I have been to a few 3rd world and lower countries and I agree with you that we have it great here and I am grateful for all we have.  But that does not mean I have to view our country through rose colored glasses.   I think I have a very realistic view of the country, I understand we have the biggest stick and are not afraid to use it to make people do things for our good more than their own.   We invaded two sovereign countries in the last decade plus not for their benefit but for our own.   We kill people indiscriminately with drones and other methods.   I think if people looked at our country with a more discerning eye we could affect changes for the better.

I am not looking at America through rose-colored glasses.   That is a ridiculous accusation.   Parents love and take pride in their children, even with the flaws and shortcomings their kids have.  They still think they have the best kids around.

I am the same way.  I love America with all of its flaws and even when we do junk I don't like.   I still think we are the greatest nation by far and I am proud of my country even though it has done things I am not proud of.   I am not proud of either the Afghan or Iraq war, but that doesn't mean we are not an exceptional country, because we are.   We are the greatest nation and the world would have been much worse off had we not been around or had we not been as great as we are.  I am just as realistic as anyone and I don't white wash our flaws.  But I am proud of this country and I am not going to let anyone diminish that pride because it is justified by history.

We invaded two sovereign countries in the last decade plus not for their benefit but for our own.

The same can be pretty claimed for both WWI and WWII and the first gulf war.

We kill people indiscriminately with drones and other methods.

No, we don't.   Sounds like you're drinking the far Left kool-aid.

Do you not read the news?  We have killed close to 3000 people with drones since 2008.

Yes, but you said they were indiscriminate.   what I have heard in the news that we hit targeted individuals.   Any time people were not killed as targets were the result of technical malfunctions which has happened in other conflicts as well.    My point is that we don't kill indiscriminately.

Who told the news what the target was?  How do you know who was targeted?  Seems this information comes from the Obama administration, do you trust them on this issue?

Is that 3000 deliberately or 3000 indiscriminately? Drones are meant to kill. In case you had forgotten, America has enemies.

And with each drone attack we create more enemies than we kill.  Here, from your home country's news service.   http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-23606812

The information comes from our own military.   We hear about target killings of high level al qaeda operatives and leaders and people like anwar ah lawki  and others.

And yes we create enemies when we kill terrorists.  We make enemies from people who didn't like us anyway.  Big deal.  Does that mean we stop killing terrorists?  I don't think so.

We create more enemies than we kill? Well you'd better stop then. I'm pretty sure that stopping killing Germans and Japanese in WW2 would have been the best solution because it probably created more enemies than it killed. Let's not fight the enemy at all shall we, in case it upsets people!

Terrorists despise the U.S. anyway. Do you think that they are going to like you any more because you refuse to defend yourself against them? Drones are designed to kill terrorists. Unfortunately, being the despicable lowlifes that they are, they have a tendency to deliberately hide behind women and children. That's not the fault of the U.S.

And BTW, the BBC are extremely biased. I rarely bother with them.

Other than flying them our military has little to do with the target choices and those doing the flying have no idea who they are targeting.  The CIA and a few agencies make the call.  So, in essence you are accepting what the Obama administration tells you at face value.  Seems an odd position based on your other post.  There is a big difference between someone who does not like you and an enemy.

Every news source in existence today is extremely biased, that is just something one has to accept when looking at them.

This is the result of decades of anti-American propaganda. Many people have been brainwashed into believing that the U.S.A. is the biggest threat to World Peace. This is Satan working behind the scenes.

If the U.S.A. disappeared tomorrow, there would still exist Saudi Arabia, Iran and numerous other Islamic states who have made it clear that they want Islamic law to dominate the Earth. Not to mention, rogue dictatorships like North Korea and even China. Without America, the defender of the free World, the rest of the Globe would be easy pickings for the wolves out there.

In fact, I think that the Muslim nations have a bare-faced cheek claiming that the U.S. is a threat, considering their own violent agendas.

If however these nations  vanished into thin air (especially the Islamic ones) then Global peace would be just around the corner.

Honestly, you'd have to be an utter fool to think that the U.S. is the biggest threat to Global peace, but unfortunately there are a lot of fools about. These are the same fools that declare Israel a the major threat to peace in the Middle East.

Honestly, I give up with some people!

Well said, WW.  :mgbowtie:

You are correct, I have not and I will rescind what I said.  It is refreshing to see you have such faith in President Obama.  I guessed I missed judged you.

How does being realistic about our country equate to hating it?   What is patriotic about ignoring the problems so that they can never be addressed?  I love this country every bit as much as you and based on your post on this forum, more so.   One does not need to be blindly devoted to something to love it.   Why do you have to be such a bullly all the time, why can you not accept that there are people that feel differently than you do without making everything personal?

Lookingforanswers,    My comments about american exceptionalism were tongue-in-cheek.  This is not a thread about American exceptionalism.  Sheesh.

What was the sheesh for?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
