if you are a christian and own a store that sells alcohol isn't that act going against Christian beliefs?  Selling a product may not actually be supporting someone's lifestyle nor going against someone's faith.

I would not be too quick to leap to conclusions that may present yourselves as hypocritical.  Christians sell knives and other weapons which are used for purely anti-christian purposes should Christians stop selling everything because products can be used in an anti-christian way?

There is only ONE use for plan b. Christian pharmacists I know feel quite strongly that they cant sell it. Nothing hypocritical about it.

see my other post about hypocrisy

we can go around and around on this all day and I for one do not want to get into an emotional argument or discussion. i would rather that you all keep things in perspective and not label something persecution when it is not.

if i were a pharmacist i am sure i would have a problem with selling the pill but then maybe christian pharmacists should stop selling condoms, birth control and other methods that stop pregnancies if they do not want to be seen as hypocritical.

As far as the various restrictions in scripture concerning sexual relationships, we do need to look at scripture.

The most comprehensive set of laws comes from the Mosaic covenant.

There is nothing in the OT about using a condom. (Same with the NT). The closest I can find is the sin of Onan. In the OT, if a married man dies childless, the brother of the man is to take the widow as his wife and bare a child. That child would be considered the deceased brothers child, as linage and children were important for inheritance. Onan did not want to marry the widow of his brother, and did not want the child as the child would be considered his brothers. Onan 'spilled his seed' upon the ground rather then have a child and support that child which would not be legally his and counted towards his linage. Since this is a particular situation which is not practiced in the U.S., it would not apply to the use of condoms. The only potential scripture which might apply would be 'be fruitful and multiply' as condoms were prevent that.

Other birth control methods like the birth control pill (not the morning after pill) would go against being fruitful and multiplying. The rhythm method would go against Mosaic law which specifies when a man and woman can not come together due to the woman being in an unclean state.

Abortion and the morning after pill are murder, and would be a violation of both the OT and NT. Other methods of birth control might violate the Mosaic covenant, but not the New Covenant. So for Christians, it is not hypocrisy to sell condoms or any other method of birth control other then abortion and the morning after pill. It is a sin in the NT to commit murder.

There is nothing in the OT about using computers, flying in planes or sending mail either.  your point is weak and nonsensical.

your argument is stretched too thin. other methods would violate the new covenant because they violate do unto others and other passages of scripture, then you need ot make sure which OT rules are replaced by NT ones. Under your logic tattoos are okay under the new covenant yet like homosexuality, God hasn't chnaged his views about our bodies.

So for Christians, it is not hypocrisy to sell condoms or any other method of birth control other then abortion and the morning after pill. It is a sin in the NT to commit murder.

it is very hypocritical, you need to re-examine your motives and desires before syaing things like that.

A gun is only used to kill people?

It can be easily used to kill wild game.

Anyway, Christian pharmacists do not sell liquor. The pharmacy might but not the pharmacist. Yet the pharmacist is the one who has to sell plan b and refusing is not hypocritical for the Christian pharmacist.

You see it that way, thats your choice. You are not the one selling it anyway.

15 Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

16 But shun profane, vain babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.

Archaeologist55, I just wanted to comment on your last post of selling knives or liquor in a store as a Christian,

selling these things are not against you being a Christian, it is the abuse of the abusor or the handling with out care on that person, people say that Christians are not to drink , I say you are wrong for jesus turned water into wine , but that does not give us the right to abuse the wine, we are allowed to drink but not in excess, and no we do not drink and drive, we do not do things that hurts the body for our body is not of ours it was bought with a price, so anything you can do with out taking it beyond the reasonable limits is being responsible, driving a car is a heavy solid weapon if you hit the gas and run someone over, so it goes to the intent and the mind set of the believer, now we know of things we really should not get into , and those things are  a given, but we need to not place our selves into boxes and say don't do this and don't do that, we are equipt with the holy spirit to guide us in what is right from wrong, watching television is a very bad and dangerous thing for everyone, ,and I believe we as a body should put away the television and read more and spend more time with god, we cannot be too judge mental on people making a living, but we have come into a time in our lives that we need to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh, but our government is slowly taking away the Christian values and our rights as Christians to that even in California it is mandatory to take vaccines for school and there is no longer exception for religious beliefs, so do you really think we are living in the time we can complain, we are in the end times and there are going to be decisions we need to make that will cost us our jobs and friends and even go to jail, we are there in the end times, you have no more constitutional rights ,it is all taken away,i just wanted to share that with you , blessing to you and lets hold on and focus on the cross, we must be strong and endure until the end...

On anything new, which did not exist in OT time, it is best to use the principals in the OT. That is exactly what I did. I took the law and applied it to modern circumstances. By the way, there is no Mosaic law against airplanes or flying airplanes, mail or sending or receiving mail. My point was not non-sensical, although it might appear that way for people who do not use common sense.

Believe it or not 'do unto others' is an OT verse.

Lev. 19:18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against your kinsfolk. Love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD

Also from Judaism, Hillel the Elder (110 bce to 10 ce) said the same thing. Hillel the elder was a very famous Rabbi and teacher who lived before the time of Jesus. A quote from Hillel the Elder:

What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow: this is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn. (Babylonian Talmud Folio Shabbat  31a)

In my original post, I clearly took that into account.

As far as being hypocritical, and needing to examine my motives. I was not hypocritical, nor need to examine my motives for that post. Fortunately, God who knows my heart is my judge and not you.

You would be mistaken and you probably misread what I wrote opting to interpret instead of clarify what was said. Or you assumed something that was not intended and that puts the burden upon you not me.  If you do not accept how I intend something then the problem is not with me but with you

Interesting.  Another poster doesn't agree with you so you proceed to tell them they're doing everything wrong and if they don't see your intent then they have the problem?  With such thinking, how on earth do you even have a conversation with anyone?  Or do you?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
