The word of God refers to Holy Spirit as 'He'---a person, with all attributes a person possesses, and not an impersonal force.

The Holy Spirit is a very deep subject. I encourage others to ask God to reveal the truth about the Holy Spirit to them himself. To first and foremost dedicate themselves to obedience to the known will of God, then prayerfully make request for understanding of that which is God.

1Cr 2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

We speak wisdom among them that are mature/complete/perfect. Shall we expect the 'outer court' to understand? Shall we expect those who are carnal Christians to understand the Spirit of God? It is 'hidden' wisdom for a reason. God has revealed what he has prepared for those who love him to them. He has not revealed it to those who do not love him. Jesus said, If you love me keep my commands. A disobedient person does not receive revelation from God of these things instead they get the grand delusion instead (2 Thes 2).

Onelights post pointed out much scripture pertaining to the Holy Spirit. My experience is that I did not quite grasp the concept of the Holy Spirit until I strove diligently seeking obedience unto every revealed word and work of God in scripture. As God has continued his work of sanctification in me, my understanding has become clearer and clearer, and I have realized that it isn't simply something that I can explain to another, especially one who is an unbeliever or carnal in nature. If you don't already have the Holy Spirit indwelling you how can you receive the things of the spirit that are spiritually discerned? You can't know them. So I won't bother trying to explain them to you. Instead I will point you in the right direction so that you can have God reveal this truth unto you himself through his spirit.

2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

You can search the scriptures day and night but if you don't follow them you merely deceive yourself (James 2). Come out from among them, then God will receive you. This was my experience. And now I am taught of God not to debate with others nor try to explain to them things that they cannot receive but instead to lead and guide others to obedience which is rewarded by revelation of the mysteries of God through the inner witness of the Holy Spirit that knows the deep things of God and reveals them unto whomever he wishes.

May the Lord God Almighty reveal unto you all things as you walk obediently in his word,

Gary

So rather than doggedly sticking to the trinitarian party line, I see the holy spirit as God's active force, emanating from him, and used extensively by him to accomplish his will. With it he can empower others to perform supernatural fetes and to carry out difficult assignments.

The Bible might be difficult to understand in some places, but it isn't non-sensical.

19“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,...

26“When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, 27and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.

One can only know G-d through the revelation of the Holy Spirit...it is He that testifies to our hearts the truth concerning the Father and the Son...so it is always apparent that when

people are unable to grasp who Jesus is, it is because the truth has not been made known to them because they neither know/recognise/love Jesus, nor the Spirit that testifies of Him.

The Apostle John puts it this way.....

1John 3:23This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. 24The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him,

and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

The holy spirit has no personal name, no titles, and is never seen in heaven at the left hand of the Father in visions that showed Jesus at the right.....there is a very clear description of how God accomplished his will and that is by means of the operation of his holy spirit. :)

God Himself Tells Us Who The Holy Spirit Is

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. John 14:16-18

And What He Does

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26

But Then Again, You Must Believe In God

Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. John 16:7-11

~

Believe

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

And Be Blessed Beloved

Love, Joe

If the same spirit directs all who claim to operate by it, then why don't you all believe the same things? If Jim Smith claims to be guided by holy spirit and so does Fred Bloggs yet they espouse different teachings...who do I believe?

Yep, that is the hard part. :taped:

That is just a really really really bad conclusion. Jehovah Witnesses have changed their translations so many times, it is hard to keep up with them

Why is that?

You may as well ask, "If God is real, then why doesn't everyone believe in Him?"

The Holy Spirit always speaks the truth. Man, however, does not always listen well. Some even take what He tells us and twist it to conform to what they believe, creating their own doctrine. Those who seek to become mature in Him will listen with a keen ear and test what they believe they are told against scripture. Listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit is a learning process in itself. We get to understand the difference between what we think we hear and what He truly says by becoming closer to Him. When a person does not believe the Holy Spirit is a true entity, how can they hear Him?

Fearing that some might not understand what your saying, may I also add. Those who don't believe the Holy Spirit is are true entity hear him just fine when he is convicting them of their sin just as I did when I was an unbeliever. They just don't understand that that is what is happening.

In Love,

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
