What are you thoughts on helping one another?

This could be anything from salvation issues to just helping someone find something small that they lost.

If the compassionate love of God doesn't dwell in us, something is seriously wrong. But how we respond to the needs we see differs according to our gifts. My hubby always sees physical needs and does all the things mentioned. He helps in any way he can, if it is only to sweep floors. But I am more apt to see a person's loneliness or spiritual need. I will try to encourage them, pray for them, and offer a bottle of cold water to a stranded motorist while hubby drives home, gets the jumper cables, helps start the car and get the people on their way. I don't even think of doing the things he sees and does.

in vegas it was easy to find hungry people... that's the kind of helping that God has led me to do on so many occasions. i've been back in texas for three years, and the other day when i stopped at jack in the box, i was blessed with an opportunity again. i went inside, thinking nothing about the woman standing under the awning out of the rain, smoking a cigarette. i went in, ordered, and waited for what seemed like forever to get my food. (empty inside, but long long line at the drive through... and only one new person working the counter that didn't know much of what she was doing.) 

 

when i left the building, the woman was still there. she asked me if i could spare a quarter. i asked her if she'd eaten today... the standard question that used to come out of my mouth when i'd encounter homeless people in vegas. she said no, looking down at the ground. i told her well let's go inside and get you something to eat. she looked up at me, and her entire face lit up. i took her in and bought her the sausage croissant with hashbrowns that she requested.

 

and i felt blessed.

our nation as a whole would be wise to remember that.

I believe in helping others in any way I can. Of course that doesn't mean to help someone do evil or commit a crime. But I'll help someone emotionally or to cross a street, hold open a door, etc.  Jesus said treat others as you would have them treat you. I would hope people would help me when I need it, so I do the same.
