I think God can most definitely use a bartender. A lot of times people drinking at a bar need someone to listen to them and talk with them. I wouldn't advocate it for everyone but God can use people in that occupation for His purposes if He so chooses, whether WE think He should or would. Look at the people Jesus associated with and the places He went during His ministry that were considered "low life" by the "holier than thous" of His day.

WIP :t2:

I just can't imagine Jesus pouring a shot for some drunk and trying to tell him he needs to repent.

Mt 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

-Nicotine, in tobacco, IS an mood altering drug.

It is a stimulant that arouses the brain /body chemistry.

Nicotine has a very quick arousal rate, stimulates the body ( respiratory system, and certain part of the brain, etc)

I'm sure you can't.

I can imagine Jesus taking a different approach of sorts but He'd know how to get thru to someone; probably while he poured a glass of wine.

Jude 4

For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord

WIP, i'm glad my post was entertaining to you... you rock! thanks for being a wonderful person!

now, i'm gonna say something here. and i really don't care much what anyone thinks of me for it. after coming home this evening and finding my eating habits thread had been pulled because it was getting too many complaints, and being accused of starting it out of mean spiritedness, i was half an inch from leaving worthyboards for a vacation. and after i finish what i have to say, i may be ASKED to leave for an extended one.

the smokers of this board have endured 14 pages of mean-spirited, accusatory, hateful comments without once going and whining to the moderators about how our feelings have been hurt. all you who point your jagged fingernails at us like to say how it's "all in love"... well phooey on you all, it didn't come across as very loving.

in fact, it came across as the most self-righteous holier than thou hypocrisy i've seen in a long time, and to be honest, that's not saying much cuz i've seen it going on a lot in these forums in the last week.

i'm extremely offended. and i'm feeling quite blunt about it. in the eating thread i responded to something lcpguy had said by telling him i felt that he, and i, and all the other smokers here deserved an apology from an awful lot of folks.

charlie OFFERED his apology for having said something offensive. his apology was REJECTED...

i'm still waiting for the apologies to be made to us smokers here. YOUR WORDS HURT TOO.

so folks who are participating in this thread, let's see your true colours, shall we? i would like one of two things from the folks who have so harshly criticized us. either offer us a sincere apology, or tell us we aren't worthy of an apology.

just so everyone is clear on this, i'm referring to comments that imply directly or indirectly that smokers can not be effective witnesses, can not be used fully by God, can not glorify God, are weak in our relationship with God, don't listen to God, don't obey God, ignore the convictions of God, etc.

while i'm at it, i'd really like an apology from those who got so bent out of shape that they had to have the eating thread shut down, particularly the ones who accused me of being hateful and mean spirited in starting it, those who said they were disgusted that i'd started it, and those who belittled smokers as if our feelings aren't every bit as important as theirs.

mods, i'd greatly appreciate it if you would give people the opportunity to either say "i'm sorry" or "shove it" before you lock or delete this thread. it's your call, of course, but i'd really appreciate if some of the people here had the chance to publically apologize.

and if nobody does, you'll see me in a week or two after i've had a chance to get over it.

Lady, if things were deleted because of complaints and whining and there was no other reason other than that and arguing, I'll consider leaving with you. THAT post was deleted, but this and others just like it aren't? I just don't get all this constant locking and deleting and whining to the monitors. Your topic was a good one, btw, don't be made to feel like you shouldn't have posted it. It sounds to me like people wanted to beat up on smokers, but didn't want to look at their own habits that are "defiling their bodies".

This is NOT directed towards anyone in particular, I have no idea who does or is doing all of this censoring.

how do you know that you dont get cancer from pot????

it is a drug, and not a very good one....

nicotine metabolizes out of the body with in the week..... pot settles into the fat of the body and takes a month or so to be clear of the body....

people can be very mean spirited towards smokers.... even more so then they are towards thieves..... or even users of other drugs..... they are more apt to support a guy that drinks then smokes.....

not too many people understand the battle a smoker has to go thru.... people use to complain that smokers got smoke breaks.... this was untrue where ever I was, the smokers did not get anymore breaks then the non-smokers....

the last place i punched a time clock, the smokers had to go out side to smoke... and would be gone from their work station only a short while.... the non-smokers would go to the break room, and start eating junk food and drinking soda and when the 10 min break was over, the non- smoker was not back on station....

now if we wanna get dirty about this..... skoal is more nasty..... it smells, it stinks, it never ends up where the user trys to spit it.... and at work you dont dare leave a soda can that you are currently drinking out of sitting around, for some one will use it for a spitoon..... or they will try to hit the trash with it, or they will have paper cups sitting around full of spit that tend to get tipped over, and no, they are not the ones that end up having to clean it up.......

when i was in the service, those that smoked, cleaned the smoking area.... those that did not smoke did not have to clean it, they didnt mess it up...

if some one chews, they should be the one responsible for cleaning up after them selves....

chew is just down right nasty...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
