I would like to say I'm surprised this conversation has gone on this long but I'm really not because I know we have trouble letting go of our fairy tales.  As I told you in my previous post if you want to know where we will spend Eternity read the last part of Rev. 20 and the first part of 21.  That makes it clear that our eternal home is NOT Heaven.

"Technically" our eternal home is in the New Jerusalem, which eventually comes down from Heaven. The New Jerusalem is presently in Heaven. So for all practical purposes the two are in such close proximity that we need not split hairs. Not sure what you mean by "fairy tales", but whether we say "Heaven" or "heavenly city" I believe we are all referring to the same place.  What we are NOT referring to is niggardly "rooms" in such a spacious city (which would volumetrically equal all the inhabited regions of the earth, since it is a cubic city).

If you read the Scripture I suggested you will see that our eternal home is on the New Earth.  And there is no Scripture saying that the New Jerusalem lands on Earth it says it comes down out of Heaven.  The fairy tale is that we will spend eternity in Heaven.

You seem to have forgotten that Christ spoke of "the Father's house", which can only be in Heaven (Jn 14:1-3).  So we should stick with the words of the Lord.

The New Earth is for redeemed and restored Israel and the redeemed nations who will surround Israel.  But just as Abraham looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God (Heb 11:10), believers also look for that same city New Jerusalem, since that is the home of the Lamb's Wife.

Scripture does NOT say that New Jerusalem will come down to earth, but rather Jerusalem on earth will be redeemed and restored and become the centre of worship.  However New Jerusalem will "hover" over the earth and give light to it. And this will be the eternal home of the Church.

Quite right, as far as I have read in the Bible anyway.

Our eternal home is this earth when and where the heavenly city will settle.

All the differing views posted in this thread have actually encouraged me, because you all honor God by believing He is "a rewarder of those who seek Him." So I don't want to be too dogmatic about my views - anymore.

The saints are not in paradise.  They were in paradise, but they were taken to heaven.  They were in paradise until the resurrection.  Jesus went to paradise and preached there and then the saints were taken to heaven.  Hell remains in the heart of the earth.  The Bible tells us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  The Lord is not in paradise.  He is at the right hand of the Father in heaven.  Remember Stephen's vision in Acts?

New Jerusalem is the eternal home of the saints.  It will come down from heaven at the end of the millennial reign of Christ.

Paradise (and the tree of life) were evidently transferred to the New Jerusalem at some time.  Please note Rev 2:7 and 22:2, both of which mention the tree of life:

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

We are not told when Paradise was transferred to the New Jerusalem, just as we are not told when the Ark of the Covenant (Testament) was transferred to the Temple in Heaven (Rev 11:19).  The tree of life will play an important role in eternity.

Why would anyone arrive at such a conclusion? John does not say that the heavenly city comes down to earth.  He simply says it comes down "out of heaven" (Rev 21:2) and "descending out of heaven from God" (Rev 21:10) and then goes on to say that "the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it" (Rev 21:24).  That is similar to humans today walking on earth in the light of the sun.  The earth will need a source of light in eternity, and that source will be the New Jerusalem, where God the Father and the Lamb are the light of it (Rev 21:23).

Hi Ezra,

I agree with you in regard to the placement of the New Jerusalem over the earth. God made different areas for His purpose & each will have His government in the ages to come.

Amen~!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. Psalms 46:1-5

And Amen~!

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:1-5

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
