Hello OneLight,

Yes I agree, however, in Romans 7 Paul speaks of the battle with "sin that dwells in us" in our very flesh, our unredeemed bodies, and not the old man who was crucified with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Blessings Becca!

The quotes were getting a little long, so I just quoted this.

I disagree. Our sins have been forgiven and the yoke of bondage that once was there was removed, but we are still tempted by the very same sins and the very same natural man. I can tell you for a fact that the addictions I once had, even though I am set free, still tempt me. It is done by the remnant of the old man, memories, triggered by a sound, a smell or something else, but it is still there. Unless my memories are wiped away, they will remain. The addiction is no longer there (old man dying), but if I am not careful, I can find myself right back to where I was before.

When Christ died, He died for the forgiveness of our sins. Upon salvation, our past is removed from His site, as far as the East is from the West. to be remembered no more by Him. Yet, we still remember and are still tempted by the same ol' same ol' from time to time. The Holy Spirit then works in us convicting us of what is sin and through Him, we change by the renewing of our heart and mind. This is a process. It is not done instantaneously.

God Bless,

Alan

Well then I hope we can respectfully agree to disagree as far as the old man is concerned. I trust what our Father in Heaven has said in His Word about the matter, and His Word is all that counts. I don't think we disagree regarding temptation, yes we must always be careful, careful to Walk in the Spirit, it is a process.

I pray you come to realize though when God said Our old man was crucified with the Lord Jesus Christ that He did indeed mean it. When Christ died He not only died for the forgiveness of our sins, He set us free from the power of that sin. It is a very difficult thing to believe, to grasp, to sink in; but this is what our Father tells us to recon as a present fact. And as we walk in the Holy Spirit, the source of our strength, God always gives a way out of every temptation.

1 Corinthians 10

12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

God Bless you brother.

Becca

Thank you for your concern, but there is something that you may have forgotten. We need the Holy Spirit to maintain this ability. We, by ourselves, are not free from sin, but it is He who is in us that frees us when we allow Him to do so. There still is a choice that we need to make, and the temptation remains within that choice.

Your prayers had been answered way before you even found this site. I understand, and accept that my "old man" was crucified with Christ and my sins are forgiven. I do not believe that I am without sin though, and neither are you. Only Christ is sinless. We fall short of this by a long shot. To quote a friend, "It is a very difficult thing to believe, to grasp, to sink in; but this is what our Father tells us to recon as a present fact."

Romans 6:6

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Ephesians 4:17-24 (New King James Version)

The New Man

This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

If the old man died on the cross, one would not have to "put off" the old man. You see my friend, God does want us to continually allow Him to work in and through us to fulfill His will in our lives, but it is always a choice. We can, at any time if we so do choose, turn away and return to our life without Him. Why anyone would choose to do so is beyond me, but it is true.

Hebrews 6:4-6 (New King James Version)

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

The Bible is a living word and when we read it we protect ourselves from the evil forces around us. Not just reading it but knowing and believing it in our heart will dispell the negative forces that want to bring us down. Here is a prayer written by a man named Chet Leone.

I thank you Father, in the name of Jesus, for your armor. I thank you for the belt of truth(Eph 6:14), and I gird myself with your truth that.. Greater is he who is in me than who is in the world(1 Jn 4:4). And I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13), because the Lord is the strength of my life (Ps 27:1), and in Him who is the source of my strength, I have strength for everything(Phil 4:13) For he gives strength to the faint and for the weak he makes vigor abound. Though young men faint and grow weary, and youth stagger and fall, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with eagles wings. They shall run and not grow weary, walk and not faint (Isa 40: 29-31).God is my refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble. Therefore, I will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea(Ps 46:1-2); for God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind(2Tim 1:7). And in the name of Jesus I bind the spirit of fear:I loose myself from it, and cast it from me. And I ask you to loose upon me Lord, your spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore, I am anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication and with thanksgiving, I let my request be made known unto God; and the peace of God which passes all understanding guards my heart and mind through Christ Jesus(Phil 4:6-7)

For Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, O Lord; I say, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand (Ps 31:14-15). My family is in you hand. My work, my affairs,my finanaces, my business and my ministry are in your hand. For my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. And God is able to make all grace abound toward me , that I always, having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work(2 Cor:9-8). In the name of Jesus, I bind all lack of want from my finanaces. I loose my finances and cast all lack and want from them in Jesus name. My health is your hand; for by His stripes I am healed (Isa 53:5). Send forth your word and heal me and deliver me from my destructions (Ps 107:20).I ask you Fathe, in the name of Jesus to deliver me from (name of condition), and from all sickness, disease, injury and premature death.

I thank you Father, for the breastplate of righteousness(Eph 6:14). For God made Him who knew not sin, to be sin, that I mightbecome the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor 5:21). Satan has no place in me, no power over me... I am the righteousness of God, in Christ.

I thank you Father, for the footgear of the gospel of peace (Eph 6:15)... the "good news" that justified by fait, I have peace with God through Christ (Rom 5:1). I am a friend of God's (Jn 15:15). God is for me; and if God be for me, who can be against me? (Rom 8:31). Annoint me Lord, to stand in this "good news", to walk in it and to take it to others that they too may have peace with God through Christ.

Thank you Father , for the shield of faith, whereby I quench all the fiery darts of the evil one (Eph 6:16), because I trust the Lord with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding. In all way, I acknowledge Him, and He directs my path(Prov 3:5-6). For as I would come to God, I believe that he is, and is my rewarder as I dilligently seek him(Heb 11:6)

Thank you Father, for the helmet of salvation (Eph 6:17). I confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, and that I am saved. For with my heart I believe and am justified, and with my mouth I confess and am saved (Rom 10:9-10). And I thank you for so great a salvation(Heb 2:3) through which I have eternal life (Jn 3:15-16), and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever(Ps 23:6), And through this salvation I also have abundant life (Jn 10:10) which includes healing (Isa 53:5), health (3 Jn 2) and wholeness of body, soul and spirit (1 Thes 5:23). I thank you Father, for all that I have, all that I am and all that I hope to be, in and through the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom I live and move and have my being (Act 17:28) Praise His holy name.

Thank you Father, for the sword of the spirit, the word of God (Eph 6:17), and with that word I resist you Satan and command you to flee from me(Jas 4:7) as I confess what the word of God says the blood of Jesus Christ does for me.I overcome you by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of my testimony(Rev12:11), because through the blood of Jesus, I am deliveredout of the hand of the devil (Ps 107:2). Through the blood of Jesus , all my sins are forgiven (Eph 1:7). The blood of Jesus Christ, God's son continually cleanses me from all sin (1 Jn 1:7). Through the blood of Jesus, I am justified , made righteous, just as if I never sinned (Rom 5:9). Through the blood of Jesus, I am sanctified, made holy, set apart to God

(Heb 13:12). My Body is a templeof the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. For I am not my own, but am bought at a price. And I glorify God in my body and in my spirit, which are God's. Satan has no place in me, and no power over me through the blood of Jesus according to the word of God.

In the name of Jesus, I bindall evil principalities and powers, rulers in the world of darkness and evil spiritsin the regions above (Mat 18:18, Eph 6:12),on the earth, above the earth and below the earth (Phil 2:10). In the name of Jesus, Ibind you from my body, from my soul and from my spirit. In the name of Jesus, I bind you from my work, my affairs, my business and my ministries. In the name of Jesus, I bind you from my time, my finances,my family and all our possessions. In the name of Jesus, I bind you from (name all family members). In the name of Jesu, I bind you from their bodies , their souls and their spirits; and from all their affairs and activities.

Father I ask you, in the name of Jesus, to put a hedge of protection (Job 1:10), a shield of safty (Ps 3:3) and a wall of fire around me and ( name family members) (Zech 2:5) that Satan and his demons cannot penetrate from without but can only pass through as they are cast out from within. And I ask you Father, to send your mighty angels to minister unto and for us as heirs of salvation(Heb 1:14), in Jesus name Amen.

This is one of my favorite prayers and I just wanted to share it in this study since it was on the armour of God.

This prayer is powerful! My spirit was low this morning and I came here to seek this prayer. I have spoken it aloud --even in my workplace--and feel the oppressive spirit lifting, praise God! May you be blessed for sharing this word!

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

As HE said. " It is finished".

Putting on the whole armor of God.

We need to examine our hearts regularly to make sure we have no gap in our armor. No bitterness, unforgiveness, strife or hatred. If those things are present we need to ask the Lord to forgive us and cleans us from all sin. Now we are ready to prayerfully put on our armor and stand.

The world hates us.(Love covers a multitude of sin)

Satan wants to destroy us. (When our armor is on we are covered in Christ. We have been made more than conquorers, we've been made victorious through the blood of Jesus.)

I like to learn more about strongholds in our life and how to recognize them, I came to this website and thought it gives us alot to think of, some things we forget...but we can't forget that no matter how hard the enemy tries to take controle its the Lord who will have the last word!

The best stronghold in our life is knowledge. When we are well informed through an education, we usually know how to make wise decisions. Above all, we will know how to avoid sin, because of our knowledge of the Law. (Psalm 119)

Actually, it is better to recognize the voice and leading of the Lord. That's when your walk with the Lord really gets exciting!

Since scripture does not contradict itself, then it has to be our understanding of scripture that is wrong. Knowledge is not the answer, as we see below.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

eph 6 v 12 talks about the spiritual armor the bible says we should put on the whole armor of God lets look at this one after the other frist lets look at the helmet of salvation:the head house the sense of hearing, sight, taste, smelling now this is also recognise in the realm of the spirit,in the realm of the spirit if any of this senses is afected the person is liable to attack from the evil ones in the realm of the spirit the most important of this is the sight, hearing, when your sight in the spirit is blocked you will not see what the spirit is showing to you example from the bible is the story of balaam who did not see the angel of the Lord on the way ready to strike him,and again abraham who saw the whole world in the realm of the spirit as his possesion.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
