The elections have passed and we know the outcome.

I talked to a deacon friend from a small church that I used to attend regularly and found out that their pastors urged the members to vote Obama.

I know that the nation is suppose to go downhill. But this really surprised me because there is meat in their sermons; it's not

a feel good church. The reasoning behind their support is because Romney was "anti-Christ-like." I get it (2 Cor 11:3)

However, God has used non-believers to bring forth His plan for His people.

So I let that church go from "a place to go to." We will be friends but I feel they went off path somewhere.

An important note is because they've always stressed how the world is going downhill and we need to be a reflection

of God's glory. They cracked the whip but still felt that Obama and his party are the right choice.

I'm wrestling with the disappontment. any wise words for me, for or against, my decision?

That amazes me because we were/are suffering under an abortion loving, homosexual agenda supporting, socialist, unchristian, egomaniac. What are those pastors thinking?

The country lived through Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt, and we'll live through Obama if we don't let the Muslims take over... Get and Keep out of debt and don't live above your means, whatever that is. Who knows, Bill Clinton was different his second administration, so lets just see how it goes.

I have let this be known before but arguing and complaining about politics should not ever be a point to break fellowship over.

this is the heart of my struggle.

How can the pastors point at the evils of the world in their sermons yet come to their conclusion,

I don't really care about the members choices but spiritual leaders expressing this is different. Believe me, those pastors have exposed

me to some scriptures that have left me in awe.

However, they ought to know better.

Then again, I am holding them against what is "obvious" to me.

I have let this be known before but arguing and complaining about politics should not ever be a point to break fellowship over. Our sole (and soul) purpose is to be about the business of advancing the kingdom, for God's glory and those in need of Christ, and not dallying in the entanglements of worldly affairs. We are in the world for God's ends, not of the world in service to earthly powers. The motto of America is "In God we trust" and that is where all our trust should go; if all the people did this with their whole heart, this nation would be an Eden. Changing laws does not change hearts. The Law was not enough for the Jews. As a citizen of heaven--and heaven alone, I need to add--our reliance is on spirit and grace through a total commitment on the love of God. Pagan Rome was a tyrannical rule of sin and cruelty: what did Jesus have to say? "Render unto Caesar..." God is in control.

I don't think he is worried about the politics. I think he notices that the ten commandments are being broken right, left and center by the person

that this pastor told the congregation to vote for

I am sure that would concern you as well

Abortion and gay so called marriage are not political issues.

I feel your pain exrockstar. Sounds like there was a compromise by church leadership. Remember we're not to put our hope on any one person or church but on Jesus Christ and God's word as found in the Bible. Honestly, I could not bring myself to vote for Obama due to his stances on abortion and same-sex marriage.

Hang in there brother. :mgcheerful:

I agree Sevnseas. ;)

Big Hug to you. God bless you! :bighug:

Numenian I know you already know this but I disagree we're simply citizens of Heaven. We have dual-citizenship until Christ's return. We can deny the existence of the physical world around us all we want but that doesn't change we live in the world yet we're set apart. ;)

I'm wrestling with the disappointment. any wise words for me, for or against, my decision?

Yes, I am disappointed to. Any time I place my faith in man I often come out feeling disappointed. Walking the talk is a hard thing to do for all men, be it pastor or lay people. I place my Trust and my Faith in the Almighty God, Faith that tells me that everything is as it should be, for God, will turn what ever happens into something Glorious for His Use. Read God's word meditate on His Word and know that Jesus is the only man that one can trust in that will not disappoint.

If your teacher does not follow the path of what he teaches then one has to trust God that the good works in you will shine through to those around you or maybe it is time to get a new teacher. Yet, I would first bring whatever is bothering you up to this person, with another brother, the Word of God and prayer, before making any decisions on what to do.

You made the right dicission.

In the book of Romans speaks of homosexuality...God is against it. Muchless same-sex marriages and.... abortion is murdering babies.

Obama is for abortion and same-sex marriages.

God tells us to beware of wolves in sheeps' clothing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
