I have yet to see any English translation that properly translates all of the Greek text....     No matter what manuscripts are used.

Properly? According to who? What is your authority?

reading in English and reading in Greek...     authority is my own common sense.

Please provide an example of an "improper" translation from the KJV, and please don't bring up "Easter" (Acts 12:4) since for their time Passover/Feast of Unleavened Bread (Greek pascha) was "Easter". Admittedly that should have been "Passover"  but it does not affect doctrine or the essential meaning.

If I show you an improper translation will it affect your faith?

((almost nobody reads enough of the Bible, as the Word of Yahweh,  for it to make any difference in their lives,  no matter which version))

I think this is the major problem as well.  When I was saved my pastor bought me this teenage Bible.  I don't even know what version it was, but it had a bunch of devotional that were centered for issues a teenager were have.  I read through the whole thing.  As a result of this, no one will ever be able to tell me that the Bible is not the word of God.  No matter how often we have these Bible version discussions.

When I got older and I moved away from home, I did go to another Baptist church that was KJV only for a time.  My Sunday school teacher got me a Bible and I tried my best to read it because I did think it was important to have an accurate translation.  I did read the websites where they compared the verses.  But, after 6 months of doing this and feeling none of the same wonder or love that I did when I had read from the first teenage version, I threw that burden out the window.

Since then, I have read several different versions, NASB, NIV, HCSB, ESV.  But, the debate still bothers me because I personally do not like the KJV, but I also don't want to be reading something that isn't accurate.

Then, when I learned that John Milton, who was a 17th century scholar, believed that there had been more attempts to degrade the accuracy of the New Testament than the Old Testament, a light bulb went off when I realized that it was the King James Version that created the perfect version theory.  It is like the writers of the King James Version wanted to stuff a sock in everyone's mouths and get them to accept the KJV and stop whining about wanting a Bible.  The King James Version is why there can be no further translating of the Bible, like a type of sorcery.  He stopped critical discussions on improving the text with the many benefits that the modern age to improve our understanding of an accurate transcript.  Obviously, we don't want to be improving a false epistle.  However, this is not possible with the KJV only argument that was established by King James branding the Bible with his royal seal of approval.

As a result of the inspiration from a brilliant man like Milton suggesting that we have the freedom to pursue taking our Bible to the next level of accuracy, I am follower of the new testament translations from the Aramaic more and more.  Andrew Gabriel Roth does the best job of explaining the background to translating from Aramaic New Testament sources rather than Greek ones, but there are several people who are moving away from the King James only debate with the NIV, ESV, NASB, etc., altogether.

So, that is my 2 cents on the subject.

For those who are unfamiliar with Scripture, and unfamiliar with the uncorrupted Scriptures, I would say "Yes", it would affect their faith. For example the JWs have changed John 1:1 to show that Christ is "a god" in their New World Translation.  That would definitely affect peoples' faith. And for those who believe that Jesus is NOT God, the corrupted modern versions in 1 Tim 3:16 help them to "prove" this since the word "God" has been expunged, and that verse could be talking about someone who is less than God. In fact, the Unitarian on the revision committee in the 19th century was delighted with this change.  The words "Jesus" and "Lord" have been deliberately removed for the modern bibles hundreds of times for absolutely no reason.

reading in English and reading in Greek...     authority is my own common sense.

Which Greek manuscript(s) ? And I don't believe you can be your own authority - Authority needs to be outside yourself unless your a dictator... We need our authority to be the word of God - by definition - the word of God is perfect, inerrant etc. And in english it is the KJB. Bible Believers change their view to fit the Bible, not change the Bible to fit a fallible "common sense"; which anyone can make up as they go... Which "proper" translation are you comparing the improper translation to?

Any improper translation is only in your mind. Or a "bible scholar" ; man is your authority. No one can fully and absolutely understand 100% of the word of God.

Your better saying "I don't know" then saying God failed to give us his word in our language in one volume. Lost sinners are going to be judged by the Book; they have no excuse of saying they didn't learn Greek or saying the Bible is filled with errors.

then it would be foolish for me to continue if there is a chance of hurting someone's faith.

I lived with a few scholars for many years, one was fluent in Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and the German languages, as well as familiar with some other European languages. Having read the Greek text side by side for the NT, I can confidently say that the KJV is a word for word translation. And I was also shown on many occasions, that the OT KJV is so accurate that some scholars don't bother with the original language.

There is only one small difference in reading the English version, the modernization of words, sometimes no longer inclusive of older English. But the Bible is it's own dictionary. It has consistent values to words, which can be proven by comparison of texts, so that presents no problem.

We found that people who continuously refer to the Greek or Hebrew meanings in an English discussion or discourse, often have an agenda of injecting their own falsehoods into our faith. We had a saying, if you can't find it in the KJV, it's probably not the word of God.

Having learned in depth the origins and history of the Bible and counterfeit writings, it is alarming how few people realize how important it is to check what you hold under your nose. False doctrines that destroy the rightful honor of Christ, are at the heart of these new so called translations, they were written as decoys to pry people from off the truth and create confusion. While a few words here and there did not seem like a crime, the original move to change the scriptures in very subtle ways, eventually paved the way for a flood of totally corrupt books.

False Bibles have been promoted and backed by worldly institutions of scholars renown, and people have gobbled up the goods like lollies.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:17

The Holy Spirit

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? Jeremiah 23:29

Even The King James Version

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. Isaiah 29:11-12

Becomes A Dreaded Book Which Will Condemn Those Who Misuse It

But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. Deuteronomy 18:20

As I Read It

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalms 119:11

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers.

Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, practice it to be holy.

It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character. Here Paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.

CHRIST is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end.

It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.

It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment and will be remembered forever.

It Involves the highest responsibility, will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents. From The Front Of My Gideon New Testament

Love, Your Brother Joe

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
