The Message is not a translation, but one mans twisted understanding of the Bible with new age and gnosticism thrown in to make it a dangerous lie. Read this The Message.

I never read the Message book, so I can't make judgement on it.

Nothing personal against you 'Onelight' but I did click on the Message and I seen a bunch of hogwash, all it was is somebody bashing Masons and having no clue on what they were talking about.

There are plenty of other sites that highlight the errors in the Message. Or you can use biblegateway.com and look at them for yourself, try comparing the last say 8 verses of Ro 1 with NASB.

There are over 100 mistakes in the KJV. The message bible isn't meant to be a study bible. It's meant to simply "get the message of the gospel across."

The more Christian's gripe and complain about certain versions of the bible, the more unbelievers are likely to avoid Christianity like the plague!

I can't blame them! Christian's are obsessed with demonizing themselves!

Why don't you have a look at the verse I highlighted and comment on what the Message says compared to what the text should say?

Translations are called translations for a reason. I think what we tend to forget is that scripture did not originally come to us in English (whether Shakespearean or more modern). Therefore, even the best translations may get something wrong, considering that we might not fully understand the full implication of what something might mean in its original Hebrew or Greek. That isn't to say that there aren't good translations, but to say that one is completely accurate is I think a bit of a stretch. And, by accurate, I mean completely a one-to-one correlation between the languages, not inaccurate as in intent, as I think concepts and principles are more easily translated across time and place.

But, as far as sites which point out inaccuracies in one particular Bible or another, I think they promote one person's own views more than objective truth. Of course that's just my opinion.

Then compare:

Romans 15:13 (NJKV) "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

Romans 15:13 (MSG) "Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! "

Question: What is meant by "God of green hope"?

Matthew 5:14 (NKJV) “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."

Matthew 5:14 (MSG) "Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill."

Question: What is meant by "God-colors"?

By the way, my daughter is a Wiccan and they use this term.

Psalm 97:11 (NKJV) "Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart."

Psalm 97:11 (MSG) "Light-seeds are planted in the souls of God's people, Joy-seeds are planted in good heart-soil."

Compare to the From gnostic writings:

The Gnostic Apostle Thomas: Chapter 11

Mani and the Pure Ones

Re Seeds of light > "...One of the Emissaries or Messengers sent by the Father to rescue the captive particles sets up a mechanism, a sort of conveyer belt, by which seeds of light are drawn up into the heavens and concentrated. They move up the Milky Way to the moon, and when that way-station becomes stuffed full (as anyone can see, it happens every four weeks), the accumulated store of light is then transferred to the sun, and the process begins anew."

The Gnostic Apostle Thomas: Chapter 4

Beyond the Law

"Establish in your Bridal chamber the seed of light. receive from me the bridegroom, and grasp him and be grasped by him. Behold the grace descends on you. ..."

Meditations: For Services of the Holy Sophia in the Month of March

... Let your power impart the true Gnosis to us and strengthen us in your wisdom and compassion so that we may lovingly gather the seeds of light from the sea of ..."

Psalm 27:1 (NKJV) "The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?"

Psalm 27:1 (MSG) "Light, space, zest— that's God! So, with him on my side I'm fearless, afraid of no one and nothing."

Question: Where is the mention of salvation in the Message? What is meant by "space, zest"?

This is just the start. And, since when is the Masonic teachings that of Christ?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
