Some sherriff's deputies do not have as much training as police officers. Some places do not offer annual training and updating. It is only now being required in some areas around here that have been slow to do so. The latter city had police opening the high school back in the 50s, and had found it necessary to do so for decades afterward. Neighboring counties were Mayberry. That is not always still the case. I don't care what she said or did; there is NOTHING that could make it okay for a grown man to throw her and drag her across the floor. Nothing! I hope she sues him and he is blacklisted from ever having a job in law enforcement again. I also want to see him spend time in jail because this was flat out assault. If you see the whole video..not just that clip...it shows that girl hitting the police officer numerous times before he took her down.It doesn't matter. Most of you guys probably never had to go to school with police always on campus. Around here there is one officer per school. That means he's outnumbered several thousand to one. I'd react harshly rather than let a situation either continue or get out of control too. And if that was your fourteen year old daughter you would be okay with her being treated that way?? I don't have children. None of that invalidates my opinion. I think the officer overreacted but I don't think he should have been fired. The fact is she chose to act big enough to put her hands on a cop so it's on her head what happened. Or maybe on her parents for raising a kid with no manners who thinks that the rules are only for other people. Also the officer was put in a no win situation that did not require police intervention. Teachers have begun using SRO's as rule enforcement rather than law enforcement creating a situation that is unfair to the officers and students both.
