Nehemiah 8:10 Joy in the Lord

Life is hard.  So driving to church this morning I realize I have never been happier.  Not because I was on the way to church, there are consequences seemingly every time, as the enemy seems to notice and come against me. But,  Nehemiah 8:10 ends in "for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Thinking, what does that even mean?  I know why I have joy every day now, and its not from this world.  Anyway, its cool when you contemplate a verse for 1/2 hour on the way to church and then that same verse gets brought up during the service.  So i've read the commentaries, and i'm hoping someone will have something to share on "for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

In Nehemiah 8:2, we see that this day of Celebration was on the seventh month and first day, the Day that the Lord had charged the Israelites with celebrating what is called the Feast of Trumpets which by our calendar would have started last Sunday night that is the 13th;  Leviticus 23:23-25 and Numbers 29:1-6.  The Jewish people because of their obedience to God's Command could feel His blessing upon themselves.  So that by keeping this Feast of the Lord, God could bless them with His joy.  David prophesying of Christ death and resurrection wrote thee words:  11)  For thou will not leave My Soul in hell, neither will thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption.   12)  Thou wilt show Me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy at Thy right hand there are pleasure forever more.   Psalms 16:10-11     Thee word are spoken about Christ and His coming into the presence of the Father after sacrificing everything for us.  But Christ Jesus also tell us we too can feel this joy.   Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My Name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.   John 16:24    Doesn't it just fill your heart with so much great joy, when you receive something that you have long ask the Father for in Jesus' name.this is one of the greatest joy we all can receive.

I would like to share what I think about this verse if that's okay.  I think it is Nehemiah 8:10 is in reference to Ecclesiastes 9:7

Nehemiah 8:10 "Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” 

Ecclesiastes 9:7 "Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do."  

Therefore, His approval (joy for them) is their strength and they do not need to be grieved anymore. 

Therefore, we are approved when we keep His commandments, "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.  These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full" (John 15:11).  

And, we become the righteousness of God through Christ and experience His joy (2 Corinthians 5:21), which is our strength (Philippians 4:13). 

We also run the race with perseverance for the complete joy of spending an eternity in the presence of God (Hebrews 12:1-2; Revelation 21:23); and experience joy in grief in this life because "whoever humbles himself shall be exalted" (Matthew 23:12) and the joy of the Lord is his strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
