I think you can still dress fashionable and still be modest. I consider myself to dress quite modestly, but I like keeping up with fashion. I like looking nice, and attractive. I wear clothes that fit my body, and make my body look the best. My husband enjoys seeing me this way as well. I dress for him, and I don't think the way I dress attracts unneccessary attention from other men, because I'm still being modest. Not all the fashions are about short skirts, and tight jeans. I never where shorts skirts. In fact, many of the current fashions are incorporating longer skirts, and such. If you look, you can find modest, fashionable clothing.

I have seen alot of girls with it all hanging out. Especially really young girls, who obviously dont' realize what kind of effect they are having on guys. But most often, these girls are not Christian girls. Maybe they have even grown up in Christian homes, with Christian families, and so we think they should know better, but it doesn't mean they do. Clothing is just another thing people can get strict about. I took my younger brother to church with me once, and people where like, oh, you can't come unless you dress better. My brother is more of a "punk dresser" he has an earring, etc. My brother is not a Christian, and my gosh, he doesn't come to church because of those very attitudes towards his clothing. I think people should dress modestly, but I think we as Christians should looks nice, and not let ourselves go, either. I think we should take care of our bodies, but again, not make it something that is more important than the important things.

Chief - I am greatly impressed by your wife.

OP - your post is really good. Did you write all of it? ITA with all of it.

Aggie - you mentioned the mid thigh shorts - have you seen the ones that actually cover only 2/3 of the, *ahem*, cheek? Holy Cow. We were at an amusement park last week and a teen was wearing those. What on earth are today's parents thinking??

It is very scary how today's teens dress. My hubby and I will be out and we often are commenting that "our children would never leave the house like that". Some of these skirts are so short that when they sit down they are not sitting on the fabric from the skirt because there isn't enough there. It's rediculous really.

You certainly can dress modestly and still be in fashion but who are we trying to please anyway? What does it matter if your in fashion or not? I care to some degree but it's very minimal. What others think of me is really inconsequential. Just my 2cents.

A couple of people, including myself have already said who they are trying to please.

I dress nice to please my husband, and I'm sure many Christian women do. We SHOULD look good, and be attractive to our husbands.

I know how we look isn't that important, but as long as we aren't putting it above our relationship with God, ministry, etc, what is wrong with looking nice?

I think that a lot of young people dress in skimpy fashions because they feel that they have to in order to attract guys' attention. Which is partly true, because young guys often follow their hormones more than their brains. Personally, I dress in a way that makes me feel good about myself, confident about the way I look. I think many girls feel more confident about how they appear to others if they think they look "sexy." When it comes down to it, I think if you left girls in a world without boys we'd all be wearing boxers, athletic shorts, t-shirts and sweats in no time (my high-school is all-girls, so I know this from experience!). And no makeup or leg-shaving lol.

Of course, I wear lots of black, but that has less to do with modesty and more to do with it being my favorite color.

I think basically this topic was referring to "sexy fashions", not necessarily apparel that is in style.

I stated that I dress to please my husband, but at the same time, I also dress to please myself. There is nothing wrong with that.

If you can wear the latest fashions and your choice of these fashions are modest, wearing them is not a sin.

If your conscience won't allow you to wear what's in style, then for you it is a sin.

My conscience allows me to wear the latest styles in a modest manner AND to please my husband and IF there is something that I've purchased to wear, that catches his eye and pleases him, there's nothing wrong with that either.

I'm certainly not going to dress in baggy clothes and polyester.

I think as wives, God wants us to please our husbands in the way we dress and whatever your husband is contended with and happy seeing you in, whether it's the latest styles or jumpsuits, do what pleases your husband.

As long as my husband doesn't have a problem with what I wear, I'm not in disobedience to him or God.

What I choose to wear when I go out in public, IS acceptable and presentable and tasteful, yet in style.

Before i was saved , i would wear clothing that was too short on the legs ,and low cut blouses.

After i was saved, i went through all of those clothes and threw them....

I didn't want to give that type of clothing away....maybe, to cause someone else

to sin.

The reason i didn't want to wear them anymore, was not to reveal my body to

men..... then it would have maybe caused them to sin....

I now dress in a decent manner......

GOD gave me back my self-respect........

THANK YOU ......LORD !

LOVE and PEACE to everyone,

When Adam and Eve fell God CLOTHED them and ever since the devil has been trying to get them undressed. My wife dresses great, modest and fashionable. I don't want anyone else to get any "ideas" about my wife other than godliness. When I met her she had just quit her job in the fashion industry in NYC. The reason she quit was over 50% of the fashion industry is controled by homosexual men, lesbians, and occultists. There are many good fashions out there.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
