can anyone answer me a question...

How do you know when someone needs healing through 'normal' secular help e.g. counselling etc. or if someone needs healing through prayer - using spiritual warfare.

Can it do damage if one isn't identified correctly?

Well, that's a loaded question fo rnot knowing the situation.

If I may share my experience?

I've suffered from chronic depression since I was a child, and I have had moments of major depressive episodes (the range of being suicidal).

Every one of my major depressive episodes wer overcome through spiritual means.

Dealing with the chronic depression - I've gone through both routes. Well, I didn't rely on "secular" counseling; I went through the Christian counseling route.

The greatest breakthrough I've had was actually rather recent. I was going through some hard times, and to make a long story short, I was provoked into seeking the Lord for the source of my insecurity. The Lord took me back to a memory of an event that happened when I was a child. No need for details, I'll just say that a family situation happened that left me feeling rejected, worthless, and that I couldn't do anything right. I "learned" I had to be perfect or I'd be rejected. In dealing with that issue, I noticed a release from all these fears I had been wrapped in for so long!

Hope this gives you some perspective to think about!

Malichi Martin used to say that you should have the person see a psycologist and a doctor to rule out those kinds of problems.

I personally don't know.

Greetings Gromore,

Regardless of what the source, Jesus is ALWAYS the REMEDY. Today we are relying much more on the secular doctors and pharmacologists than ever before. I am not saying that there are times when a physician or someone in the medical field is not needed. But START with prayer.

You should have fellowship with believers who are "open" to the "Spirit of God" that should be able to help you AND perhaps even instruct you in how you too can determine the difference between various types of illnesses, either physical or spiritual. Do not be afraid to look around, but find a good fellowship of believers that are well grounded in the Word of God.

I have seen demonic work in action, and though I am not as "sensitive", I also know that "my spirit" will identify a "like" spirit, but the Holy Spirit will check my spirit if there is more going on in the spiritual realm than I can see. It really pays to have the "full armor of God" on each day and to be prayed up.

So find some local fellowship and perhaps bring your "friend" (?) into their presence. Where 2 or 3 are gathered together in His Name, there He is also.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

It seems that unless there is a problem with a chemical imbalance or an injury to the brain, all psychological problems are spiritual. Reminds me of the instance when Jesus had an encounter with the man who was living in the tombs. Next thing you know, this man was clothed and in his right mind. I'm not a psychologist but that is my two cents worth on what I studied in college in psychology.

Amen Dad Ernie !!!!! Jesus died on the cross and freed us from sin. The Lord can free us from any ailment

:emot-hug: big hug ...I hope that the Lord helps heal all of the problems you have had , and continues to show you just how much you are loved .

As for the possibility demonic influence , like it has already been pointed out , the enemy or his cronies are always there , waiting for us to become weak . Be strong in Jesus and he will guide you as to how you should handle the situation . To God be the glory .

The problem is that we aren't seeing these kinds of miraculous deliverances in the church today, at least they are rare rather than common, so people tend to resort to drugs and therapy even when they already know Jesus. I believe 100% based on scripture that illness and affliction, both physical and mental are demonic in origin. Unfortunately I don't see the signs and wonders we're supposed to be able to perform in action. Don't know what's up with that.

Actually, I know of ministers who are involved with deliverance ministries, as it's called. One I am personally acquainted with from church. Some of the testimonies he shares are dramatic like that.

So, yeah, it does happen!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
