The Jewish people of old have had the belief that they have guardian angels. The only place that it mentions that the angels will come to the believers assistance is in Psalm 91 which is why I suggested reading it but no other place other than the little children have angels that are in the Fathers presence are angels mentioned.

Psalm 91

11 For he will command his angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways;

12 they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;

you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 "Because he[b] loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;

I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.

My error the Jewish people do not believe in gurardian angels.

Do we believe in guardian angels?

By Chaya Sarah Silberbergspacer.gifQuestion:

Do Jews believe that each person has a guardian angel watching over him or her?

Answer:

Jews certainly believe in angels – spiritual entities who exist to perform the will of G‑d (the Hebrew word for angel, "malach," also means "messenger") – the Scriptures contain many references to such supernal beings. But the popular idea of private and personal guardian angels is not part of Jewish theology.

Instead, we believe in a personal G‑d who constantly watches over each and every one of us, and over all of creation. On occasion He may send an angel to help or save us, but the angel is merely His emissary.

However, our sages tell us that each mitzvah that we do creates an angel that serves as a shield and protection for us. After our passing, these angels testify on our behalf before the Heavenly Courts.

So in that sense, we create our own guardian angels.

I hope this has been helpful.

Chaya Sarah Silberberg,

I think that the belief in guardian angels has lead to angel worship and that is not what the angels want of us they serve God and worship Him and want all worship to Him and Him alone.

Hi :)

I'n just talking with my daughter about guardian angels and as far as I know God gives every Christian their own guardian angel?

Thanks for your reply!

There is no teaching in Scripture that we each have guardian angels. There are instances where God has dispatched angels to help or protect people, but that is not the same as believing that we each have a guardian angel.

I believe that is a secular fairy tale meant to draw us away from trusting in the Lord. He is our guide, our shepherd. He is the one who watches over us and He is with us and dwelling within us. Why would we need an angel to guard us when we are hooked up with the Creator of the universe, the one who made us?

The notion of Guardian angels causes people to spiritually insecure and to attempt draw from an angel, the security and assurance that only comes from Christ. There are books that tell of people encounterng angels and having been transformed by those encounters. My contetion is that they did not encounter any angels from God. Angels are messengers sent from God. They are not emotionally involved in the lives of people.

I know that angels are messengers of God and that they protect believers , do they protect unbelievers? We don't know Gods plan for unbelievers so I quess they might have protection too when God wants them to have protection.

I was always under the impression that angels are aroung you but we don't notice it and I agree angels are not to be worshipped.

Thank you, I do put my trust in the Lord and didn't really think alot of angels that's why this question came up, but its sure nice they are around :) If I'm right they are here to protect us , don't they also fight in spirituel warfare to fight demons if they try to get to us? (remember Lot?

I dont know if the one I have is the same person.. but I've seen him/her on several different occasions where I had high stress. So yes I believe I have a personal one.. but who knows if they have different shifts and there are several.. :)

Do you mind sharing when you seen these angels? My grandmother seen an angel ones in her bedroom :)

One time I was really stressed out at work and was waiting in my managers office because he stepped out for a minute. I was praying really intensly for God to help me and immediately I saw an angel standing beside me. I was filled with peace and calm then because I took that as God had heard my prayer and he was answering it. Just then my manager walked back in but before he saw the angel it disappeared.

Another time I saw one in my room after a major break up with an old girlfriend. I was praying for God to save her and to forgive her for what she did again same thing, intense prayer very sharp focus on my message then an angel appeared in front of me. And again I believed my message was heard and I was really happy! That time though I was in my room with the lights off and when the angel came it came from behind me to appear in front of me. It made me jump because the light was so bright I thought that a car was behind me! (My room was on the second floor)... it looked like a man full of light and very bright.

Another time, I came home from church when I told the minister that I wanted to be baptized. As I opened the door and walked it, I saw an angel looking at me through the corner as if to greet me, he was smiling at me with beautiful pearly whites. And then left.

What would be the purpose of a guardian angel ? If their purpose is to guard us from evil, where does that leave the Holy Spirit, and God for that matter?

The belief in guardian angels, as some have mentioned, opens the door to angel worship. If one believes that certain things happen or don't happen because of their angel, then God is all but taken out of the picture. All attention is placed on the angel because the angel is your personal guardian. It is the angel that protects you from evil and harm.

It would be easy for Satan to use this belief to his advantage. I don't believe he can force anyone to do anything, but if there is someone who has a strong belief in guardian angels, I think he would be able to manipulate them alot easier than someone who doesn't believe.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
