I hope Louisiana is next . If they don't I will be moving also. I see no hope with the economy the way it is.

are you guys going to exile the 3 and 1/2 million folks that voted for Obama in Texas?

I would imagine after the Obama freebies ended, they'd move!

how will you replace the jobs for the 300,000 federal employees in Texas?

After all the crushing federal taxes and regulations are ended, they'll be plenty of new businesses for those people to work for!

While I don't see anything coming from a secessionist movement in Texas or any other state (sorry, but the FEDGOV has most of the things like tanks and nukes and things that go boom); I do think all this talk reveals an undercurrent that could prove - shall we say - interesting - in the next year or so.

The term is dis-enfranchisment. I've experienced it here for years - living as I do in the "People's Republik of NY". Now - for the first time in my adult life - I'm feeling it on the national level, as well.

If the feeling I have is widespread, what might it mean? In my own case, nothing. But what about others?

How do people respond when they perceive the government is out of control - and elections just make things worse, not better?

How to people respond when they are taxed to the hilt to pay for more and more "freeloaders"? And the only response is - you don't pay your "fair share"?

How do people respond to what they might perceive as hopelessness?

Perhaps we shall find out - coming to a country near you, real soon.

Blessings!

are we really taxed that much?

I read a study not long ago that said our % of income going to taxes is at it lowest since the 1950's. (this includes state and local taxes which have risen faster than Fed taxes)

Hmmm . . . of all the provocative statements in that post, you chose that one to comment on? Oh well. Short answer - YES!

Considering all the waste and fraud on the spending side - YES!

(I wish I could be more emphatic, but I'd have to resort to my former sailor language)

Blessings!

This isn't the first time Texas has proposed such a measure.

Though I think it's rather naive and simply reactionary politics making a threat much like the child in the sandbox who promises to take his toys home if others don't play nice.

What would be required for a State or a collection of States to secede successfully is beyond the promise stickers propose.

The northern part of South Carolina has a group that's promised to secede for almost a decade now if not longer. (Project Exodus) And thus far all it's profited is talk, angst and donations for the cause.

The thing about Obama is people are upset he got a second term. However, Romney during the campaign didn't prove he'd be a better man for the job. He presented himself as a self-admitted liar. His chief adviser on the campaign admitted he was a liar during the first debate when Romney claimed preexisting conditions would be covered under his 'superior' national health care plan that would replace Obama's if he was elected into office.

What people seemed to miss about his promise in that regard was that a Republican was promising he would be responsible for pushing forth a socialist health care plan to replace the socialist national health care plan that was already in the works. But was seemingly untenable because it was a dread Democrats national socialist health care plan.

Meanwhile Romeny's socialist health care plan was signed into law when he was Governor of Massachusetts in 2006. And it puts a tax burden on that State's citizens that exceeds what Obama's national coverage proposes. And has for six years in the practice.

I think we have to stop carving out this nation by dividing ourselves as a people and holding more loyalty to party and partisan politics than we do to for our collective future.

The politicians, as Romeny clearly demonstrated, are self-serving and will say anything in order to garner the trust of the American voter when and where they need it. Otherwise they act in the best interest of whomever pays them to do the job we trusted them to do on behalf of the 99% of us who don't have the kind of money to buy influence.

Instead of cheering States leaving the union and fracturing this nation due to bad politics, we should unite to change the bad politicians so we can return this country to the promise it was founded upon. The government works for us. Not as now when we work for the government. And that is a condition that is the responsibility of both parties. Particularly the Republican when Bush43 took office after running as a Republican and once in the office acted like a ultra-left wing Democrat until the day he left it 8 years later.

WE the people of the UNITED States of America.... 99% has a right to have a say. We don't cut and run because 1% acts like it's their country and we just work here.

Amen?

I do think Texas is large enough to actually survive on it's own, and that this threat is real. I also believe many states would follow them. Many of us would be willing to relocate to Texas to get our freedom back. That being said, I am proposing a Constitutional Amendment as an alternative.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS NO AUTHORITY TO DECLARE ANY LEGISLATION PASSED AT THE STATE LEVEL UNCONSTITUTIONAL. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS NO AUTHORITY TO TELL ANY STATE WHAT THEY MAY OR MAY NOT DO WITH LAND OR RESOURCES WITHIN THE BORDERS OF THAT STATE. THE POWERS OF THE STATE ARE SUPERIOR TO THOSE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, AND THE STAtES MAY REJECT ANY LAWS PASSED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, AND MAY REJECT ANY EXECUTIVE ORDERS. THE STATES HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEFEND THEIR OWN BORDERS, AND MAY REJECT ANY TREATY PASSED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. THE BILL OF RIGHTS AND THE CONSTITUTION ONLY APPLY TO LIMITATIONS ON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, AND HAVE NO AUTHORITY TO LIMIT THE STATES FROM PASSING ANY LEGISLATION THEY WISH. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS NO AUTHORITY TO FORCE ANY CITIZEN TO ENGAGE IN COMMERCE OR FACE A PENALTY OR TAX FOR FAILING TO DO SO.

This would have the same effect as creating 50 states, but it would still be one nation. The federal government would just lose most of it's control over the actions of the state. In addition to that, with all that power gone to lord over the states, most of the government agencies would cease to have any value, and with them dismantled, it will immediately allow the government to balance the budget, and even start paying down the debt. They spend a great deal of resources on enforcing regulations on the states.

I will go along with secession, if states like Texas decide to pull out, but I do think this alternative plan will work, and could catch on.

Not sure why we need that when it is already evident in the document that the Federal Government has limited powers after the States.

Found amongst the list of the works of the flesh which are manifest is sedition. One must be careful to properly understand and interpret the laws of the land as understood by God. If they do not do so, they might find themselves fighting for a cause that actually goes against God and all such causes are futile as God will not support them. If God be for us, nobody can be against us for sure but if God is not on our side then, as Zedekiah found out, it will be painful and we will not succeed.

I quite like this improbable fantasy of the USA following in the footsteps of the USSR. Presumably in this scenario Texas would become the Western hemispheres answer to Khazkstan; florida the New ukraine, Louisiana the Cajun Azerbijan. Presumably the former Soviet Georgia would have to have a war with the former US Georgia over which had the right to use the name.

how would this be different than what happened in 1776 and why should the US response be any different than that of England?

This is a strange question to ask when you had already asked if we are being taxed too much. Our rebellion against England was based on them ruling us, where one way to extract money from us was through taxes. Consider the Boston Tea Party.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
