I love Messianic Jews, but I have noticed that many groups that claim to be Messianic twist torah with grace, and also separate themselves from the rest of the body because Christians are not following torah. I have lost many friends who went down that road also, and it's really sad. I think it's a demonic spirit because I have seen the same manifestation in many believers. It starts with superior knowledge and pride in knowing the jewish roots and torah and then they start thinking other Christians are not of the body because they are not torah obervant, then further down that road, they end up rejecting Pauls letters, and their salvation becomes works based instead of grace, then further down that road rejecting the Messiah. These groups I believe cause the most separation between Messianic and Christians, on one side Christians are rejected because they are not torah observant, on the other side Christians see these groups and believe all messianics are like that and therefore, stay away. The Holy Days, and the sabbath are a blessing to observe, and really enriching to my faith, but they have no effect on my salvation. I am saved through Christ alone, and my righteousness is based on His righteousness instead of my own.

Hey Josh,

good to see you, bro!

Of those you've mentioned, how many are actually jewish?

I find that once a congregation starts going down the orthopractic road, they have to make a decision at some point who they are going to follow. The rabbis of Judaism are the only people making rulings on halacha, so if one is consulting them on questions of kashrut or liturgy or other related topics, then one will have to break company with them sooner or later....or deny Yeshua.

My rabbis are Kefa, Shaul, Ya'acov, Timothy, Luke, Yochanan. They made a break with the orthodox 2,000 years ago and it cost them their lives. I wouldn't want to betray them by obeying those who killed them.

Hey brother :)

Of those I've mentioned, not sure if any of them actually are Jewish, they just stumbled upon the Jewish roots, and hold those roots higher than Yeshua and His love. It's sad that they give such a strong false representation of Messianic.

I dig your Rabbis! :) amen!

I find that messianic congregations that are led by jewish people know the intent and purpose of the Law. Trying to understand the jewish scriptures apart from a jewish person teaching them is where most of those legalistic places start going wrong. There is a lot "hebrew roots" teaching going on that is just not what messianic judaism is about. They are almost always gentiles who self-proclaim themselves "hebrew scholars" and really nothing more than cults. On the other hand, when it is (mostly) jewish people in charge of leading a congregation, they already know the pain of being rejected by their families and the most important thing to them is the salvation of other jews, which is how and WHY the modern-day messianic movement began. They keep the main thing, the main thing; and everything else balances out.

Just gaining knowledge about the things hidden from christianity in the scriptures will only puff a person up if it isn't mixed with grace and love.

This may be true today, "The truth is that the most hated people on the face of the earth are the Messianic Jews! ", however, in time all of us who stand up for Jesus, will be taking their place on that most hated list.

Dennis.

Amen!

History doesn't bear that out.

It is a true statement that those who are victimized, usually become perpetrators themselves.

Unfortunately, it has happened many times in history

Messianic Jews have created a third religion out of Judaism and Christianity. Therefor, it is most reasonable that Jews and Christians fault Messianic Jews, but that doesn't mean that Messianic Jews are hated. Yet, when a Christian is listing cults, they'll say something like Mormonism long before Messianic Judaism.

Welcome Ariux.

You will find that blanket statements are usually a dead end. I, being a Christian, don't fault the Messianic Jews for anything. Neither do I see them as a cult.

:hmmm: A third religion?

What we call Christianity was originally a sect of Judaism. Everything about it was Jewish; nothing or hardly anything about Christianity today looks remotely Jewish - apart from some groups and churches trying to get back to the roots of our faith.

If that is your evidence to support your claim, it is a weak argument.

I sense more hostility and paranoia here than what's at a Louis Farrakhan rally (where you can also find people claiming to be the most hated people on Earth who also claim to be closer to the true religion than everyone else). Is this a Christian forum or forum for insecure Messianic Jews?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
