decided I need to go in a different direction. I'm not a job hopper but I know when I need a change. And, like I said in the OP, if I'm gone it will open up the opportunity for someone else. Why don't I feel good about this? I have an interview with another company coming up, btw.

Will your not looking for another job help or benefit someone else?

No, I can't say that it would. Unless there is someone out there in my field that hasn't been able to find employment. That would be pretty unusual.

So, what benefit is gained by your not asking for or looking for another job?

I was thinking along the lines of Butero with his food analogy.

As far as feeling guilty asking the Lord for help - do you refrain asking the Lord to help you find something you lost because there are people with greater losses?

Do you not know He delights blessing His children? If He has not granted their requests yet, that's between Him and them (He has reasons we may not understand, but we have to trust He has a purpose in all things).

He loves it when we come to Him.

Perhaps try this - asking Him if you should be seeking out this other job, either through a word or an open door or some sign, and perhaps some sign to indicate He desires you to be where you are at.

How's that?

Send out the resumes and see where it leads. If you get a fantastic offer - do you suppose that God would not have provided it for you, His child? Do suppose that He is not putting this desire in you? What if there is another child of His praying for a good job to support his family? What if you both gain?

If you do not get a good offer, then you will know that God wants you there for His purpose and His alone.

Besides, Barak says that Netanyahu would divide Jerusalem. We may be going home sooner than we think. These are all options that you must think through and pray about.

No, I didn't mean it would be unusual for someone to be looking for a position like my current one but, rather, that it would be unusual for someone out there to be unable to find a job in my field. My job wouldn't be eliminated if I leave.

I suppose you have a good point; all things happen according to His plan, I think I have a lot more praying to do about this. It's amazing how God is in every area of my life now; it was not always this way but I can't imagine going forward without Him. :)

MG,

Well, there are several reasons I can give you, but heres one...

Whenever God gives the go ahead, theres always a peace that comes and overflow unto everything. You move into a confidence mold that set forth all other things into motion to happen. Therefore no questions are left unanswered that will attempt to steer you backward..its golden purpose is to move you forward into what God has orchestrated (arranged, controlled every element and achieved) in bringing about victory into every area of your purpose driven life.

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow me.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
