Another question I keep asking myself is whether or not it made a difference because he was who he is.

If it were possible for another person to get to that age and not have sinned, would it be the same?

No. Jesus was fully man and fully God. Just any person wouldn't do because no person is sinless. God, in effect, sacrificed Himself for those He loves. What greater sacrifice could there be? :wub:

Yeah, but I can what if. If another person could have managed not sining, would that have worked just as well, or would it really have had to be Jesus.

We'd have to agree on what "God" means for me to totally agree with the blue part

I know about 'what iffing' because I do it myself all the time. But the meaning of 'God' is never up for interpretation, IMO. When I say 'God' I mean He who was, who is and who is yet to come. Jesus and God are one and the same so God sacrificed Himself to keep us. Pretty amazing in my book. :cool:

Well I can't go down this path without destroying this thread, so I won't.

Probably a wise decision.

I don't know if I'm reading you Neb, but I know that I've pondered the idea of how/why at times. When I think of the verse that says the life is in the blood -

Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for the soul.

I wonder if life is in our blood - and we're full of sin, then how much more is Life in the blood of God? It boggles my mind. I think that's exactly what makes it spiritually significant. Our blood supplies nutrients to all parts of our body, giving each organ life - His blood provided life for all individuals.

It's mind boggling. :blink:

Penalty must equal seriousness of the crime to satisfy justice.

Payment to avoid penalty must equal seriousness of crime.

Only Gods Son is enough to pay the penalty demanded by justice in the sight of God, man, and the angels, and still ensure the government of God go unchallenged.

All sin is against God, and a finite sinless man could not atone for sin against infinate God.

Yep it had to be Jesus.

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
