  1. The "old testament" It is such a strange label for what it is and is really quite inappropriate.
  2. The old testament and the old covenant are not synonymous.
  3. The change in sacrifices (from animals to Jesus) and the change in priesthood (from Aaronic to Melchizedek), has not "done away" with the entire old testament.
  4. The "change" in the covenant does not imply a change in God's nature. The God of the "old testament" is the same as the God in the "new testament", or, God hasn't changed merely because the fulfilment of sacrifices and the role of High Priest has.
  5. There is no difference in the value or applicability of scriptures between the old and new testaments.

For The Rest Of Your Life

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. Psalms 46:1-3

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

The first person to divide the Bible up into "Old Testament" and "New Testament" Scriptures was a man named Melito of Sardis way back in the 2nd Century. This is wirtten about by Eusebius. http://www.ccel.org/ccel/schaff/npnf201.iii.ix.xxvi.html

Scroll down to passage #14

Ufortunately, this has created the sense that the "Old Testament" Scriptures are not relevant for us. From the perspective of the NT writers, The Tanakh was simply "The Scriptures." The NT is written out of OT knowledge. The Berean Jews tested the teachings of Paul against "the Scriptures." There is no biblical division of the Scriptures into "Old" or "New" Testament divisions. Those divisions are post-biblical.

Yes, though I guess saying that the Bereans were testing new teachings against "scripture" is more correct than saying they were checking the "new" against the "old". They didn't consider the Tanakh to be old in the same way the OT is considered (by some) today. Not at all!

I find it very strange when people say that the Old Testament isn't relevant for today...to great a true understanding of the New Testament, you have to understand the Old Testament.

jesus came to be the law in our hearts , that is what jeremiah 31 says.

the law was never meant to make men perfect but to show men who believe in the YHWH what was expected of them and way of leading a better life from the nation of egypt from whence they were drawn.

My understanding is that The Word of God from Gen to Rev is the perfect Work of God... like in our beginning it explains creation, fall, patriarchs, God's election of choosing out a people (Israel), His explanation of Himself in Righteousness(Law), Prophetic explanation of who His Son would be and His obedience in flesh, 450 years of silence and then the means whereby we could be saved and have the mind that could be able to receive His Holy Word from beginning to end... He (Christ) brought the key to unlock our own inabilities to understand a Holy and Righteous God from which we so long ago walked away from called 'TRUTH'...

Keys N.T. Jn 18:37

A free gift for all who would receive -> The Person of His Son 'IS' The Salvation...

Our bodies are not redeemed but will fulfill His Word in the day you eat you will die...

The world and cosmos He Created are not in His eternal plans...

We are to be a peculiar people and live as aliens here for our home is being created...

God is to have full use of us in His perfect Will by our yielded spirit to His Within...

We were before we began in Him as an elect and planned people formed in His Thought...

We have been given the design of His Eternity Mapped, drawn and measured...

We are eternally secure-> for God has Placed His Person within, The Holy Spirit as a seal and Teacher of Christ's Truth...

There are divisions within His Word and must be adhered to in order to preserve The Word's entire purpose...

We are to deliver His Love 24/7 by walking In His Spirit in order not to fulfill the lust of our flesh...

We are simply to be like Christ - by action, by thought, by emotion, even in our death we can reflect His Life within...

Now we have been commissioned to take these into all the world

and explain How one can be born into this Great Hope and have

Joy even in suffering and Hope in this hopeless world of sin and shame... Love, Steven

I just said this to myself during my loss and before I read this, I said,"I want to read the Old Testament" it is so rich in wisdom, promises, warnings, and instructions; it is such a rich mine to me mined. Let me get my Pick Axe.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
