A chronic sinus infection normally means that the skin inside your sinuses is damaged, which can have a couple of factors;

Dehydration

Foreign materials (smoke, smog, particles in dry air)

Hydration helps with both problems.  Drinking lots and lots of fluids will give your sinuses what it needs to clean out any foreign objects which may be causing damage naturally AND give it what it needs to heal the damaged tissue.  Once the tissue is healed you will have better resistance to infection.  Hydration also thins out the mucus so that your sinuses will be more clear.  Dehydration causes mucus to be too thick to clear out properly - and can lead to the infected mucus hanging out in your sinuses and even moving into your chest.

Steam helps to hydrate - moves the mucus and opens the airways - but as you most likely have inflamed tissue in your sinus you should add a little something extra to the water.  Mint, Jasmine, Chamomile all reduce respiratory inflammation.  These are things you can do on your own, but a doctor might prescribe a corticos steroid (nose roids) if you can get to one.

The steroid would help speed the healing, but since your problem is chronic there is more than likely an environmental factor which you will need to take control of.  Try to identify what is doing the initial damage to your sinuses - do you drink enough water, is the air dry in your home or work place, do you have an allergy?  The air in office buildings is normally very dry and damaging, so sip lots of water at work!

I'm not a doctor/medical person. But if its an infection, antibotics will normally deal with at part of it. If you don't kill off whats causing the infection its just going to come back again. The advice about hydration, etc. is good also. I live in a desert and dehydration can sneak up without you realizing it, so drink lots of water.

Angel4u: FMLA Family Medical Leave Act, it is to protect the individual and their employer, from either  of them from getting into trouble.  That is my employer states no more than 3 occurrences or 3 different periods in a six month period of calling in absence especially calling in sick.  So with my FMLA it all counts as one occurrence for each occurrence under the FMLA/sinussix months.

TsukinoRei and Walla: in the past I had  3 emergency visits to the hospital within a 18 month period, here in town for dehydration but have learn a trick from my doctor so as to know that I safe from that.  (He told me as long as I can see the veins in my arm I'm not dehydrated).  But I know for full health I need to be drinking much more water.  Just knowing my body I need will over 100 ounces of water a day, to stay fully healthy so you, probably have something their.  Plus one of my main jobs at work is to mess with a Produce wet wall which is full of germs not helpful to me at all. My doctor has also given me Fluticasone to help.

Avalon yea I know the feeling last Saturday night I missed taking my 24hour pill (couldn't find it) for sinuses, and I'm wondering if it has something to do with this go around

I'm very sorry.  It wasn't my intention to cause any problem or give a false impression that I am any sort of medical expert.

My wife had severe sinus infections for years. The sinus infections frequently led to bronchitis & she would need antibiotics. We found an article on a website that suggested irrigating the sinuses with a saline solution to flush out the bacteria that was causing the infections. She did that for a few months and found almost immediate relief. Today she seldom has a sinus infection; she no longer does the irrigation instead she takes a daily dose of an OTC antihistamine.

A few drop of eucalyptus essential oil in about 2 quarts of warm water  in a steam humidifier does wonders for my hubby.    Just hold your head over the warm (not too hot) steam vapor and inhale it. Do this at least three times a week until the problem is resolved.  Eucalyptus oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties in it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
