You are correct.  While the remission of sins has been the primary focus in this thread, it is indisputable that the shed blood of the Lamb of God was absolutely necessary to ratify and usher in the New Covenant. Indeed during the Last Supper the Lord Jesus made this very plain, even though he had not yet gone to the Cross (or between Gethsemane and the Cross, where His blood was also shed).  Jesus said "For this is my blood of the New Testament [Covenant], which is shed for many for the remission of sins" (Mt 26:28 KJB).  It is therefore evident that the New Covenant is closely linked with the remission of sins.

Under the Old Covenant given to Israel through Moses, the shed blood of innocent animals simply "covered" sin, and that is the true meaning of "atonement".  Thus the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) was to be repeated every year, but during each year hundreds and thousands of animals were sacrificed both daily and periodically to continue covering the sins of Israel.

But, under the New Covenant, the Lamb of God came to TAKE AWAY our sins, and that is a huge difference.  "Remission" means the complete forgiving and forgetting of the sins of those who repent and believe the Gospel.  As John the Baptizer said "Behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (Jn 1:29).  By Divine revelation, John was totally confident that the "sin" of the world would be taken away at the Cross.  It is noteworthy that the word "sin" is singular since it represents the totality of the sins and guilt of all humanity from Adam until the last sinner is saved.

Thus we read that Christ (who knew no sin) was made "Sin" for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor 5:21).  That is an amazing statement, and reminds us of the Brazen Serpent which Moses made in the wilderness so that sinning Israelites could be saved from instant death by simply looking on that Serpent.  Christ confirmed that that Brazen Serpent represented Him on the Cross (Jn 3:14).

So when did the New Covenant become effective? When the veil in the Temple separating the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies was torn in two from top to bottom, and Christ proclaimed victoriously on the Cross Tetelestai -- IT IS FINISHED.  That is when the Old Covenant was finished, and the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross was also finished.  Now there "remaineth no more sacrifice for sins".

Thank you and God bless you.

Blessings Blessings & more Blessings'

Closest friendnt,,,,,,Thank you for sharing,I do understand what you are saying,,,,,,,all of my relatives were catholic Italians,in spite of the many distorted perceptions & beliefs that they had because they looked no further than what they were taught(rcc, family, culture, tradition etc...) I do believe they a lot of them are Saved,,,,,,,,,,they did not have more abundant lives here on earth that they could have had BUT I do believe they have Eternal Life with our Lord

This is exactly what our Brother is talking about,,,,,,in his very own words & relating to what you & I are discussing,,,,

Quote

the Word of God (in conjunction with the Holy Spirit) convicts us of our sins, thereby leading to confession, and repentance.  And when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness...

Hereby Salvation is given by the Grace of God,to our families

and here is where the Topic of this Thread comes into play for many catholics who may or may not grasp this.....

Quote

At the same time we need to examine how the blood of Christ cleanses us vs how the Word of God cleanses us. Since the blood of Christ was shed for the remission of sins, sins can be forgiven ONLY on the basis of the blood. At the same time that we are forgives we are cleansed from the guilt and defilement of sins -- we are purged from our sins.

Quote

Now there "remaineth no more sacrifice for sins".

You must realize that there are so many catholics going to "confession" to be "absolved of their sins so they may go to church on Sunday & receive "the Body" of Christ & the "Blood of Christ" to be "Holy",,,,,,,,,

Ezra, please lend me a hand here,,,,,,,am I on the right track, bringing out the focal point we are emphasizing?

Sister Kwik,

You are absolutely on the right track. It is sad to see that so many Catholics have been misled through the teachings and practice of the RCC. Hopefully one of them might read this thread and see the truth.

Yes I do, because I can see how he gets involved in our lives.

In the past, I just believed in him, I needed him only as a Savior from Hell.

I understood the consept of Heaven and Hell, and I needed him just for the Heaven, I needed him as the Savior from Hell.

Later I needed him for this life and I turned to him, and I understood that he wants my repentance, that's when I gave him my repentance.

The strange thing is that  later I understood that he was helping me without my repentance, that's when I began to understand his love for us.

that's what made me to want to get to know him and follow him in this life.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
