IMO, I think people need to look up....into the sky....at night.....dey is a whole beeeeg bunch of suns and earths...ok planets

no wait.......galaxies......I would say black holes, but those who peer into such things, are revisiting that theory......and expansion everywhere you can look

I expand my thoughts on God when I gaze up...which, incidentally, is scriptural, but why do people shut down when theories are brought up or questions asked?

We are allowed to think as long as we do not assume everyone on the planet must think just like us.  Of course some of us are better thinkers than others.......

======================================================================================================

but why do people shut down when theories are brought up or questions asked?

What "People" are you referring to?

We are admonished to.....

(1 Thessalonians 5:21) "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good."

and

(Proverbs 18:13) "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him."

So personally, I scrutinize everything 6 ways from Sunday.  Just a cursory look @ the Big Bang Theory reveals the Sun before the Earth (and then the completely Nonsensical Nebular Hypothesis which is laughable "scientifically" speaking but that's for another discussion)

GOD'S WORD says the Earth was First and the SUN, Moon, and Stars were Day 4.   See the Conundrum?

So instead of using "science" as my Hermeneutic Filter, I Choose GOD'S WORD instead.

We do know, and this is what we KNOW...God created...I am not going to pretend I  agree with those who think it was an actual 7 days...my husband believes that; I do not,

Well you not only have a problem with The Plain WORD in Genesis, you've got major issues here.....

(Exodus 20:11) "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."

but we are wise enough to agree that neither of us will get into heaven on the merits of how many days or years God (creatively) played with the clay of the earth

Wise enough?

Well the point is..... if we can't believe what GOD Plainly says in Genesis, which is then confirmed quite demonstrably in Exodus (above), what can we believe?

Do we pick and choose?

Genesis 1:1 is the Bible's description of the big bang.

Enoch.....your response does not lead to further discussion.  You are basically insulting me and doing so because you do not agree.

In that regard, I am not at all sure you would appreciate me taking the time to go over what you believe are points well made.

I'm not ignoring you...I just do not care to engage with the tone you have taken.  Thanks

IIMHO:

Das Big Bang.

The theory to me seems like a reasonable model by which to explain an expanding universe.  But I don't know how it could ever be proven.  BTW, I am not convinced that the only explanation of red shift is the Doppler effect caused by everything moving away from us.

If everything is moving away from each other, that would be consistent with devastating results of the Fall of Adam.

I think it beez safe to say that if you give the scientists a little time, they will probably come up with a new theory.

Now who among us has the training & time to take the data on which such a theory is based & crunch the numbers, do the equations, square the hippopotamus?  Can one really do replicable experiments in a controlled environment on the cosmos?  Methinks the internet has a multitude of persons who never passed one university course in science, & who could not pass a high school test on Algebra, yet waxing dogmatic on such stuff.  Yet science is their religion.

Often those who know the least know the most.

Baseless Assertion.......Please show where?

That's an Assumption.  I wouldn't mind @ all

Tone??  How do you know my Tone..... this is a written Forum.

I pointed out various Facts and supported them....any comment on those?

Isn't the Big Bang Theory by itself just the idea that the Universe had a rapid, explosive beginning?

Don't we as Christians believe this? ("In the beginning, God created..." BANG "the heavens and the earth")  Makes sense to me!

Evolutionists twist this to fit their theory, but I am pretty sure they weren't happy with the BBT originally, because they believed the universe was infinite/eternal.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

That's the very first and second verses of the Bible

God created the heavens AND earth...the earth was formless and empty...no one was there....only the Spirit of God hovering over the waters

We only really know that God created everything.  I don't think we know exactly how it was and I am not going to defend that position because it simply really and truly does not need a defense.

Then we read about the earth as an individual planet

We do know, and this is what we KNOW...God created...I am not going to pretend I  agree with those who think it was an actual 7 days...my husband believes that; I do not,

The "big bang" holds that an explosion started the universe - the explosion of an extremely dense mass of matter that started the universe. Nothing about GOD in that. If scientists would attribute that event to the creation/Creator, then maybe it would be true. But scientists believe and teach that it was a spontaneous event, that matter existed before a non-existent GOD created it.

Hey Sheniy,

Don't we as Christians believe this? ("In the beginning, God created..." BANG "the heavens and the earth")  Makes sense to me!

1.  Can you show me in Genesis or Scripture describing the beginning as an "explosion"?

2.  Just a cursory look @ the Big Bang Theory reveals the Sun before the Earth (and then the completely Nonsensical Nebular Hypothesis which is laughable "scientifically" speaking but that's for another discussion) and without water

Does this Line up with the WORD?  How should we treat it if not?

Well thank you and I can see that we share some common interests...from your little column on the right there...whoops the other right one on the left there

Theology....Sci-Fi....Art.....really like Japanese gardens and their approach to balance  (not for any religious reasons tho)...Astronomy.....certain books...I used to read alot more....worship music

but no slight addiction to computer games..and you agree with my post

could be we might see things somewhat the same, what?   :brightidea:

I have not even stated I believe in the Big Bang theory, but I think the post you quoted here definately shows I believe God created everything and that I worship Him as Creator...

I think that at certain times, what people ask us to line up with the word, actually translates to being asked to line up our thoughts with how they perceive what is often debated

I am actually pretty conservative in my approach to scripture but there are a few things that I am not agreeing with and this is one of those things
